  • This is very positive. But, it doesn’t help to be so data free and non source referenced. Feeling good is not a reliable measure of health. This is the kind of talk associated with sudo science. I’m not saying this is. I’m saying it reduces creditability.

  • Duke and Harvard studies say less than 1% of genetics plays a role in health, you are correct, it is environment, their studies post 2010

  • Not another Esselstyn worshipper cud chewing presentation plz…. have you seen Greger’s latest photo? Testosterone levels of minus 0.5

  • Garbage (processed foods), dairy and meat is cheap because it’s subsidized by corrupt governments run by pharmaceutical and oil companies (often the same people own both). We have a ruling elite that does not want a healthy, thinking society. They want stupid, fat and lazy people to make them trillions of dollars by using their damaging drugs. Stupid, fat, and lazy people are more easily controlled and are happy to sit on the couch watching idiotic programs on TV. Let’s help each other get healthy and stand up to the lies that the governments and medical profession has promoted. I go to a doctor once a year to get blood work done and that’s it. No other tests, no flu shots, etc. I cured myself of allergies, painful menstrual cycles, and re-grew a thyroid, much of which had been removed when I was 11 years old through diet and nutrition (an under active thyroid loves seaweed!-not for hyperthyroid!).

  • Sorry, but far too many cliches. “Mediterranean diet” Crete and Sardinia are Now among the most obese with rampant CVD! The source of the Med diet focus was sourced only immediately after WW2! Lawrence Rudel has done LOTS of extended studies of the so-called Med Diet where health is attributed to the Vegies and fruit, NOT Olive oil, which contributes to endothelial inflammation and the monounsaturated fat contributes to endothelial inflammation and the development of CVD at EXACTLY THE SAME RATE as Sat fats. The veggies offset the damage done by the oil!!!
Again, far too many generalizations and OLD anecdotal evidence.
For current information, check out Caldwell Essesltyn, T. Colin Campbell, John McDougall and the research summaries (that this speaker obviously missed) at Nutritionfacts.org.

  • You dont mention fish I eat 80% of my food uncooked, I eat tuna in olive oil, fillets of sardines in olive oil, mackerel, pilchards, haddock. What’s wrong with fish?

I eat hearts of romaine lettuce, spring onions, red onions, garlic, pickled dill gherkins, sweetcorn, baked pots, piccolo tomatoes, wholegrain brown basmati & pilau rice with quinine, every day. All uncooked. Sometimes walnuts, Brazil & almonds. Prunes, grapefruit, figs in syrup. Rhubarb yoghurt. Sourdough bread from Poland, trying to give up bread. Porrige. Water, wine.

But since lockdown in March have put on weight. My cholesterol level has gone up to 5.7 can anyone advise my diet has no meats at all
I take mandarins, bananas, pears, apples. What am I doing wrong? The weight is all around my midriff, help!
    Peace out SW England

  • Go to Richard E Ward on Facebook and check out “The Vertical Diet”. It is the End of Obesity. Turns out the answer was given to us long ago by Pavlov and Margret Mead. “For every Conditioned Response there is a Behavior Modification”.

  • Two Great Natural Health Resources…

Website of an MD with interest in natural medicine.

Extensive, comprehensive website with a huge volume of information

    2) the book “Prescription for Nutrition Healing” by Dr. James Balch, MD and Phyllis Balch.

Extensive, great resources. Can usually pick up a used copy on Amazon.com for just a few bucks plus shipping.

  • Clickbait title, poor form. I thought I was going to hear “research on healthy aging”. Instead I got “ethical considerations of and trends in collecting health data”. Just make the title what the content is.

  • If you’re having erectile dysfunction it’s because you are lacking in cholesterol and are also shooting blanks. You need MEAT.
That stupid bitch is telling you fibs. Only meat can save you.

  • This lady is clearly a biased narrow minded regurgitator of cherry picked data.
Aflotoxin is from fungus particularly found in legumes like peanut butter

  • Daily, I go over list of foods with vit a to zinc to be sure I get my micronutrients from real food (unrefined, unprocessed, containing fiber/water) and not rely on vitamin tablets which are missing thousands of micronutrients. I keep animal foods like meat, dairy, egg, seafood to a minimum or zero bec these are bad for health. I take vit b12 supplement to get my vit b12. For vit d, sunlight or brands of white mushrooms with vit d listed on the nutrition label. I like to eat natto for vit k2.

