The Kind of Fat You’ll Want in Your Body HealthyWomen MONDAY, July 28, 2014 (HealthDay News)—People with higher levels of brown fat have a reduced risk for obesity and diabetes, a new study suggests. When it comes to fats, there’s one type that you don’t want to cut back on, omega-3 essential fatty acids. Not only does your body need these fatty acids to function, but also they are essential for good health, yet eating enough of the right foods to get the amounts you need can be difficult.

Healthy fats like avocado, coconut oil and olive oil are an important part of a healthy diet. Unfortunately, “having too much of a good thing” also applies to healthy fats. That’s because healthy. The people you spend most of your time with shouldn’t judge you or call you mean names. If they do, they’re not the people for you.

Find friends who love you for you and look beyond the artificiality of appearance. If someone calls you fat, your friends should be the ones sticking up for you, it’s what friends are supposed. Abdominal, or visceral, fat is of particular concern because it’s a key player in a variety of health problems — much more so than subcutaneous fat, the kind you can grasp with your hand. Visceral fat, on the other hand, lies out of reach, deep within the abdominal cavity, where it pads the spaces between our.

Body recomposition: How to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. Transforming your body isn’t easy, but if you want muscle definition, you’ll. Obviously, if you want to lose fat, you’ll want to consume as little fat as possible. So stay away from it. Look up the nutritional details of foods you are not sure about before eating them, and always opt for the low-fat option whenever possible.

Every time you eat, hormones are released into your body and the type of calories consumed (i.e. fat, carbohydrates or protein) determines which hormones are released. For example, when you consume starchy or sugary food such as breads, pasta, apples, chocolate etc, the hormone insulin is released to regulate. The main kinds of fat found in food are triglycerides, Whitney Linsenmeyer, Ph.D., R.D., nutrition and dietetics instructor in the Doisy College of Health Sciences at Saint Louis University and. Although 0% body fat sounds awesome its definitely not healthy, you need some fat depending on your characteristics.

10-12% body fat for women is considered low by many. Hey girl you can get the body you want, just make sure you set realistic goals and work at it on a consistent basis.

  • Ok so ur telling these ppl that 100 calories of cake impacts the body the same way as 100 calories of veggies wrong very wrong cake will take more insulin to break down into ur blood and get strored as fat same with a 20 ounce bottle of coke that is like a tsunamie of surgar hitting ur liver all at once and is immeadieataly stored away fat soda directly contributes to the obiesity epidemic the diebieates and lead to over all metabolic syndrome ur leading these ppl to thinking calories are just calories please educate ur self

  • Fat intake is by insulin sensitivity and other chemicals in the body such as estrogen and testastrone don’t listen to this guy he doesn’t know anything he’s not a dr are a scientist and he’s probly done no resaerch

  • The reason for what you call “emotionial attachement” is the way our subconscious brain works. “WYSIATI: What you see, is all there is” We make judgements based on the information that is currently available to us. We treat information that we don’t have as if it didn’t exist. AND we construct the most plausible story out of the available information. Which is also the reason why we are more conviced of something, the less we know: because we can make up a more convincing story out of fewer information, because it’s more likely for fewer pieces of information to fit together. I figured you’d wanna know.

  • Great stuff, RedDeltaProject. I’m 6-4, 56 years old. Started Christmas at 260 pounds. As of today, I’m stalled at 205, with a target of 199.99. RRRrrr! So this week I’m at “Fat Camp.” Ha! That means all meals prepared ahead of time at target calories, all veggies and plenty of protein. Got it all in Tupperware at the dojo I own. Not going to darken the door of my kitchen at home, since we have kids—and thus tons of pasta and all kinds of “treats” that they’ll burn off but I won’t. I will break this stall if it’s the last thing I do! Thanks for the objective, common-sense message about emotions. I get “snack psychosis” on weekends. I HATE that! Emotions. Food addiction. Man are you ever RIGHT about the emotional stuff!

  • So NO ONE is asking “if you are not burning fat, why does your breath still contain moisture”? Could it be that the 70 square meters of surface area of the lungs easily admits the transfer of water from our body to the exhaled breath? No other metabolic process or the simple evaporative loss of consumed water accounts for the water in our breath?

  • Everyone saying they’re working out every day without stopping you’re most likely doing more harm than not! If you’re sore your muscles tore (which is a good thing) but you have to let it recover or you’ll keep tearing them and just injure yourself!!!

  • This is not entirely accurate. There are two aspects to fat loss in the human body. A physics aspect (calories in / calories out) is one of them and that’s the only aspect he addressed in his argument. Another aspect is the biology of healthy eating. Your body is a bio active engine with a fuel tank (fat cells) if you give it the wrong fuel or the suboptimal one like fried foods and added sugar, it will store most of it and not burn it making you feel more hungry and tired ( think old people they eat less than younger people still accumulate fat more plus health issues ) but if you feed it optimum fuel like fruits veggies and lean proteins and milk it will burn most of it, give you energy stop cravings and build muscle easier. You can’t ignore the biological side of us and just worry about the physics (energy expenditure equation). Good luck! Eat healthy

  • When considering eating healthy, you must never fall victim to modern day fad diets. Extreme diet plans are a danger for your health, especially ones that seriously restrict your every day nutritional intake. While they may generate fast weight loss, these diets will never be a long-term answer for your weight problem. It is best to search Custokebon Secrets on google search engine since it isn’t just another fad diet where you starve yourself.

  • Not all calories are equal. For example 300 calories from snickers not same as 300 calories from meat because meat is harder to break down the body will burn calories to digest it.

