  • I’m here cuz I have mental breakdown cuz of my parents plus coronavirus, feel like I couldn’t get out of it and no longer want to stay but I’m practicing yoga and hope it helps, at least just to feel calmer and less stressed

  • wow.. just wow. I have severe generalized anxiety disorder and let me just say this made my nausea go away within five minutes of starting. The internet has said yoga really helps and i gotta say i 100% agree. This was amazing

  • These past few days. I always have this feeling that I’m going to pass out when I’m going to sleep. Do you think it’s part of panic or anxiety? I can’t get to see a doctor for now due to the pandemic situation here in my country. I’m really hopeless now

  • I don’t know what I would do without your videos right now Thank you for giving me a way to decompress during these uncertain times.

  • This practice was so therapeutic for me today. After a long day of working I entered the mat with somewhat of a depressed and frustrated energy. Not gonna lie it got a lil emotional there at the beginning! But by warrior I was feeling more resolute. And surely by the end I am feeling much more emotionally balanced. Its so true that the body holds stress. Thank you for this magic practice oh dear Adriene and Benji

  • I wasn’t expecting to do the full video even though I have the time but i was looking for a quick release for my anxiety. I ended up doing the full video but I was so relaxed that I didn’t even realize that it had been almost a half hour. Thank you for this video!

  • There are forest fires all around me pretty much here in Oregon right now. I have a lot of anxiety as I face the thought of evacuation and where in the world I would go. After I bought a tent (that will be here Sunday), I snuggled up to relax my anxiety with Adriene and the community. Thank you all for helping me to not feel quite so alone and afraid tonight.

  • I’ve been suffering with anxiety symptoms since 7th grade (I’m 19 now). Since the last year, my whole life turned upside down: I got diagnosed with BPD and Depersonalisation Disorder, I had to stand up to my abusive parents, I had to start taking the subway daily to get to uni which was extremely stressful to me and almost two months ago my boyfriend of 11 months broke up with me and left me devastated. Through all my pain, yoga really helped me relax and handle my anxiety. I hope you all relaxed with this, have an amazing day/night ♥️

  • It’s been 5 months and 16 days since lockdown has started. I am still unemployed. Fall is coming. I had so many things worrying me. I am so thankful for this practice. I am much more grounded and zen right now, snd ready for bed. Thank you so much Adrienne.

  • I find this breathing exercise somewhat challenging but I keep coming back to it. I had surgery to help my nose breathe better but my left side is still a bit slow!! Anyone else struggle with this?

Maybe the breathing technique is just not for my body.

  • Phew. Thank you for this. I was straight up going into a panic attack. The breathing with the nostrils thing in the beginning really helped.

  • I checked this out as I am suffering from bereavement. The second technique is a winner. This is exactly what I used to do to maximise my dive times 25 years ago. I always found shallow diving relaxing but didn’t realise it was to do with my breathing as I would breath in for 5 seconds then breath out for about 30 seconds. I’m currently breathing out for 15 seconds but will gradually extend the time with practice. Thanks.

  • I found this video a little more than a month ago. Initially, it was hard to even sit on the mat and concentrate on breathing. But as soon as I began the alternate nostril breathing practice, I felt some relief. Since then, alternate nostril breathing has become part of my morning and evening daily practice, along with your meditations and yoga videos. I can’t believe how much has changed in just a month of this practice. Thank you so much.

  • I’m going through a difficult time at the moment and you and your videos are like a daily ray of sunshine. So helpfulthank you:) Namaste x

  • Thank you. My anxiety was bad the last two days. We had to leave home due to loss of power (Hurricane Laura). I am home now and SO THANKFUL> I needed this. my body and mind were crying out. Thank you. Namaste all.

  • I am fighting with anxiety and panic attacks for 5 years now so practices like this one really help me. Thanks for this beautiful video.

