Mac Miller Self Care

So, what is self-care, really? It’s being intentional about doing something you know will preserve or improve your mental, emotional and physical health. When done right, self-care reduces stress and enhances quality of life. Self-care will vary a great deal from. The case for Self-Care.

TED Talk by Guy Winch on “Why we all need to practice emotional first aid.”. The Case for Self-Care. As I’ve interviewed women across the country and many different fields for our podcast, The Fullness of Midlife, a couple of themes recur.

One of them is self-care, which I’ve discussed with a yoga instructor, a health sciences researcher, and. Self-Care Involves Self-Sacrifice. This doesn’t rule out self-sacrifice.

Taking care of ourselves can mean self-denial and self-sacrifice. Jesus tells us to deny ourselves: If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. The Case for Self-Care and Over-The-Counter Medicines. The Case for Self-Care and Over-The-Counter Medicines: VALUE-ADD TO HEALTH CARE AND PRODUCTIVITY FOR EMPLOYEES AND EMPLOYERS. Work Place.

Let’s take a look at the common condition of many. We work countless hours, take care of our families, endure life’s unpredictable tragedies, embrace the chaos of success and accomplishment, and sometimes engage in philanthropic or volunteer efforts all for. A Case for Self Care.

April 7, 2020 Ashley Aborisade Self-Care 0. There is no doubt that we are currently living in a new normal. At the time of my writing this, we are four weeks into a stay-at-home order issued in Texas to slow the spread of COVID-19, or the coronavirus. The U.S. President is making daily updates on the progress of the.

A recent Harris Poll reported that self-care isn’t a priority for consumers because 44 percent believe self-care is only possible for people with. Self care means paying attention to your needs, your hopes, your heart. Sometimes that means allowing discomfort instead of numbing it.

Sometimes it means being honest about your own stress and grief and crankiness. And then: using those emotions as data for what needs attention in your life. Too many of us deal with common psychological-health issues on our own, says Guy Winch. But we don’t have to.

He makes a compelling case to practice emotional hygiene — taking care of our emotions, our minds, with the same diligence we take care of our bodies.

  • COVIDNINETEEN VACINATIONS, THE 1ST STEP TOWARDS THE MARK OF THE BEAST IS HERE SOON. A great and formidable enemy seeks to enter into the very blood of My children through the altering of your DNA. Because of the curse that came about after the fall of the first man Adam, I came to make a way for you. You are renewed and made clean again by your belief and salvation in Me, your King and Messiah, sent by My Father to redeem you by My blood sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary. Only through Me, the Door, corruptible is made incorruptible, unredeemable made redeemable. I have ransomed you in order to bring creation back to its Creator. Creator YHWH was made flesh to overcome death, hell, and the grave, and to take what was tainted and impure and make it whole again.

The spiritual battle that is raging now is ultimately to strip you of the Divine image of Myself that has been placed within the DNA of My creation. Ask Me for more wisdom and revelation about this and it will be given to you. The veil was torn, access granted when I shed My blood, died and rose again. We have created you in Our image, and when you walk in holiness, righteousness and purity, obeying My commandments, I am enthroned on your heart. You are then transformed in body, soul and spirit. When this transformation occurs, the very frequency of your cells then resonates with Me and raises you closer to your Creator and further away from the lower realm and lower frequencies which keep you bound. This is by design, and when indwelled, My Holy Spirit will be the gatekeeper of your heart, and your entire being, My sanctuary, and the place where I reside in you. When this occurs, My Kingdom is on earth, as it is in Heaven. It is then that I am able to provide victory over the curse for you, preserving the Divine design I have placed within your DNA. There are many layers of revelation to know what is coded there and hidden, secrets to be revealed to only those who overcome.