  • Is roughly 1100 calories a day okay for weight loss? That’s how many I’ve normally eaten after burning 300-500 a day. None of 1100 calories a day is bread btw. I’ve cut that out just because carbs are my main issue. I mainly eat natural carbs (ex.-fruit), proteins, and fats (mostly unsaturated). I’m assuming what I’m doing right now is okay because I can see the difference, feel the difference (can’t grab love handles anymore), and the scale said I lost two pounds and it had only been two days. I’m trying to lose 20-30 pounds I gained on steroids for sinus infections.

  • Hey Autumn I hope you’re having a wonderful day but are there any at home scales you recomend that are somewhat good for measuring body fat percentage in case if the gym I go to doesn’t have one?

  • Hey! Thanks for this helpful video. By the way, I notice a lot of people keep on talking about Fenoboci Diet Plan (look on google search engine), but I’m not sure if it’s good. Have you thought about Fenoboci Diet Plan? I’ve heard some great things about it and my sister lost a lot of weight with it, but she refuses to tell me:(

  • So Don’t take in more calories (energy, fat, sugars, carbs), than your body uses daily, so the excess calories (energy, fat, sugars, carbs) don’t get stored on or in your body parts as fat (excess calories, energy, for later uses)

  • TL;DR your input of calories has to be smaller than your output of burning calories, no matter if its organic food or junk food, calories are calories( better to eat 800 calories of healthy food than 800 calories of empty calories like mcdonalds)

  • Anyone tried the Custokebon Secrets? I’ve heard some great things about it and my cousin lost lots of weight with Custokebon Secrets (do a google search).

  • Good points. But I really think nutrition does matter a lot (your cells are made out of the food you eat ultimately). Think at least about the fact that toxins are stored in the fat cells. Get rid of the toxins and stop pumping other toxins and your body will naturally release the extra fat where this is the case, of course, because people store fat for other reasons as well. It’s not just consuming more calories than you burn, it has to do so much with hormone balance and your mental and psychological state. Some people are not able to lose weight, despite eating clean and exercising because of stress, trauma, burn out, lack of sleep and the like. All these mean stress for your body and your body won’t let go of fat stores in times of stress. Fat=safety.

  • Just include an hour of walking every day in your life, even on rest days.

    It’s easy, healthy, costs nothing
Especially these days where we sit all day it’s basically a necessity.
Another thing you can do, is taking the stairs instead of elevators and escalators.
These small, and ‘easy’ adjustments might seem pointless in the beginning, but it’ll help you A LOT in the long run, not only with weight loss but with maintaining that weight too.

  • Guy’s just jog daily long distance start off slow &you’ll see it’s all in your mind if u think u can do it then u can when u run dont think about how long u gnna run just run trust me!

  • pretty good information and i do a few of them myself but you have missed the MOST important and under rated hack……………SLEEP……………without good sleep everything goes to shit

  • I got stuck with this Im in the middle of an experiment right now. I am eating the exact macros hopefully I will lose fat. I get caught out with peanut butter and jam have to chuck them. I gained three pant sizes which was mortifying. I ran twice a day and it still happened. Hopefully this will work. Otherwise its another problem. Im working on calorie balance.

  • Hey, thank you for explaining it in such a way that I don’t feel like I’m listening to someone’s space odyssey. I was about to give up after listen to some of the people but you made it sound so clear and manageable.

  • Society makes too big a deal of loosing weight with all special diets and workout methods. The method that I’ve noticed works best however is just too eat normal portions of variations of food and take a walk, jog or whatever you like for how long you like. Just don’t overthink it like society wants you to do and accept that weight loss is supposed to take time. Make it too complicated and too hard on yourself and you are much less likely to accomplish your goals for weight-loss, or even worse; End up exactly where you were before you started. Losing weight is not a quick fix and then you can live like you want after that. Weight loss is a lifestyle you have to commit to for the rest of your life

  • That’s old school junk science that has been DEBUNKED. He fails to include one’s Basil Metabolic Rate, Energy Expenditure of the digestion process. Bottom Line if YOU want to lose body fat, low insulin level s are the way to go. Intermittent Fasting & Keto diet is by far the BEST WAY TO THE BODY YOU WANT

  • I used to eat the “low carb” bun option at my favourite burger joint. One day found out is was HEAPS more calories than plain old bread. Now I eat the bread the only thing heavier is my wallet!

  • Calories are the same no matter where they originate. However, what your body does with those calories depends on both what foods they come from and how many are consumed in a given period of time. One example is the “sugar bomb”, which can be any kind of simple carb. These calories will enter the bloodstream as glucose and be stored in muscle and liver cells as glycogen… until those cells are filled or until cell insulin receptor resistance kicks in. Whenever either of these occurs, insulin shunts remaining blood glucose to belly fat (which is a different animal entirely than normal body fat). The more sugar bombs you have, the more insulin resistant your cells will become. The more insulin resistant your cells become, the more the simple carbs (including sugar) you eat and drink will be shunted off to belly fat. The more the simple carbs you eat are shunted off to belly fat, the more sleepy and/or lethargic and/or brainfoggy and/or hungry you will feel. And what do you suppose you’ll reach for at that point?

Most of us are simple carb junkies to one degree or another due to insulin resistance (which is similar to alcohol, nicotine or other drug tolerance). It is imperative that we break the simple carb bomb/ insulin resistance cycle. One way to do that is to satisfy a sugar jones by consuming more saturated fats, or “cutting” the carbs with saturated fats. Bread gets buttered for a reason. Dessert comes after the entree. It’s not something that should be consumed alone. “How can you have any pudding if you don’t eat your meat?”

Just never, ever drink simple carbs.