  • If I”m in a space where I can’t really do the yoga poses, I sometimes just the follow along to the first section of alternate nostril breathing to relieve anxiety as it pops up, and it helps so much! Thanks a lot Adriene

  • Today I woke up so upset and stressed out. I was going to apply for a day off at work because I was feeling miserable for no reason at all, maybe just the covid circumstances. I skipped today’s Inquire (August 2020) practice to go back and do this one, and I cant tell you how much better I feel!! I am so grateful to you Adriene! A little really does go a long way. Thank you for impacting millions of lives with your positivity.

Lots of love from India x

  • Dear Jo, great tips you shared. I’ll work from now onwards.

Please keep it on to share very useful tips with us. We are eagerly waiting your next after next videos.

  • This was so relaxing and very helpful, thank you Adriene for making the world a better place, we appreciate and love you. Keep shining ♥️✨♥️

  • Hello Adriene! My 68 year old husband and I (70) started doing your “30 days of yoga” about a week into quarantine. We had a program of exercise, so we weren’t true beginners and I’ve probably been doing yoga for about 50 years, on and off. That said we are now on around day 90 of yoga! We’ve been through three of your programs and one week did a lot of single-video workouts. Our bodies have changed, our minds have changed and we are committed to doing this for the rest of our lives. My husband is a large man and it warms my heart to see him doing this. This particular workout has done so much for us 16 weeks in quarantine and loads of anxiety has been quelled by “Yoga for Anxiety.” Thanks you so much Adriene! And thank Benji!

  • I think this is one of my favorite YWA videos! By the way, I’m Christian so I prefer to thank God and Jesus aloud instead of saying Namaste And I also bow/surrender to God (vs. the big picture/things we can’t control). Was curious if any other Christians out there do that too? Thank you very much for your hardwork and help Adrienne

  • Adriene, how do you sit like that?! I always end up in a cross legged position because I can’t get into it properly. Could you let us know some tips please?

  • Thank you for this, Adriene. I’ve lived with an anxiety disorder for over ten years, and this pandemic has been a huge trigger for me, which has led me to re-discovering yoga. Your content is the gentle, compassionate guidance I needed tonight.

  • This is my go to video when I have anxiety. I don’t always have anxiety but this video has saved me so many times. The breathing technique from one nostril to another is so helpful. I can’t express how thankful I am for you making this video.

  • Hi Dr
Dr i am suffering from anxiety and have panic attacks, with this i have tremors in my hands and due to anxiety my hands keep on shivering
How long these 2 exercises will take to cure or relief tha attacks?

  • I didn’t know I needed this. But boy I did. My day has changed. Thank you

On a side note, I found your YouTube channel in lockdown and for the whole season yoga has changed my life. I went to my first ever live yoga class yesterday and it was amazing! I can’t thank you enough for bringing yoga into my life which I have now fallen in love with

  • Here we are for day 21 of INQUIRE. A much needed practice for everyone especially in the present world right now. Detox all the negative vibes and restore your inner piece. Thank you Adriene, Benjie, and the YWA team. Cheers!

  • I will be coming back soon as I get my mat because my floor hurts lol but I’m definitely going to try this even when i was breathing with her it made me feel good thanks for this video some of us needs this more then you would imagine I have alot of stress and anxiety to let go of I believe this will help thanks again ❤

  • Debilitating Insomnia (an hour to an hour and a half per night) has me off the chart anxious and short of breath. Adriene is my anchor and I am trying to hold steady and let go of the fear. Love you, Adriene. Grateful..

  • choked on some food, the whole thing made me panic Y.Y to make it worse i was on my own, so no one to help. i might be over reacting because it was just a bit of food but it was really scary.

  • Tomorrow I have my drivers test, which I was pretty anxious about…I knew I needed to do some Yoga to relieve some of the stress. This was lovely. Now I know I’ll get a goodnight rest and rock my test tomorrow! Thank you.

  • Just woke up feeling alittle out of sorts to today, and lack of good quality sleep last night has just heightened the way I’m feeling, so I neeeded a hug of gentle yoga this morning. Namaste xo

  • How can I turn my “why am I doing this… this is useless…” thought off. I am having trouble staying positive while doing this exercise. Thank you ❤

  • this session made me realize one of my septums is fucked up and can’t breathe properly through it so every time i try to do the breathing practice i get more stressed

  • I have been diagnosed with anxiety and BPD at the end of last year. This will really help me to calm down and relax. It will also help my ADD that i have had since i was 6 0r 7 years old.

