High-throughput technology and the data it generates is evolving and advancing basic science into clinical science and personalized medicine. But while currently available methods exist to rapidly and efficiently produce DNA, epigenetic, and RNA whole-genome profiles from individual tissue samples and cell lines, data analysis and deconvolution remain challenging.
This webinar discusses what you should consider when providing virtual care, including:. Technology. Consent. Privacy and Confidentiality. Record Keeping. scenarios
3Dnatives is joined by Formlabs and Axial3D to discuss the benefits of 3D printing for the medical sector. Additive manufacturing technologies can be used to create tailor-made medical devices such as implants and prosthetics, but also for surgical planning and rehearsal. In fact, many experts believe that 3D printing will become part of a clinician’s daily routine in assessing treatment pathways for their patients in a not so distant future.. For surgeons, having fast access to detailed, reliable patient data is vital for success in the operating room. But what if the CT or MRI data just doesn’t cut it for planning surgery and communicating your course of action to your patient? 3D printing has the potential to revolutionize the eight million complex cases each year, where 2D imaging isn’t giving surgeons the confidence or insights they need.. Right now, 3D printing is reshaping how surgeons plan for complex procedures and providing huge time and efficiency savings in addition to improving patient care and recovery times.. Register to watch next the Functional Forum: http://functionalforum.com/next-event.
Featuring: Dr. Jeffrey Egler. John Weeks. Dr. Christopher Mote. The Evolution of Medicine is thrilled to announce the 80th Functional Forum on the topic of “Community Resilience.” Ever since we traveled to Cleveland Clinic back in December 2018 for a Functional Forum event, we’ve been keen to showcase the adoption of functional medicine into large medical institutions. This month, the Functional Forum comes from the corporate headquarters of Adventist Health in Roseville, CA. Adventist Health is a significant healthcare system: It includes more than 20 hospitals and 300 clinics across four states on the west coast of America. As you’ll hear in the episode, it was founded by the Seventh Day Adventists, who are well-known for creating America’s only Blue Zone in Loma Linda, CA. Adventist Health has taken their commitment to community health to a whole new level by acquiring Blue Zones, an organization that certifies and organizes communities to become healthier based on the concept of the Blue Zones, popularized by Dan Buettner.. Our keynote speaker for this month’s Forum is Dr. Jeffrey Egler, a certified functional medicine practitioner and former medical director at Parsley Health LA. With his extensive background in functional medicine, family medicine and bioinformatics, he was recruited by Adventist Health to help grow functional medicine within their healthcare system. In this interview, he will be sharing new developments in this project.. Then, on the topic of community resilience, we will hear from John Weeks, who is the editor of the Journal of Applied Complementary Medicine. Last year, he guest-edited a special issue on group-delivered services and the many benefits of community care. Our interview with him comes from the Integrated Medicine for the Underserved conference, where he discussed all aspects of how group visits can aid in community resilience.. Last but not least, we will feature an interview with Dr. Christopher Mote. Earlier this year, during the first stages of the pandemic, Dr. Mote gave an incredible interview on how he transitioned to virtual group visits, particularly virtual group visits for lab review, which is a significant innovation in the delivery of functional medicine.. All these interviews will come together to showcase how functional medicine delivered within a community framework can be a focus for creating more resilient communities. We’re so excited to have the opportunity to showcase Adventist Health as a leader in the convergence of community health and functional medicine group visits.. Subscribe: https://bit.ly/2n9QpsC.

Metagenomics, the study of all genetic material within a community of microbes, can be applied broadly to research across many industries. The field of microbiome research is booming and will continue to expand into both new and existing areas of research and development, including medicine. In this webinar, I will discuss how metagenomics can be used to develop microbiome-based biomarkers. Such biomarkers may be applied to precision medicine, direct-to-consumer applications, and agriculture. Medical studies of the human microbiome can be leveraged in developing diagnostic tools, new therapies, and even as an indicator of success in a surgical procedure. Direct to consumer applications of metagenomics are helping reveal links between our microbiome and health, diet, or lifestyle. Microbiome-based biomarkers can also be developed in other fields like agriculture to help understand plant health or to improve crop yield. As the number of microbiome based studies continues to grow, the applications of metagenomics will as well. This webinar will introduce bioinformatics techniques for metagenomic analysis and discuss several exciting applications for this new class of biomarkers, highlighting the current and future developments within precision medicine. The third “Volunteer Talk – UNV Knowledge Sharing Webinar” was organized on 30 October 2014 and had as theme “Motivating and Recognizing Volunteers”. The webinar featured experiences from the field on tools for recognizing the contribution of volunteers, in a. This webinar will give you the tools to address challenges around difficult volunteers, volunteers aging in place, and suggestions to minimize these situations in the future. Suggestions for determining when a volunteer should be terminated, and making it easier on you, other volunteers, and staff will be presented. From “Buck Rogers” to “Star Wars,” the idea of targeted, personalized medicine has been a science fiction dream for decades.
The 2013 film “Elysium,” starring Matt Damon, took this concept a step further, featuring machines called Med-Bays that were capable of diagnosing, treating, and curing any disease or injury almost instantaneously based on the needs of each individual patient.