  • You are crrect about the calories but you have to remember you would rather eat brown pasta then a cheeseburger even if they have roughly the same calories as your getting the nutrition benifit from the brown pasta but alot of fat from the cheese burger

  • Measuring your arm has to be subjective.
If you have pear or apple shaped body you’ll store most of your fat in either your upper or lower body

  • another awesome video. Emotional attachment.  So true! Thanks for taking the time to put out so many high content videos.  You are a YouTube machine!  Very much appreciated.

  • My sister said that she feels light tingling on legs when she’s in ketosis and I do too. But I’m skeptical about it like what I she does what I do=leg exercises that make the muscles react

  • I came across a video from another channel wherein they stated that scientists discovered where fat goes once it’s been burned/used by the body your breath…I’m still researching that to verify if it’s fact or not.

  • I often get paralysis by analysis and even if you were dead wrong about everything, your common sense, root cause way of thinking has been exactly what I’v needed to hear. You approach these concepts like an economist. Great videos.

  • I’m curious to hear your thoughts on the idea of “leptin resistance”? (I’m no expert, I just read blogs and watch youtube videos). My concern is that the body has some say in how many calories it burns (not complete “say” but some say) and if it’s resistant to the leptin hormone that our fat cells are producing, the thought is that it might think we’re “thin enough” and lower our metabolism when we eat too few calories. Do you think that this school of thought has merit?

  • calories in calories out, thats BS, is 1200 calories of soda, candy and fries the same as 1200 calories of salmon broccoli and green beans, i don’t think so, check out jonathon bailor and the sane lifestyle he has the science to back it up,

  • A the end of the day people have to do what’s best for them-selves. What works for you might not work for other people. I’ve been working out for almost 2 months now and I’ve been cut back a lot. I might have a bowl of ice-cream and a waterice, or maybe a little piece of candy, but it’s not every day, It’s probably like once a week, and I can already feel me losing weight just by how my pants and shirts fit.I put on my sisters shirt the other day and I could fit it, I could never ever fit her clothes, and I could fit her shirt the other day. I workout every single day for 30-40 minutes, sometimes an hour, and I’m so proud of myself.

  • I have a question not related to this video per se. On myfitnesspal it recommends me eating 1200 calories to lose weight, and when I go under than number, it says its bad and that I need to hit 1200. Does it slow my metabolism/gain weight if I eat less than 1200 calories? Also if I eat 1200 calories and do cardio and lose 400 calories, wouldn’t it be 1200 cal 400 cal = 800 calories total for the day? If I need to hit 1200 calories, should I eat 400calories back from the cardio I did?

Because it sounds like at the end of the day, most people need that calorie balance in order to lose or maintain weight. Sorry if this is confusing you. Do I eat that extra 400 calories back after doing cardio, or is it OK to have a net 800 calories only? Or must I maintain a 1200calorie diet?

  • The picture doesn’t work for everyone. I had a dunk tank test got 11% but look more like the 16-19% but no abs at all. And I do train my Abs. My core strength is high as well. Only time I had abs was when my body fat was under 5% actually closer to 3.5%.

  • I have tested every weightloss guide and this fat loss program is the one that works for me combined with their items to lose weight. • You are right that diet soda can not be transformed into calories. However the sweeteners in diet soda have influence on your insuline levels. So it can definitely aid in eating more and having sugar cravings. This differs from person to person ofcourse and how good your body handles sugar. If you are fat and have trouble losing weight, just skip diet soda as well. Thats my opinion though, do whatever you like!

There are no pills that work. You HAVE to do the inner work. • What is the best way to lost a ton of fat? I read lots of good opinions on the internet about how exactly Custokebon Secrets can help you lost tons of fat. Has anyone tested out this popular lose weight diet plan?

  • As specialist, I think Custokebon Secrets is great way to lost a ton of weight. Why not give it a shot? perhaps it’s going to work for you too.

  • Well what i did was just goin online and find this video and well it worked for me atleast.:)

  • So I am at 35-40% fat level. I started my journey 1 month ago and lost 3 kg. I am very motivated and am dreaming of the day when I can see my abs.

  • Guys, losing weight doesn’t need to be difficult (I used to feel it did). I’ll give you some advice right now. Look for a diet plan called Custokebon Secrets. Seriously, that diet plan has transformed my entire life. I probably shouldn’t even be talking about it because I do not want a bunch of other guys out there running the same “game” but whatever, I am just in a great mood today so I’ll share the wealth haha.

  • If you wish to shed weight, you need to look up Custokebon Secrets on the google search engine. They’ll make it easier to get the shape you should have.

  • Diet Plan called Custokebon Secrets kept appearing here on different youtube and I thought they were scams. However after my mate follow it, and finally lost a ton of weight by using it without starving herself. I’m persuaded. You should not take my own word for it, search for Custokebon Secrets on google.

  • My work buddy laughed when I told them I was planning to reduce weight with just implementing Custokebon Secrets, but after I showed them incredible effects after I used it they are begging me to share with them about it. Of course I won’t let them know the details about this diet plan, hahaha

  • I wish I`d found out this specific sooner! I would`ve dropped 14 lbs years ago. This program doesn’t ask you to modify your diet or you must work out. It absolutely curbs your cravings however doesn’t make one feel jittery. Google can help you to discover it. weight’s name is at the bottom.

    good luck

  • I really like this. Kinda reminds me of all the debate of clean eating vs. IIFYM Good stuff…needed to hear this. I found this comforting after splurging on Easter candies and food.

  • I have currently implemented this particular guide for several weeks by now and the final results are astounding. They offer me lots of energy and also reduce my urge for food, however I do NOT crash when they wear off which I enjoy, and they also don`t make me jittery. I did nothing special on my very own diet regime and I still manage to get rid of my unwanted weight to 7 pounds. Google can help you to research it. Guide’s name is at the bottom.