  • Hello Dr Jo. I have subscribed and get alerts. I was wondering and hoping you would be able to email me? I have some physical limitations that I’m dealing with and it ••••••••kind of taxing,,?,?, depressing.??? I could really use some help and understanding please and thank you

  • I haven’t done yoga with a pillow in forever! It was very enjoyable. I’m going to take the new breathing technique with me for my bouts of anxiety (preferably when my allergies are not acting up, as they were today. My left nostril was open but the right was defidently not XD). Thank you so much for the practice today! I didn’t realize how anxious I was until I did this <3

  • I have a lot of stress/anxiety dreams and this morning I woke up (too early) with anxiety clutching my chest and stomach. Often I just spend the whole day feeling like that, but today I did this session and while it didn’t go away entirely, the grip has loosened by a good 80%. Will need to do this more often.

  • I enjoyed this practice sometime ago, back when COVID-19 hit. Enjoyed it just as much during the August 2020 Inquire journey. Perfect pace and perfect sequence for de-stressing.

  • Hello Adriene <3 I had a panic attack yesterday, and today I was anxious all day. When I started doing this with you, my tears came out by hearing your kind voice, focusing on my breathing, and just accepting myself. I am an aspired yoga teacher as well and you are one of the reasons why I am taking the yoga teaching license course right now:) I appreciate you so much, thank you! Sending you so much love!

  • I had such bad anxiety last night due to knowing work would be awful today.
I did this practice & I can’t believe I went in to work with no anxiety, like it just went and I was assertive!

  • “The hardest part is just showing up for yourself… and you did.”
I’ve often wondered why people say that they found themselves in tears in Shavasana but today I experienced it.
I hope you read this comment someday, Adriene, and know that I went from a person who does no physical activity to a person who, tired and upset at 12:30 AM, decided that she should take it easy and “just find what feels good” and rolled out her yoga mat.
Your sessions have become hard to skip. Thank you.

  • I was a ball of nerves, had an attack yesterday. They don’t happen to me. Halfway through I started smiling like crazy thank u ❤️

  • YWA August 2020 Wow! Felt so good after my week of travel and taking the kiddos to college. One more day of travel ☺

    Much love peeps!!!!

  • Thank you so much Doc
I was diagnosed having anxiety and panic attack 2yrs ago
    I’m abit okay now
But still sometimes I feel unwell
I hope I will be okay always

  • Before the corona virus outbreak i did a yoga class at school. I broke down crying in that class everyday because i was hurting. Now yoga makes me think of anxiety, but i’m currently at a low point of depression and i’m surprised but this helped. Thank you

  • I struggle with anxiety pretty badly and have just gotten into yoga. Today was a horrible day for me, so I decided to do this video. I was so relaxed at the end I started to cry as I felt all of the weight and anxiety leave my body. Thank you so much

  • When you’re young, you’re always worrying what other people are thinking about you. When you reach middle age, you no longer care what other people think of you. And when you’re old, you realise, everyone was just thinking about themselves all along.

  • Pandemic stress added to being an anxious person already has taken its toll on me recently. This flow almost made me cry because it showed me that I can do better for myself and I can better take care of myself… anxiety levels dropped immediately, thank you Adriene <3

  • Yoga is such a great tool for managing stress. It’s what’s called a “bottom up” coping strategy because it deals with body function and training the body to relax which is half the battle. http://www.thequietzonecoaching.com

  • thank you so much for this, it brought me back down to earth. life feels so ungrounded lately, you are seriously meant to be a healer. sending you love xoxo

  • the ultimate key/cure really is distraction. breathing helps with distraction and dopamine (happy hormone feelings). The cool thing about anxiety is that it cannot multi-task. Your mind is not able to multi-task so much. So if you are out and about and doing things and not worried about your “mind racing,” you will notice that you do not have anxiety feelings. that is the cure!

