A keto or ketogenic diet is a low-carb, moderate protein, higher-fat diet that can help you burn fat more effectively.     My question: I keep reading that someone in Keto needs to eat a Net Carb: 5g/20g proteins/75g fat. When I used an app called Keto Calculator suggested in the FAQ of r/keto I was given some numbers to intake:

    Protein: 93 (g)

    Carbs: 22 (g)

    Fat: 143 (g)

    Total Calories: 1744 (kcal)

    I don’t know how to count macros, but I am educating myself, and now I wonder if I have to adjust the macros to Net Carb: 5g/20g proteins/75g fat, but not the calories? Thanks for reading and for giving advice.

  • Keto is amazing. I lost 40 pounds in two months. I was doing lazy keto however. I kept my carbs at 20 a day….no sweets..no fried crap…. No sugar…. I did eat fast food like whoppers and stuff but with no bread. I did drink alot of diet drinks like diet sodas and sparkling waters, but I drank a gallon of water a day. Kept up with my electrolytes and vitamins. I took ketones as well. It was easy and fun but I started eating bread again and now I’m eating candy and sweets like crazy and gained back 10 pounds. When I was on keto, my heart was beating really hard and I was having AFIB…. But when I got off keto, my heart stopped doing that. Idk why, but keto gets a 9/10 for me! Great diet to drop weight and drop it pretty substantially.

    I’m sure lazy keto was the cause of my heart palpitations because I didn’t do strict keto which is way healthier!

  • I’m following Ketogenic diet for last 5 years, What I learned from it

    *Super easy to follow once you are adapted which takes around 15 to 45 days.

    *Only after you are keto adapted you get all the brain related benefits( more focus, occasional high:p, no brain fogs and super concentration as I can sit at one place and work for about 8 hours without running for food or snacks)

    *8 weeks ON Keto and next 4 weeks OFF keto works for me as by doing that I face less Keto issues like dry skin, hair loss, occasional tingling in finger tips etc.

    * Do not cheat on a regular interval it increases your cravings for carbs, If you don’t cheat there will be no cravings.

    *You can’t judge this diet just by trying it for a week or so cause that’s just the transition period and you don’t see many benefits and because of your system changing to fat friendly from carb you may feel pathetic about it.

    KETO IS ONLY FOR SEDENTARY WEIGHT LOSS.
    Exercise damages muscles and muscles NEED Glucose to repair themselves.
    They can’t do it without Glucose.
    And FAT NEVER EVER BECOMES GLUCOSE, EVER! It NEVER returns to Glucose!
    The body uses Triglycerides (Fat) directly as a fuel source to create ATP energy.
    ATP is not what your body needs to repair muscle.

    When your body needs Glucose while you are in Ketosis, it is forced to breakdown amino acids (proteins) to create Glucose.
    But, once again, your stores of fat will provide energy for low-to-moderate activity, but they will NEVER provide Glucose for ANYTHING! PERIOD!
    Fat NEVER EVER EVER EVER becomes Glucose. NEVER!!!
    Did you get that?!
    Your mitochondria will stop burning Glucose and burn Fat for energy.
    One or the other, and never Both at the same time (see “Carnitine Shuttie”).
    But it will NEVER use one molecule of Fat as Glucose to fuel your brain or repair damage, ever.
    Your body NEEDS Glucose and Insulin to repair muscles.
    While your Protein is slooooowly turning into Glucose (and flooding your body with ammonia btw) it is not repairing damaged muscle fibers.
    It can’t do both at the same time.

  • I never post in comment sections because I usually am the one reading but I do want to say, I have had a really hard time joining the keto community and changing my lifestyle to be keto based for so long.   • Helpful clip even though I’ve been doing keto for 5 weeks. In some ways it’s been easy because I haven’t been hungry, but I lost 8lbs in the first two weeks and nothing since, despite two 36 hour fasts in the last 3 weeks. It isn’t easy to keep carbs under 20. I track on myfitnesspal and keep cals under 1500 as well. I end up eating the same thing nearly every day. Even natural yoghurt and blueberries have carbs. An avocado has carbs. I’m so sick of eggs! Going to try my best for one more week and then if I’m still stuck in this plateau next week (ie, a whole month) then I’m switching to a standard low carb diet. This will have been good preparation though.

  • Great video thank you! I started a keto diet about 6 weeks ago and have lost 11kg. I’m incredibly motivated by the results and how I feel. I am also doing intermittent fasting (no food between 8pm 12pm next day) which has helped speed things up. Not going to lie the first week was insanely tough but once you get through it and start noticing the positive effects its actually quite easy to continue. Exercise is a bit harder (I cant run as fast / lift as much) but not impossible! Good luck to everyone who tries it:)