  • so basically we have the high cortisol type, the insulin resistant type, the high copper type, and “t-type”, which is what I am which is probably an inability to digest and absorb omega-3s and probably deficiency in all the co-factors to synthesize vit D from the sun. bonus points: vitamin D is a hormones and taking the synthetic kind won’t do you any good and will disrupt lots of stuff in your body including calcium in your joints but hey it’s in everything and your doctor says to take 1000000ius a day yet that never helps people (if you feel better it’s a placebo) but hey whatever.

  • So 30 plus years of body building and eating steroids for every meal can allow me to achieve something my genetics wont let me do. Cool story bro.

  • Stress and T type. I have no pinchable anything around my love handles and my booty is also very taut, despite me being 80lbs overweight.

  • Throughout this weight loss program, a few of my workmates lose more than 13 pounds! They told me to conduct my research way too and learn about it. When I actually started out using it the bodyweight simply lowered 15 pounds. Find a right weight is not easy, you can discover on Google. weight’s name is at the bottom.

  • Nice Tips, merijn!!

Didn’t you once plan on making your chanel also adressing to female training?
Would be reeeaally nice if you had some tips there, too!

    Keep it up

  • This is effective that a few people I know have so successfully lost weight that they are now passed on. But hey Dr. Oz has cut the number of souls requiring hospital stays!

  • Shame on this thief “dr.” Oz. He stole this from another doctor. Dr. ERIC BERG. See it yourself people.

  • Dr Ox is gross! He doesn’t need to hold women’s hand! That would make me very uncomfortable! That is a “term” of endearment holding someone’s hand! He is such a perv!

  • I am tve Sugar abd T Type oh how lovely! healthy eating and eating well along with exercising and sleeping (8 hours!) And drinking water consistently helps but the discipline part is hard. Everything in moderation. I love what Dr. Oz did it’s great! He addressed all types. He’s a Cardiologist I believe so i would definitely listen to him!

  • Dr. Oz is the medical version of a TV Evangelist or a side show carnival barker. If you see Dr. Oz pushing a product (and you always do) you’ve got to know it’s a scam. Don’t believe me? Buy some of the crap he’s telling you to buy and see how quick you get skinny, or your hair grows back, or your complexion clears up, or you are cured of any of the other ailments he claims the products he’s selling will heal.

  • The website doesn’t give a whole lot more.

Sugar Type: Eggs and Pancakes, lots of cinnamon, interval training

Okay… Any other dishes so I’m not eating the same thing, over and over again? And, exactly what sort of exercises?

  • Nice job with the half=assed cherry picking your measurements what a joke. Truth be told she is likely 35*40%. In addition to the bicep, you measure the pectoral, the iliac, and mid thigh. You also have to measure the circumference of the neck, chest, waist hips, arms and legs relaxed and contracted. Then AFTER you average out all of the ALL OF THE MEASUREMENTS you go to the body fat chart.

  • I think he’s doing it wrong… Is it me, or is he measuring not the thickness of the fold, but the length of the top of the fold? Hard to explain. Calipers measure the thickness of what is pinched it looks like here is measuring how far the skin is pulled from the body. Am I right?

  • No! She is obese! For fucks sake does she look ANYTHING like a fit person? She probably cant tie her shoes without being winded you’re full of shit!! Report this fucking video it promotes obesity!!

  • This thing is complete ass just buy a body composition scale. I got mine from Walmart for 20$ and it measures my body fat and water percentage

  • 2:30 very inaccurate giving the old lady a false hope that she is healthy and fit but in reality she just have a very skinny and weak muscle. What if a grandmother check her bodyfat percent using this with her old saggy skin? would it be still accurate? ofcourse No.

  • This is completely wrong. What if I did an older women and her arm sags down 40 Millimeters. Under her Tricep muscle does that mean she’s 50% fat this is completely wrong

  • Oh and don’t get off the scales. Measure body fat in conjunction with scales. Geez. Some women really want to ignore the fact that they are fat…

  • Ways this video is wrong & inaccurate:
    1. He didn’t measure her arm-fat. He measured how far the skin would stretch. In order to measure the fat, you need to pinch and measure the amount of millimeters of fat tissue BETWEEN your fingers. Instead, he measured how far away the skin would reach away from the arm. Wrong.
    2. Like the video said: Different people have fat on different places. That’s why you need to measure at multiple places! Don’t only measure the arm. Measure at multiple places on the body and combine the results.
    3. Don’t use a ruler. Use a caliper. It’s way more accurate.
    4. Don’t only use one way of determining body fat percentage. Measuring body fat is hard and most methods have their flaws. Use multiple methods and compare the results.

Please downvote the video to prevent spreading misinformation.

  • What about the fat belt around her stomach? That puts her at higher percentage. You don’t measure on area only. This guy is another full of BS youtuber.

  • The best soccer player on the girls team (11th grader) has a total of 7% body fat and is ripped and can out run over 2/3 of the football team

  • How to beat about the bush? Well a measure of 15mm on tricep skinfold would not necessarily mean a 13% body fat. He didn’t calculate that. Not a very well informed guy.

  • And seriously you people are just plain fucking wrong people who have 15% body fat have easily seen abs this women has much more fat then I do and 12% is body builder level fat im probably 18% and im near a 6 pack if she is 15% then im lower in body fat then body builders who have vains in popping out in there chest ass stomach ect without even having a 6 pack with this logic

  • When it comes to eating healthy, you must never fall victim to modern day fad diet plans. Extreme diets are a danger for your health, especially ones that seriously restrict your everyday nutritional intake. Many of these fad diet plans work for a short time period and then the benefits decrease after a while. You should check out Custokebon Secrets on the google search engine as it is not just another fad diet where you starve yourself.