However, if the gates are breached by sin, lack of obedience, compromise, or lukewarmness, the enemy sets up thrones (strongholds) instead of Me, because my laws, My Word have not been written on your hearts. You have a sworn enemy whose utter mission is to destroy you. He will stop at nothing, and as My Word has foretold, the time is here when the greatest of all violence and evil against My people, those made in My image, is taking place. The battle is for the soul, and the battle is about the blood. Satan’s ultimate goal from the beginning was to corrupt the seed, corrupt the blood that carries My blueprint in you, My design for those made in Our image, your DNA.

There is only one way to ensure that My Throne is upon your heart and your eternal destination is sealed, or your soul will be lost forever. Your must be born again. Your heart must be sealed with My blood. You must be quick to repent often and seek holiness above all else. Love what is true and just. Be extremely careful what your eyes see and your ears hear. This is guarding your heart, guarding its gate. It is in sealing these portals to the soul, in commanding the spirit to govern or have mastery over the soul, that you overcome. You will then be prepared for My return, and be protected from the evil one.

If you have not already done so, seal the portals to the enemy now! Confess your sins and repent for the midnight hour is here! Bind the access points that have given satan legal rights within your temples, within your body, mind, soul and spirit. Give satan and all his dark kingdom a certificate of divorce and be free from the bondage, and from all the oppression and possession in your bloodline immediately! Break the curse from your ancestors back to Adam. Cover it all with My blood and command the enemy out of your bloodline, sealing it as well, the gates to your heart, using the authority you have been given through Me. Exercise dominion as a gatekeeper and a son or daughter of the Most High God, taking your positions as heirs to My Kingdom. My Holy Spirit will then have permission to use you for My glory and manifest through you in this crucial hour.

(Please see the prayers on the right hand side bar and the one titled Increased Demonic Warfare Prayer covers everything He is instructing here)

This must be done this moment!! This is crucial! Precious moments remain before the implementation of the enemy’s plan to destroy the DNA of My creation, making you forever unredeemable. The Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence and it must be taken by force! Take My Holy Word and dispossess what has had control of your gateways and that of your family line through covenants, oaths, soul trades and agreements made by your ancestors. Do it this moment! In Me you will be made FREE!

The implementation of the plans to alter your DNA and make it programmable by something other than Me, your Creator, are here. I control and govern the DNA I have placed within you, but if you allow man to administer anything within your bodies, that will recode your DNA, I will no longer be the controller. I will no longer recognize you as My creation. You will have become a mixture of something else, an altered form of man and technology, and therefore, not in My image any longer. Do you understand what I am saying? Truly the hour is here when you must prepare to make the choice to remain fully human, infused with My Spirit. The enemy wants nothing more than to deceive you through propaganda, fear and manipulation and cause you to allow either a mark or an implant (vaccine or digital tatoo) into your bodies that will forever separate you from Me. This is your reality right now! You must know what you will choose to do.

When you open doors to the enemy through sin and through your choices in life outside of My ways, the demonic spirits appoint gatekeepers over your heart, your mind, and your soul. Then those spirits invite more, and when no repentance occurs, strongholds occur. The heart of an unregenerate man is wicked and deceitful above all things. But My Word is quick, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing apart of your soul and spirit, your joints and marrow, as I discern the thoughts and intentions of your heart. Allow Me to write My laws on your heart and you will know truth at last. You will know what is now directly in front of you and the choices that are here for you and your loved ones. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, but it does NOT have to be this way. Allow My glory to penetrate your spirit so that your soul will come under submission. To not allow this, means you will remain in bondage and you will be easily deceived. If I do not dwell in you fully, and your gates have been breached, another will easily influence you and take governance.

My people, I have given you the keys to the Kingdom. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in Heaven and whatever is loosed on earth will be loosed in Heaven. Bind the strongman, bind the strongholds on your life and be delivered!

The technology for the mark of the beast is here. It is upon you. It will be presented at first to be taken voluntarily, then very soon after, you will not be able to buy, sell or work. Do not wait another moment. Come out of Babylon and make Me King of your heart, the Divine Gatekeeper of your soul.