  • Oh I adore Adriene for this one…I can tell from her voice that she was having a down day herself (not sure if emotionally, or just not feeling well) and yet here she was still showing up to light the way. I aspire to have her discipline one day.

  • At the end, I put my palms to my third eye and saw the most beautiful bunch of red roses. They are a gift to anyone reading this who needs a little cheering up. You are loved.

  • I’ve been having anxiety attacks for 3 days now only aged 15. I’ve been panicking that much before bed which lead me to not sleeping well these attacks also lead me to call an ambulance one night i prayed like hell it would go away and stop but it is now getting better since I’ve done this yoga practice! thank you for this.

  • I woke up to something that made me anxious this morning. Decided to do this one and your words in the end really struck me ie trust all is well and I have the power and tools inside me to transform it to something that feels good. That was just wow! It made me take decisive action on what was causing me anxiety, and for this particular event, it wasn’t as bad as I feared! Thanks so much and sending you all love!

  • I love your videos, but the one thing I do find is sometimes the poses are difficult if you are plus sized and have a large chest that gets in the way. Can you suggest more adjustments for people like me?

  • I’m going through the August calendar and I almost skipped today because I was feeling so overwhelmed and just generally terrible. But I checked the calendar just to see what the theme was and saw that it was exactly what I needed. So here I am, completing today’s practice after all. Thank you for practically reading my mind (even though the calendar was made weeks ago)

  • Hello Doctor Jo, I just want to be absolutely sure on the box breathing.. we breathe in through nose and breathe out through nose NOT THROUGH MOUTH, correct? Please advise.. thank you very much. Your video is so very helpful. I am doing it everyday.. again thanks

  • This helps….i actually have breathing anxiety i over componsate my breathing breathing thru my mouth deep…..its horrid makes me so so anxious feeling i cant breath if i do not..il keep trying these many thanks x

  • It’s really hard for me because I hide it I don’t show it to people even myself I keep thinking that I’m just acting like that just because, but when it hits it HITS me hard and when that happens I bump my body onto something else just to calm myself down. I do hope this will help me.

  • I was trying an antianxiety medication (against my gutt feeling) and one of the side effects was that it increased my panic to almost unbearable levels. I’ve been having attacks every hour for the past 48 hours, sleeping for a few hours at a time. This practice has been a godsend. Your voice is so calming and genuine. And I’ve never heard of alternate nostril breathing, but it is a game changer. Thank you for this gift.

  • This + Heart and Hips Practice today was the best. In these times of so much stress, anxiety and uncertainty it’s good to have a place to go to and let all that sh*t go. Thank you Adriene for being a calm and loving presence in my life and many others. Namaste

  • Was on day 9 of 30 days of yoga camp today, but my wrist was giving me issues so I decided to stop in the middle and find hands free yoga. I saw this in that playlist and thoughtmaybe this is what I needed today instead. Thank you Adriene! In this time of uncertainty and anxiety, your videos have given me a reason to get out of bed in the morning.

  • I am in tears after doing this. I had felt a panic attack coming on and quickly searched “yoga for anxiety,” this has me at peace. I feel so grateful that you have this page so I can watch every time something heavy hits my life. You are an angel

  • This helped so much!! Thank you for your radiating and calm energy. I was anxious and irritable but afterwards, I felt so calm and happy.

  • Adriene, you have helped me so much this past year. After sporadically doing your videos off and on during 2019, I’m proud to say that I’ve done one of your videos every single day during 2020!

These past 5 months have been hell to navigate. I’m 23, and I was laid off in March when the store I was working at closed bc of COVID. I managed to find a virtual summer job, but that ended last week. I’m back to the job drawing board again, and on top of that I’ve been dealing with a strange itchy rash since April. After 5 months of scratching my skin raw and trying different treatments, nothing has worked and I feel like I’m going crazy. The anxiety of it all has made me feel nauseous the past few days, and today I decided to deviate from the Inquire calendar to focus on my anxiety. While yoga isn’t a cure all, it has been my one constant throughout this difficult year and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me and countless others get through these trying times ❤️

  • Amazing practice! Thank you❤️Is alternate nostril breathing supposed to be better to ease anxiety and panic versus abdominal breathing? It’s a bit of a struggle, however, when you are congested and have a deviated septum.