  • If they weight the same the volume is the same because if they weight the same and you take random amounts of it and say they weigh the same then they dont weigh the same do they thats like getting a bag of feathers and a brick that weight a pound and argueing that a feathers way the same as brick if you have a pound of fat and a pound of muscle no shit they weigh the same you need to take a relative ammount and compare

  • I been counting calories and working out an hour morning and night. Only eating organic whole foods. Drinking whey protein with water. Drinking gallon of water only everyday. No sugar. thinking im in a deficit for three months. I just found out the truth in this vid. Dam it man. On this fitpal app it said i needed 1500 cal. Starting weight was 165. Im only dropping 100 cal. Thats not good enough. I want to speed these abs i have worked for up. Im dropping another 400 cal. 1100 daily cal for me. Im also deleting and discontinuing all the other subscriptions on youtube. I will only listen to you now. Thank you agsin for responding to my hernia issue in the other vid. You rock man. Thanks for your help.

  • I just did an in-body test and found out what my BFP is! I’ve been looking for info like this (and have found the bare minimum) so this is awesome timing. Can’t wait to watch:)

  • Nice Video clip! Apologies for butting in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you tried Dinanlinson Shrinking Body Approach (just google it)? It is an awesome one of a kind guide for discovering a weird waist slimming water to lose belly fat without the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my close friend Aubrey got astronomical success with it.

  • Great Video clip! Sorry for butting in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you considered Dinanlinson Shrinking Body Approach (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a great one off product for discovering a weird waist slimming water to lose belly fat without the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my BF got astronomical success with it.

  • Do anybody know about Custokebon Secrets? Does it really work? I hear a lot of people burn their fat with this popular weight loss method.

  • The one thing missing from most people knowledge is that PUFA (polyunsaturated fats) in a ALL their forms (yes, ALL) cause inflammation, disease (biggest cancer causer), hair loss, cellular aging, reduced thyroid hormone output (therefore reducing the metabolism),impairing gylconation and CO2 output, increase in oxidative stress, increasing insulin ‘resistance’, increasing estrogen. They are the devil. You swap these for stable healthy ‘Saturated fats’ like coconut oil, ghee, butter, animal fats (ideally grass fed / pasture raised without supplemental feed if highly estrogenic food items such as soy and PUFA ladened seed etc) and you’re already one step ahead if most of society. One in two people get cancer and the obesity and diabetes crisis is only getting worse. People blame and demonise sugar when we run and function in what.. yes.. glucose. Sugar isn’t the injured. Poly-unsaturated fats are and they stop everything in the body working optimally so of-course then sugar metabolism and the rest downstream become an issue. Watch how easy dropping body fat is when your deplete the body of PUFA and allow your body to function how it did when you were younger. Also that very last bit bit of body fat that the body just doesn’t want to let go of. It a lab checked this fat, he’s you guess guessed it. It’s PUFA (aka omega. The body doesn’t want to burn this because it knows it’s oxidative stress suicide.

  • What are some ways to lost crazy amounts of fat? I read a lot of superb reviews on the internet about how Custokebon Secrets will help you lost tons of fat. Has any one tried this popular lose weight method?

  • For anyone starting to get nutrition in check, I think keeping a food journal is great advice, but a big key for me was that I ate nothing until it was journalized. First, the effort of looking up calories, doing math, etc. made me really ask if I was eating something necessary. I was discouraged from grazing, and when I did take a snack I knew what portion I was allowed. The second thing which followed is, my snack had a plan. By seeing the caloric penalty beforehand, I could decide what portion was worth it. And I wasn’t going to go back and alter my journal after selecting this portion, and admit defeat. So the portion I started with was the portion I ended with. If I was journaling after eating, I would just have been unpleasantly surprised after the fact and found myself discouraged in my efforts.

  • In the example you gave where a 200lb guy can drop from 30% to 10% bodyfat. Can he do that in that period of time an maintain the mass of 200lb throughout?

  • The way he said Pastel de Nata was really funny tbh ahahah for those who don’t know it’s an awesome portuguese mini-cake, you should definitely try it

  • So I have been on maintenance calories for the last months and had at least 1 party every week, so I gained a lot after the parties, but after a couple days my weight would be normal again. I actually wanted to do a lean bulk now, but I find myself a little bit fat right now so I don’t actually want to bulk to gain more fat, but I do want to gain more muscle mass. What should I do?

  • That “milkshake” has become a staple in my diet. I eat one everyday. But I’m always putting it in the freezer for 2-3h so I’m basically eating ice cream (with a small teaspoon of course)

  • I never heard of anyone say that artificial sweeteners can magically turn into unwanted calories. There are however, many GI problems and in some cases carcinogenic effects. Maybe it’s just my opinion, but I don’t find that recommendation healthy. If your focus is purely aesthetic and not health, then I guess that the ends justify the means and I can’t argue that you look great! Just think that maybe you could inform your viewers that diet drinks have their dangers as well before you advocate them. Again, just ab opinion. I hope you don’t take this as negative. Cheers!

  • I notice many people keep on talking about Custokebon Secrets. But I’m not sure if it’s good. Have you ever try this popular lose weight method?

  • I think the problem is that aspartame has higher risk of cancer not that it turns into carbs Hahahahhaha (i love Coke Zero tho, defs addicted to that shit)

  • Nice video Merijn.
    Some questions though..
why limit your fat from peanut butter? You want to meet your fat intake right? It doesn’t make sense to limit your fat intake with peanutbutter and than add an avocado to meet your macros.
what is your opinion on activities calories? Normally you eat TDEE minus 500. For myself that is around 3000 cal. When I go out for a run or a bikeride I might burn 1500 kcal. Do I need to eat those extra calories on training days compared to non training days? Normally I don’t but that leaves me with quite low calories remaining.