The evil ones have set in motion their wicked schemes, as it must be so according to My Word. Many, many judgments will occur as I allow them. This is to wake up My church. You must know where you stand in your walk with Me, because in an instant, everything will change, and there will not be another opportunity to choose, because the choice will be made for you. You are either all in, or I am turning you over to your carnal mind and nature. You have the choice My loves, choose life and eternity in Me over eternal death in darkness. The time is now.

  • Crazy how in the song he mentioned “Like September I fall” sure enough he died in September. I feel like this was his call out to the world

  • Man Mac Miller was a legend just like xxxtentacion just like Lil peep just Like juice world we all lost the legend rest in peace with all the legends we lost over the years

  • All great points, but if you’re physically unable to exercise/clean/cook etc due to illness or disability then please don’t force yourself beyond your limits. Hopefully you will able to do your self care another day, but if you can’t (chronic illness people this is mainly for you) it is not your fault and you are not failing (Melanie I know you haven’t implied any of this, but I know from experience how easy it is to get into a downward spiral when someone puts emphasises on a particular self care such as tidying and cleaning the home, when we are lucky if we can shower once a week). As Melanie says we all matter and have worth even when we are trapped in our homes, our beds, our bodies (no matter how hard it is to remember and believe).

  • The video and song speak to me so much, the way he just doesnt give a fuck in the start, grabs a cig and starts smoking is relatable

  • The other day a girl in work was telling us a story about how every few days on her way to work she would walk past a homeless man, one day he asked her for some money to get some food/a coffee, she told him that she would rather just buy that for him and asked if he would like a cappuccino, delighted he looked up and said ‘yes I’d love one, can I have some chocolate sprinkle and cream too?’ And she found him so endearing that this became a little routine. I was just blown away by how sweet this girl is?! Like imagine if more people were this humble and kind!

  • I still remember listening to Swimming the moment it was released on Youtube. Mac was heavily underrated in my opinion and is my favorite artist of all time. Faces is my favorite mixtape and Macadelic was my favourite album. Circles and swimming was amazing though.

  • That flow. I was walking down the popular street in my city with my AirPods in and my coffee in my hand with this song playin and fck did I feel good. I love you Mac. Rest in power.

  • September 7th is my bday when I found out you passed MAC I died inside many times as I have before I wish I showed my talent to you before you passed so you can know you weren’t alone…

  • I like listening to music while coloring or just simply having my eyes closed listening to music. depending on how I feel, my music changes. helpful to have different playlists depending on how they make you feel that way you can listen to what you need or want.

  • Connection terminated, I’m sorry to interrupt you, Elizabeth, if you still even remember that name, but I’m afraid you have been misinformed. You are not here to receive a gift, nor have you been called here by the individual you assume, although you have indeed been called. You have all been called here, into a labyrinth of sounds and smells, misdirection and misfortune. You don’t even realize that you are trapped, your lust for blood has driven you in endless circles, chasing the cries of children in some unseen chamber, always seeming so near, yet somehow out of reach. But you will never find them, none of you will. This is where your story ends. And to you, my brave volunteer, who somehow found this job listing not intended for you, although there was a way out planned for you, I have a feeling that’s not what you want. I have a feeling that you are… right where you want to be. I am remaining as well, I am nearby. This place will not be remembered, and the memory of everything that started this can finally begin to fade away, as the agony of every tragedy should. And to you monsters trapped in the corridors, be still, and give up your sprits. They don’t belong to you. For most of you, I believe there is peace, and perhaps more waiting for you after the smoke clears. Although, for one of you, the darkest pit of H*ll has opened up to swallow you whole. So don’t keep the devil waiting, old friend. My daughter, if you can hear me, I knew you would return as well. It’s in your nature to protect the innocent. I’m sorry that on that day, the day you were shut out and left to die, no one was there to lift you into their arms the way you lifted others into yours. And then, what became of you. I should’ve known you wouldn’t be content to disappear, not my daughter. I couldn’t save you then, so let me save you now. It’s time to rest, for you and for those you carried into your arms. This ends for all of us. End communication.