  • Vegetarians, keto followers, intermittent fasters, starch consumers and carnivores all claim the same health benefits with their own dietary advice. They can also back up their claims with exactly the same science. What is anyone to believe? No wonder the worlds health is in such a mess!

  • 1:14:00 ten recommendations to promote healthy aging. Watched this in January 2020. Amazing. I haven’t found anything in the literature on aging over the past decade that significantly builds on what was presented in this video 10 years ago.

  • great videoTY 4 psting! This is So true and right on. I through genetics, eating little, being active but no exercise regime, if I want to eat an entire cake once a year I will not deprive myself. I have a nice life and am blessed with good health, loving family and friends, and a great husband, etc. Every time I tell people I’m 39 EVERY one of them says no way you’re close to 39 or ask to prove it by leting them see my DL! Guess I’m lucky but I take nothing for granted. I appreciate the video.

  • This is a very good talk with lots of practical and useful info that we can apply daily to our own lives unlike may other talks I’ve seen on this channel. Most others were nothing more than over and hour of charts and graph and statistics that really have no practical daily use and turned out to be boring and and a waste of time. I do find it rude and annoying that people constantly interrupt with questions. If they would friggin wait I’m sure the questions will be answered at some point during the talk. If not right it down and ask it at the end when she’s taking questions.

  • Dr Campbell’s study was with casein which is a protein unique to dairy. I have a hunch we need to distinguish between dairy protein and meat protein. I’m not sure you can conflate casein with all animal protein.

  • I observe everyday people everywhere having difficulties and consequently at this time accepting power over over their unique affairs, you are not going to be in a position to finally become empowered when you find yourself not wishing to make the choice that sets you totally free. The simple truth is the decisions we establish are positively or perhaps unfavourably reinforcing our behaviour and thus our everyday life.

  • That´s all very well but if you suffer with gout certain greens will cause a flare up! Especially peas, cauliflower and spinach! So what are we supposed to do? Eat spinach, asparagus, mushrooms etc and be crippled?

  • You really want to lose weight and keep it off. Stop eating out. Eat organic. Stop buying processed food. Stop drinking milk, yogart and butter. Buy grass fed and finished butter. Grass fed and finished beef. Buy organic veggies they are not sprayed with Monsanto Weed Killer. Organic fruit. But cold pressed extra virgin olive oil and extra virgin coconut oil. No other processed oils that clog arteries. Buy einkorn flour no processed flour. All my craving stopped no more depression no more breakouts. No more hard bowel movements. I never felt better in my life. I was not trying to lose weight but slowly started losing excess body fat as a by product of eating right now i do not miss eating out at all. And the food has so much flavor. Hamburger tasts like hamburger. Veg have flavor. Fruit is sweet. Stop buying food that is made to kill you off early. Diets do not work. This is a life style that works. No tying of stomach. Walnuts, brown basmanti rice, avocados, do not buy any packaged organic food that has added unorganic ingredients. Maple syrup, stevia with nothing added to it. Raw honey. I dare you to try this?

  • That cherry picked bs isn’t even really worth a comment….. but if it were: HK has the highest meat consumption on the planet…. and just about the highest life expectancy. Now not being a retarded seventh day vegan, I don’t say that’s proof that meat has you life longer (it might be other differences that help a lot more) but it sure as h*ll proves that meat (or any animal protein and fat) doesn’t reduce life expectancy in any meaningfull way!

  • Fake information in this video! Animal foods are good and norishing to the body only junk food sugar and highly processed food create disease! These people lie to make you sick they tell the opposite of the truth! The biggest antioxidant glutathione is found in animal foods like beef, fish, poultry! Plants are inferior to animal foods. You need essential amino acids from animal fats, vitamin A, D, b12 heme iron, bioavalable zinc, complete protein only found in animal foods! Also most of those vegetable that are man made are veryrtoxic like spinach, kale, cotain high amount of oxalic acids which creates kidney stones in 80% of a time, then crucifirous vegetables are goitrogenic (toxic to tyroid) And much more!

  • I hate vegetables. They don’t taste good to me. I believe that if a food does not taste good, you don’t have to eat it. My health has improved now that I basically quit eating greens…

  • Thank you. I’m 80 and looking for a way to tweak my lifestyle to keep going. My goal is to be the oldest living member of my family, which would make 113. Thanks again.