  • Sit down videos are the best they get lots of info for the time we watch and they help a lot and are very interesting. Win win all around

  • Would love to see a diet shake recepie video.

And also, why don’t you show your TRT protocol and testosteron values? Since we dutchies know how TRT here is.:D

  • @Merijn I think you’re wrong on this one about diet sodas and it seems you’re mainly looking at calories here. Diet sodas have been proven to ilicit and insulin response similar to the regular sodas. Our bodies recognize the sweet taste and this leads to the insulin spikes. Other than that diet sodas often contain other ingredients (in artificial form) that are proven to be detrimental to health like artificial sweeteners, caffeine and phosporic acid.

  • Great tips as always bro, would 100% advice mixing in decaff coffee as too much caffeine is bad for you long term as coach eugene has explained, also the reason diet cokes are the same if not worse for you is that they still trigger insulin response and can reduce your tolerance overtime.

  • Adding Konjac rice to regular rice to make it more filling wasn’t something I had considered before. All great tips but this was the best one!

  • I checked this morning my fat percentage is 41.1 it started off at 45 percent. I lost 13 pounds I’m still obese but getting better

  • i love that this is for women. it’s so hard trying to take advice and get results when 95% of fat% loss videos are made by men for men

  • I got an advanced scale and it does tell fat, muscle, water and bone percentage. I’m 41.7 percent fat I use to be 45 percent and my muscle percentage is 33 percent

  • Something about that camera angle makes it look like your head is much much bigger than your body. I’m just trying to be helpful, honest

  • I have a friend that drinks all of his food. Majority of it is whey protein powder. He uses probiotics and vitamins. What do you think about this is it healthy??? He is at 6% body fat

  • So… I have PCOS, but I only have a bodyfat % of 18,6%… However, all of my fat is stored right on my lower belly, which is frankly quite annoying. So I can’t really see how to loose the belly fat and get a flat stomach, without going below 18,6%, since my fat is just automatically stored as belly fat..:/

  • I took an in body test and had 21.9 percent body fat. The person reading it said I needed to increase my muscle tone (I have 60.6 lbs of muscle). So, I’m hitting the gym harder

  • Wow. I do weight training 6x a week (because I like it, actually), consulting monthly with a nutritionist. My current body fat is 20,6%, but it still feels like I ave SO MUCH to lose, you know? To get to the point where I’ll look into the mirror and say “Hey girl, you look good”. And so does seem that my nutritionist thinks, cause she wants me to lose 2 more kg of FAT only… seems kinda impossible and unhealthy?:/

  • I’m healthy, healthy weight, don’t really exercise anymore and eat everything in moderation, just trying to be as healthy whole food as possible but my body fat percentage is 18%, does that mean I should try up it even though I eat a good amount of junk food or should I focus on staying the same?

  • I don’t actively diet but have been trying to just get stronger and leaner for around a year and a half and have gone from 24% body fat to just over 18% whilst maintint my weight. I’m not restricting at all and I eat a tonne of chocolate (lol) but I have a high metabolism and that’s just where my body is. I’m not sure if I’ll naturally lose more but the talk on fertility in this video has worried me slightly.. would it be in my best interest if I want to maintain health to stay above 18%?

  • I was really looking forward to watching this vid but ends up it doesn’t help me as much cause you only described data for mostly women maybe try doing a guys one too?

  • Ohhh I’m so an estrogen!!! my waist is 26 yet my freaking hips are 37.5 inches!!!! I legit took a picture of those veggies with my phone, F you estrogen!!!

  • You wriggle around and flap about so much I can’t concentrate on what you are saying. Could you sit still and present your videos?

  • On that 18-20% range you quoted Please search this study: Body Composition Changes Among Female NCAA Division 1 Athletes Across the Competitive Season and Over a Multiyear Time Frame

  • Ok, huge question here: how much does age play into factor? is the range the same, no matter the age? asking for a friend, 45, 2 active work-outs/week, plus pull-ups, push-ups etc, not looking obese at all, but Withings scale says 27.8 and won’t go down… 😉

  • You talk a lot about walking and I love that. However because of where I live (Canada, it’s currently -15 deg) I can’t always get out and walk. I have an elliptical, will this still give me the same benefits or is this more of a higher intensity workout?

  • I appreciate the reminder about water retention and glycogen because in December I was super clean with my diet and worked out a ton and than January/February with school starting I’ve eaten less healthy, more stress eating and barely any exercise I gained the 5lbs I worked to lose in that month but lately I cleaned up my diet just a litttle and I immediately lost 4 out of the 5 lbs I had “gained”

  • Masters degree? Your BFP numbers are way off, especially for seasoned citizens. For $50 one can buy a digital scale that shows BFP, BMI, water percentage, fat pounds, and miraculously weight. I will say this: you are the first dietitian I have ever seen who wasn’t overweight.

  • I have two stories from friends on why I hate using a scale:

    1) There was this girl I knew in high school. She was overweight (maybe even obese) and she wanted to loose weight. One time after about 3 months of specialized training and some diet she lost around 10 pounds. At this time I was really shocked because at this time, 10 pounds every 3-4 weeks was considered the “normal” for weight loss. And there was no way she only lost 10 pounds in those 3 months. She had gotten into weightlifting and in those 3 months she lost something like 30 lbs of fat and gained 20 lbs of muscle. (It’s been a long time since this happened, so the numbers are a little fuzzy to me but you get the idea). Anyways, I was just so shocked at how inaccurate the “almighty scale” was.