  • I was crying the whole time while doing this yoga session. It was a great empowerment to reconnect with my emotions again after weeks of stress. Thank you Adriene for bringing this yoga session to me:)

  • I’ve been battling anxiety my entire adult life, and most of my teens and childhood. The pandemic and lockdown have really exacerbated it. But this session helped me. Thank you, Adriene!

  • Hi everyone, I’ve been struggling with bad symptoms like dizziness, poor eyesight, spaced out feeling all day, muscle pains and headaches. I also feel like I can never fully relax, does anyone think these might all be anxiety related symptoms?! Really looking for any help you can offer as it’s been so long now and it’s really getting me down. Appreciate any help, thanks all and stay safe

  • Thanks doc, ur vdo is helping me a lot. I just shiver while riding scooter mostly after the accident I faced. But by these breathing techniques I can also stable my mind.

  • Hi Doctor Jo! I just subscribed! Just wanted to say thank you. What you are doing is really kind, loving and humble! So thank u! ❤️

  • great technique doctor. do u have an email so I cans u a question. I had tightness in my front muscles yesterday. I am assuming is due to anxiety. do u have some exercise for that

  • Love the alternating breathing in the beginning it really helped me get situated, but the rest of the class just fueled to my anxiety so the breathing in the beginning felt pointless. I’d go for a meditation class instead of this the next time. xx

  • The another cycle of corona, another school year with remote and in person learning and being laid off. Thank you Adriene for helping me stay clam, grounded and strong through this practice.

  • Thank you so much for these exercises. I was actually looking on youtube for breathing exercises as my vocal coach referred me to them. But I also suffer with quite bad anxiety from time to time. I found these exercises super helpful. Thank you.

  • Thank you Adriene first time trying yoga. Been feeling a bit anxious I’ve never felt this before but this sure helped me thank you

  • Ok so the box breathing worked for one night the I stopped working and the second technique also stopped working on night two so do you have any other tips on calming and sleeping methods

  • I found my favorite place to do your class. Outside in the shade of a big oak tree. However I feel horrible. I killed a Caterpillar.:( he crawled on my mat. So I dedicate this practice to his life.

  • I’m very surprised because I have been looking for some stress relief videos but none worked except for this one your the best doctor jo

  • Thank you so much for this video. The spot in the video where you said something about wavering between anxiety and depression spoke to exactly how I am feeling right now. This practice really helped me to breathe, slow down, and feel greater peace.

  • Day 21 of INQUIRE = perfect! It was lovely to re-visit this practice and to see how I flowed through it today. I even managed two rather respectably balanced Warrior Threes! Again, precisely what I needed to start my day and now to flow through this fine Saturday. Thank you, always. Namaste

  • I know this sounds horrible and mean to others who have made vids like this but this is the only one that works for me probably cause my minds in a dark place right now and my therapist asked me to do meditation for my anxiety I actually went to her cause I was suicidal but my therapy Is so useful. And if your in a dark place please know your not alone I have been thro it I have self harmed and tried to commit suicide but it’s not worth it I swear

  • “You can use a pillow, as a pillow for our head.” whispers “Imagine that.” Haha, soft humor for a relaxing vid. Adriene, I want to thank you. Although I don’t know how long lasting it may be, you took away my anxiety at this moment. I irresponsibly missed my yoga routines and I think my head and body is reminding me to get back to it!

  • Adriene, this video helped me SO much with anxiety. Its been hard to cope with it lately, and a doctor I saw recently at the ER told me to look up yoga for anxiety and try it. If you read this, I want to tell you THANK YOU!

  • Thanks for the video doc. It changed my life. It improved my overall well being, gym and sexual performance. I am a proffesional athlete and it also improved my performance. Hope you get to a million views and subscribers soon. You are a life saver

  • Thank you so much for this. It seems so simple but I’ve struggled with shortness of breath for years from anxiety and this is the first breathing technique that’s ever been effective for me.