  • Dr. Hibbs this is still a wonderful, relevant and important lecture. I’d love to get a copy of your notes if they are still available. The link below didn’t work for me.

  • Very inspiring way of telling about the research and I appreciate the many motivating examples and clear recommandation of healthy choices of food and life style. Even if I have heard this before I am very happy that I fond this. Thank you for super inspirarion

  • I feel like the way this is presented makes it lack credibility.

For example, when she states that the protein response in rodents is similar to that of humans, there’s no cited study nor did she mention the difference in metabolism between the two species. The “my husband” example has the sample size of one and “became plant based” is too board of a term without elaborating on exactly what he cut out, what he eats and the proportions.

The problem of the studies she mentioned is the way that a correlation of exactly one side is used which can lead to confirmation bias since the suggested change in diet has so many variables.

  • This is bad information beyond all recognition. Ketogenic diet is a well known fact that works for healthy living. These doctors needs to be in jail for practicing and giving us the wrong info.

  • Not sure if I can totally agree with that because my mother had taken 4 litres 1 percent Milk every second day for the past 20 years and my mother is still ticking

  • Sometimes advocates lose their objectivity as seems to be the case here. The negative impact of meat can be countered by adding appropriate amounts of fruits, vegetables, complex carbohydrates, and micronutrients. Most meat eaters on western diets fail to do this.

  • I’ve been a private caregiver in the Minnesota suburbs of Minneapolis for decades. I’ve always found my healthiest people are the ones who take the fewest pharmaceuticals.⚕️
My favorite people are the ones who I can keep active and get out the house door. People who like to stay active, and be social. I’m often asked, “What are we doing today?” and we always find something fun or interesting to do.
It sure beats being stuck in one of those pill pushing, pharmaceutical laden nursing homes.
    Let food be thy medicine….
So here’s to your continued good health everyone.

  • These lectures are worthier than big drugs and shameless fastfoods, and these show us the lifestyles to change for a healthier life.

  • Artificial sweeteners have the same effect on the brain and ADD pounds…dropped meat AND the Sweet n low…that’s when I finally started losing weight

  • Very educational. What about GLUTEN FREE? The day after I ate Raisin Bran my stomach went from flat to bloated. I lost 55lbs on KETOGENIC LIFESTYLE & have always been active due to ADD/w HYPERACTIVITY! My husband is Type 2 diabetic and a couch potato after working 7 days a week behind a computer. Posture has dramatically changed, eats frozen meals. So to try to make him happy I ate the same & became lethargic & cranky. I garden 5-15 hours/Daily, work at least 5 hours in the kitchen chopping vegetables, composting food, cleaning & clearing out rotten old food & recycling. Plus work from home on his business. I try to get up during TV Commercials to get a task done ✅ or some form of movement. Dr. Joe on YouTube has a great, simple, short wake up routine to get you going in the morning. I have THYROID DISEASE, therefore, since discovered my doctor said I will always have high cholesterol. Periodontal disease since late 20’s age. I was a sick baby when born, missing 5 adult teeth & was bullied daily for a birthmark on my face from Kindergarten on up for years until it naturally slowly went away. Also, I have recently learned I have a larger than normal colon after a colonoscopy & misdiagnosed for 28 years. But I still mowed the lawn better than our yard guy, traveled the world , had twins, cut my own hair & the boy’s, volunteered extensively. Then due my doctor’s “infinite wisdom” he put me on a STATIN which nearly killed me. My muscles turned into violin strings, I could not bend over to do housework, get out of bed or turn over in bed. I could only walk forward. When I quit the STATIN, VYTORIN, I drank 2 gallons of whole milk daily, for 3 months; a craving I had to satisfy. Also, misdiagnosed with IBS for 8 years, my sister who lived in SLC suggested I try new technology called Spiral Tomography at a clinic there. The doctor was horrified going through the results and screamed, OMG, you have an extra organ that should not be there! Turns out it was an OBSTRUCTED BILE DUCT‼️ So network, do your research. Don’t trust most doctors. They put a STENT in and left it in for 8 years, which should’ve been removed 1-3 months after insertion. So I was on antibiotics for 8 years for gut infections, pain pills, in & out of Emergency Rooms which cost $1000 monthly, even with good insurance. I always ate healthy high fiber foods. My husband said I ate fruit , nuts, bark, gravel and vegetables. Nothing funny about what felt like a migraine in your gut & gave you muscle spasms in your back that would paralyze your back for 10 days at a time and I would have to hide under a table for 10 days at a time. Hope this helps someone out there. You never totally recover from STATINS. And they keep changing the bar (Cholesterol benchmark #’s so they can sell more drugs)! Gotta go now and eat my spinach!