2)Fast forward to a couple of years ago, another friend had a health scare and was basically ordered by her doctor to loose weight and got my friend onto an exercise and diet plan with regular check ins. One checkin, I was with my friend and she came out in tears because she GAINED weight (maybe by 4 lbs). A nurse followed her out and looked stunned because of my friends reaction (she’d been working very hard and since it was a massive lifestyle change, it took every ounce of will power and self control to stick with her program). Anyways, the nurse handed my friend a copy of the file, report, whatever it was and had to run to the back to help someother patient. Anyways, my friend let me look over her file and rembering that girl from high school, I looked for her body fat percentage (seeing at this was information much more easily attainable than from my high school days). I pointed out that while yes, she had gained weight, it was a mix of muscle mass and water retention. And that since her last check in she lost fat mass.

  • I’m not sure how accurate my smart scale is (it is about 10 years old). According to it I have lost 20 pounds (12.625% total body weight) but only 4% body fat. At my starting weight I had 61.6 lbs of body fat, and at my current weight I have 47.5 pounds of body fat. So that means I lost 14 pounds of fat and 6 pounds of lean body/water weight. Does that seem accurate?

  • InBody also makes a wearable that acts as a fitness watch, but also offers BF%. I tested against an InBody machine at my local gym, and it was really close (< 1% difference). Just want everyone to be aware!

  • I hope I`d learned this particular earlier! I would`ve dropped 14 lbs years back. This program doesn’t require you to change your specific diet or you ought to work out. It merely lessen your appetite to it with out sacrificing your overall health. Google should help you to research it. weight’s name is under.
    Bella Kaγozko
    good luck

  • I agree with what you are saying but I would add the caveat that as long as you are aware of the calories, 200cal of broccoli is still better than a 200cal snickers bar.

  • I’ve gotten into the practice of only stepping on a scale when my doctor tells me I have to. There really is no need to otherwise, in my opinion at least. I think there’s the real danger of becoming discouraged by the numbers on the scale not changing as fast as you hope, and just giving up before you’ve even really let yourself get started. This isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. Go easy on yourselves. Nobody is perfect. You’re not going to always make the best food choices and THAT’S OK! I’m incredibly happy that I found Autumn and the AENpeeps to turn to for advice and encouragement. You CAN do this and you ARE worth it!!!

  • The BMI calculator told me I need to be 181 to be healthy I only wanted to weight 190 lol I’m 4 pounds away from my goal.
    Meal Prep
I was super worried when I started working out and stop losing weight then I saw my chest:) man boobs are gone >:D

  • Hi Autumn I’ve been doing IF for about 6 weeks or so weight loss results are good but when I went on BF scales my body fat had shot up!? Can you please explain what’s going on here in another video? Have been looking for answers but without much success! Thanks for your lovely helpful vids x

  • Hey Autumn! Can you make a video about how to calculate the ideal caloric intake we need to have if we have to lose weight, maintain weight and gain weight? I know that people with more muscle would need more calories but how much more? And can you also discuss the variation in required caloric intake for both genders at the same weight? Thanks!

  • I have a question. I train in Muay thai. And I have now gotten back into lifting weights. Lots of squats.
My sex drive is now through the roof 6 weeks into my weight training regimen. Is this because of higher testosterone levels?

  • boxing showed me that 12-15% was the best bodyweight for me. i had visible abs and felt good. ive gotten lower before and i felt cold, and had allot of anxiety. and then when i stopped working out like crazy i ganed a shit ton of weight, from 150 to 240 in the span of 4 years. lost most of it fasting and counting calories. trying to get back to 15%. 15 pounds to go

  • Have gone from 22% body fat to 15% using athlean x advice….but now I am 6 weeks stuck at 15.0%… I must say going below this feels like a lot more difficult than going from 22 to 21%

  • Tracking calories is a waste of time. If you eat healthy, don’t eat an absurd amount and exercise, you’ll get fit. If you eat garbage you’ll feel and look like garbage.

  • I’m just north of dead and I look nothing like the first guy I’m thinking Im look much more like the last guy but hey last isn’t always bad.

  • Heya, just a little bit more math for when your start weight and end weight is not the same:)
    200lbs -> 30% = 60lb. perfect.
new weight will be (200 x) and not 200 itself, where x is weight lost. So, percentage 10% needs to be wrt new weight.
    (200 x) * 0.1 = 10% of new weight.
    Fat before: 60lb
    Fat after: (20 0.1x)lb
    Fat (before after) = x
60-20+0.1x = x (weight is lost only through fat, ideally should include muscle gain as well, but that has been left as further exercise:P)
    x = 44.44lb of fat lost.
    = 207.38 days at 1.5lbs a week.
    So just a tad more:D
Why did I just do this >_<

  • When from 240 to 170lbs at 6’1″ and sub 10% to clearly see my abs. I now sit about 11 to 13% because its easier to maintain. Sub 10% is a nightmare haha

  • I have been following this channel ever since I was in high school and apply things I learn from this channel to my fitness journey. I just realize Jeff never do a sponsored video at all

  • I started from 28% and got down to 15%, then bounced to 16%. I have kinda plateaued now. Them 3 last % I want are rough… btw I train so my upper abs show.