  • I learn many things I did not know and will eat more fruit but I am a diabetic and some time fruit is two sweet. but will make more changes in my eating to better my health. At this point I have lost 75 pounds since 11/14 and still changing my way of eating.

  • I agree with more leaves fewer seeds. For more micronutrients, my priority food are sprout, green leaf, seaweed, herb, mushroom. For more micronutrients, seeds/nuts, fermented plant food. For more protein, legumes. Excess protein is bad for health and we can thrive on very little protein like the african countries. For omega 3 fat, fish oil, algae oil, flax/chia powder, purslane. For more carb, fruit vegetable, fruit, roots, grain. If I eat fruit, I make sure I exercise to avoid triglycerides.

  • How many rats drink milk? She’s a bloody nut.
The China Study has been debunked years ago.
Dr. Robert Lustig. will tell you the truth about cancer if you care to know the truth.

  • There was a study that linked high homocysteine levels to heart attacks, they found these were worse in vegetarians and vegans. Dr Gregor did a video on this that linked it to our excess omega 6 to omega 3 levels because a lot of alternative products contain excess oils. If you eat a whole food plant diet you avoid this issue. He also recommends eating 1tbsp of flaxseed to help our omega 3:6 ratio. Processed foods are no good for any diet…

  • OK. She says casein was used. That’s a dairy product. But what may be in the dairy product? How was it produced? Seems like there are other questions to be asked here. I guess I need to keep watching to see if it’s explained.

  • Anyone who believes it justifiable to experiment on animals is as loony & wicked as a Vegan Diet or Carnivorous diet. Animals were given to man to take care if, allow to do what created to do. All humanity needs learn what God Wants.

  • What really are changed in modern era in nutrient: Vegetables and vegetable oils came. Cancers and CVD and diapetes rate go sky high.
When inuits changed their diets to western, they got sick. So, how bad flesh ja animal fat really are?

  • Dr Bernard’s suggestions kill the whole thing..no one would do that you might as well eat cardboard..you should take that slide out..it was great until that was seen

  • It’s not the meat, it’s the carbohydrate in conjunction with it, and the INSULIN RESISTANCE you will develop from the massive onslaught of insulin.

  • Interesting the supplements needed when eating a totally plant based diet. Get rid of processed foods eat meat and low carb vegetables. Get the carbohydrates out of your diet.

  • im doin the gluten-free vegan diet (like 80/10/10). Trying to heal my body from all the shit food society brainwashed me into consuming. If I ever eat grains, they will have to be sprouted. For now Im trying to restore the good gut flora after years of medication by fermenting vegetables.

  • Yep, eating whole plant foods and stopping processed, fatty foods will help us. This is a very good lecture…you might also check out Dr. Michael Greger’s awesome peer-reviewed videos at NutritionFacts here on youtube and on FB and on the ‘net.

  • After seeing a periodontist for years and doing the flossing and cleaning they recommended my husband showed up at a regularly scheduled visit after just one month on the ketogenic diet. They were astounded at the condition of his mouth and gums. They even admitted to knowing that such a change in diet is great for dental health. Seems to me it’s inflammation (from sugar and carbohydrate) that leads to heart disease, not whether you floss your teeth or not.

  • When they glorify plant protein, do they keep in mind the carcinogenic fertilizers and pesticides that are sprayed on it? Surely these chemicals are not exactly promoting good health among humans.

  • No talk or even mention of the need for open source devices/applications? No, instead support for big companies making profit from this data. Imagine you only have access to your own data through subscription only. What’s wrong with people today?

  • Obey God,,, Surrender to Jesus Christ Be a born again Christian & Your live for ever & ever,,,, Eternal Life is found ONLY n God son Jesus Christ I Pray Amen

  • Advanced Alzheimers has been called Diabetes type 3, which is the equivalent to Insulin Resistance in the brain. No mention of Insulin, but talking about Alzheimers. Correlation does not equal Causation. I was Vegan for 3.5 years & at that time I would cite the China Study. Now, after my health had deteriorated on the Vegan diet, I went all the way through Keto to Carnivore diet. Have been feeling amazing, gaining muscle, more energy, more focus, less joint pain, better skin, less cravings. Many outspoken Vegan influencers has quit veganism for health reason. Timothy Schief, Jon Venus, etc. Just google “why I quit Veganism.”

In addition. Where do you get Vit B12, K2, Creatine, Collagen, Carnitine, Carnosine, Vit A (Retinol, not Beta Carotene) DHA, EPA, etc.?
Regarding the right amounts of Essential Aminoacids, the Bioavailability is dictated by the DIAS (Digestible indispensable amino acid score) which is far lower on plant foods. You would have to eat a lot more calories to be able to get the right amounts of these amino acids to be healthy.

Lastly, plants contains plant toxins, also called antinutrients. Oxalates, phitates, Lectins (gluten included), glycosinulates, tannins, protease inhibitors, solanins, saponins & flavonoids. All of these have a negative effect on the body. Many of the degenerative cronic conditions humans have are related to these antinutrient.

Hope this is helpfull the the lot of misinformation present in this video.
    Much Love

  • OK, so this was ten years ago and it was all on a low fat diet and drug company concerned so I would like to know what happened because I don’t believe it and would have a hard time believing a low fat diet would help anyone.

  • I will never be vegan,im 78
Tried it for a few yrs in the seventies after heart attack, and just got to weak and unstable to do my work on construction projects
What I did do was eliminate all processed foods and pharmaceutical medicine, grass fed red meat, fruits and vegetables, whole seeds and nuts only.
Im 78 ride my motorcycle everyday,
I supplement with diametrouse earth, spirulina, food grade activated charcoal, and essential oils, hvnt even had a cold in over 25 yrs, the brain tumors and prostate cancer, arthritis all gone, I do spiritual response work and this is all from my spirit ❤

  • 48:57 Periodontal disease is a SYMPTOM of inflammation (i.e. hyperinsulinemia) NOT the cause. Resolve the root issue (too many carbs) and periodontal problems and cavities dissipate.

  • WHAT A STEAMING LOAD OF BULLSHIT! Don’t believe a word of it! I am 83 years old and in excellent health and of normal weight. Listen closely to what she has to say and then do the exact opposite and you will live to 100.

  • Total garbage….. Casein… the worst cancer driver ever! What about sugar???????? I like when they show “studies” and they present the conclusions they made, instead of the bigger picture of data…
Did these people exercise the same? did they smoke? How much sugar/carbohydrates where they eating? How frequently? Where environmental conditions they where living in?
Is it maybe that vegeterians and vegans on the misguided notion that their way is the healthy way, are they leading a more healthy lifestyle, by not being complete troglodytes like the meat eaters they collect for these studies? DId they take meat stuffing athletes? Is it maybe that low consumption of fat leads to LOW CHOLESTEROL, because there is little fat to be moved around? Fat and high cholesterol is it so bad if your triglycerides are low and the sdLDL is minimal even your TOTAL cholesterol is high? Did you study vegans and vegs for decades? Do they know that plants, vegetables and fruits can chemicals that inhibit mineral and vitamin absorbtion in the human gut?

  • Andrew Weil is my hero when it comes to this stuff. I love how balanced he is with conventional medicine and homeopathy. Unfortunately I think he’s way ahead of his time.

  • Thank you for a great presentation. Still aging and death are often the only form of justice left in this World. Would substantially extending the human lifespan really be a good thing?

  • Walter Kempner, MD healed the diseases that are killing us now. Human beings, not mice
The speaker needs to offer valid dada to save lives. It’s the Standard American Diet, scientist call it ‘SAD’ it’s all fat. All these ridiculous studies, it’s the food. The Japanese prove this with their rice, veggies, a little bit of fish. When they move to the USA, THEY DIE FROM THE SAME DISEASE. You are to complicated. It’s the food.

  • I dont think that meat is bad for health, the problem is that people eat to much of it and that lead us to a bad quality. We should eat meat 1 time per week and good quality that will make a hugh diference.

  • I probably should be dead by next week as I am doing Keto style diet, really high in animal fat and protein, some days just carnivore. LOL!
No mention of insulin, sugar levels, vegetable oils, lots of added sugar and refined wheat that is the standard American diet.

  • Amazing presentation. I am a researcher and wanted to know more about Dr. Hughes’ work. It was sad to find she passed away in June 2015 from cancer. As I thought she looked too young to retire, I could imagine that she was already diagnosed with cancer at the time of this presentation.