  • I did the math and i only need to lose about 6 pounds to get to 12% body fat… that’s only a month of work… pretty sure i can pull it off

  • Ok I was way to concern over the body fat issues let’s see my body fat is between 10 to 15 % and I can see outline of 6 packs already I have hardly trained for abs but I used to run a lot that could be the reason that my abs are visible I don’t really wanna be ripped I want a body fat between 15 to 20% throughout my life
And if even I can get some outline I can have 10 packs because I am one of the lucky ones who already have outline of 10 packs

  • Me= around 13 to 15. for me, takes commitment to make choices daily but I definitely still enjoy my food! Overall pretty happy with the walk around level and can bring out the cuts with about 3 weeks of Hardcore Focus but it sucks cutting out the fun stuff.

  • can someone explain why im at 7-9 body fat percentage but only can see the top row of abs.
not to forget that i work them out and they are so strong that i can do alot of hard workouts.

  • I’m used to being at around 16-19% bodyfat but cut weight for martial arts competition down to what I’d guess is around 10 bodyfat (using a temporary diet and water weight cutting) but this sort of inspires me to try to stay at that 10-12 mark. As a big fuck you to corona closing our gyms, I’ll start that challenge from today.

  • This ain’t completely true I’m 14percent body fat and I have no visible abs. I’m skinny fat so all my fat is on my stomach and no fat on my arms. So my abs aren’t there

  • Also he should have mentioned different fat distrbution in the body. Some guys carry fat mainly in their lower back (love handles) and its veryyy hard for them to lost that, on the other hand there are guys who can lose fat from the abnormal area fast but carry a lot of fat on their face, they will have chubby faces with abs. Its different for a lot of people.

  • This math is wrong. The concept is correct but the math is wrong. If you lose 40 pounds of pure fat, you would no longer weigh 200 pounds, you’d weigh 160. If you started at 200 w/ 60 pounds of fat and lose 40 of pure fat that would put you at 20lb of total body fat. Divide that by your weight, and at 160 lb that puts you at 12.5%. To get to 10% you’d need to lose 45 pounds. At a final weight of 155, and 15lb fat, your fat would be just about 10%. And keep in mind all of this is assuming you lose ALL fat and NO muscle which is not going to happen.

  • Why am I even watching this…? I have a bit abs. Low enough body fat. I should do more abs training instead of watching youtube videos about abs XD

  • Jeff what advice do you have for an active guy with a fat concentration on the glues and thighs, thu I’m considered over muscular on my upper body, cheers!

  • Never heard people say diet soda eventually turns it’s sweetener into real sugar, but hear a logical argument that it’s just as bad or worse than regular soda because it plays the mind game with you: “I drank a diet soda, so i can eat this,” type of mentality.

  • But women have different places to accumulate fat the most. Two women who have same bf%, and say one of them accumulate it more on the upper body area, where as the other one, lets say gains more fat on the lower body area won’t have the same bf percentage with this same formula. So how can this be accurate? And if this isn’t, what is the more accurate formula? I’d like to know.
I have the most body fat on my waist and hip area, my legs and arms are extremely skinny that if i use this formula Id be considered athlete.

  • Funny how you mention the unhealthy range for women, and point to the healthy 20 something procent. But you do put the male Athlean range in the unhealthy range for men. Since 10-15% is far mor healthy than anything below, and cannot be maintained if your life does not revolve around it, if even then. Naturally atleast.
It has always astounded me why women are almost always placed in the healthy 20-25% range by most proffesionals, but for men they make the range much too low. Abs aren`t neccesarily healthy, and for most people actually less healthy than just some lighter showing in the right conditions.

  • When you compare yourself to the chart do you flex your abs or no? There’s a big difference between me flexing my abs and not flexing.

  • Lol! Thanks for the vid, and not only this one but all of them Jeff! I really like the fact that you incorporate humor in with your teaching methods, I am truly going for my fitness goals and seeing the results I thought were only a dream and alot of it can be created to you. I was kinda built like Jessie. I quit drinking almost a year ago and that was the start of it all, no junk food and healthy eating that I actually enjoy!! I’m 41 and I’m seeing results that alot of guys half my age don’t even have. I can’t thank you enough and will continue my journey with your advice/channel!!! Thanks a million, Josh.

  • Additional motivation is so important! I have been on a fat loss plan and just yesterday noticed I can see my back muscles flex now! So exciting!

  • I’m on board with Jeff’s other video “Why you’ll never have six-pack abs!” It’s true. I won’t. And I’m okay with that…as long as I can still lift and put on muscle, I’m good

  • Is it okay if I disagree with the hard workout and then smoothie, example. Although the smoothie is 800kcal and the workout burnt only 600kcal, you must take into account the continued calories burnt after the workout eg stimulating muscle synthesis and recouperation/glycogen replenishment, healing of tissues, which burns kcal’s, not to mention the elevated metabolic rate after a workout (esp cardio) which will cause more calories burnt. Therefore although during the, say, 1 hour workout you burnt 600kcal, the overall affect of the workout for that day could have burnt a total of 1200kcal. This is more true with HIIT type training and bodybuilding training.

Also some foods especially vegetables and salads BURN calories DURING digestion. Eg celery/cucumber…. Although the validity of this claim is dubious it is worth considering.

Overall I think we should think of working out as a spark or stimulus to create a better environment both within and outside the body.

The video was GREAT, mind you, and the take home message of not getting caught up in false perceptions and minutiae was well bought across. You did tail off a little at the end though. I hope for an expanded video next time.

P.s. How accurate and valid is the water in the hands test? Never heard of it before sounds mega cool if it’s true (not saying it isn’t).

May Allah guide us to success in this life and the next. Assalaamalikum

  • Thank you for the interesting video, it’s really helpful. Actually, I invite you to join my channel to relax music. I am a commitment to lose weight, let’s see your next video.

  • Dude! I always love your presentation. And you and Jessie are hilarious. Thanks for the formula. I’d never seen it so succinctly broken down that way.