  • Nice video. This video of self-care action plan will tell about some ways to take care of yourself. Click here for more

  • Thank you for creating this video! As everyone adapts to this pandemic, we must be even more intentional with our self-care practices too. I’ve added it to the extensive self-care playlists I curate on my channel

  • A great video. This video tells how to take care of yourself and your loved ones during this pandemic. This works best. Click here to know more

  • I started a bullet journal/daily target list with stuff like going to bed by a set time, finishing physio by a set time, washing my hair, doing some exercise, going outside. I’ve set it to count up how many points I got and what % of that day’s points I got, plus an average % for the week. If I got a low score for a couple of days I can see what needs to be done and do it. I now automatically brush my hair every day because I got a point for it.

  • I do puzzles because they are started and let unfinished in my house by others and it pisses me off to no end that it’s not finished. SO I MUST DO THE PUZZLE

  • I think I understand what my problem with ‘self care’ is:
doesn’t account for disabled, chronically ill folk
places the responsibility on avoiding burnout and mental distress caused by capitalism on the individual, rather than acknowledge the cause of a capitalist society and seek to dismantle it.
classist, how can you take a break from work when you already aren’t making enough?

It’s just like all of these other things that frame it as the individual’s problem and not caused by capitalism.

See: green capitalism. Which holds the narrative that it is the responsibility of individuals to not pollute rather than the 100 companies responsible for about 80% of global emissions. It further moralizes socioeconomic status if you can’t buy re-usable containers, you’re evil. If you use disposable straws, you’re evil, despite the fact that many disabled people need to use straws and re-usable straws are dangerous when not completely sanitized (which can be impossible for some disabled and chronically ill folk!). It’s also why I hate white veganism.

so if you’re out here talking about ‘drink more water’ ‘take breaks when you need to’ bs I will be mad at you because that is NOT innocent. You are willfully ignoring the problem which you have the privileged and resources to put towards dismantling. (because I only see this from middle upper class white folk) It also leaves folks who you give your ‘advice’ feeling like something is wrong with them for not being able to complete them, when really what is wrong is the structure preventing them from it.

Recognizing that there is nothing wrong with you for being unable to meet your needs when being actively blocked from them by capitalism, has done a whole lot more for my mental health than any ‘self care’

  • 2 years ago, 2 years ago I lost a friend that didn’t even know me, I’ll always remember the 7th of September, 4 days after my 20th birthday my favorite rapper died, mac bro I miss you, we all miss you, after swimming I was wondering how you could top such a personal masterpiece, now I’ll never know. Forever wondering. Most dope.

  • Morning workout, good food, good supplement, skin care regimen, hair care, dental care, good laughter, good music, favourite fun activities.

  • I want to learn or improve my self care because i want to be a better half for my partner! She helps me to grow and i also want to help my self grow to live a better life for myself and my partner:)

  • Lately I’ve been accepting myself as I am more. For instance, I’m not much of a “girly girl”, so things like mani-pedis or makeup or bubble baths don’t make my list of self-care things. Not that there’s anything wrong with those things, they just don’t make me feel better. For instance, I’d rather go for a walk in the woods, which might not be everyone’s thing. So my advice to people would be: don’t worry if things that you’re told should be part of your self-care don’t work for you. If you identify as a woman but the “girly” things just don’t do it for you, find what does! Same for those who identify as men (I actually think this applies to any demographic category.) You do you!

  • Is there like a dating app for like friendships, I’m starting to get socially inept because i haven’t been out of the house for non-work in months

  • My Libra sun and Virgo moon brought me here after I was dragged and told I need more nurture in my life from myself! Here I am searching how to do it, self care ☺️

  • Tip: Eat in peace and without watching a screen or listening to people speaking. Be one with your food, I find this is a healthy thing to do.

  • Self-care start with learning more about yourself, for sure! When you are aware of your moods, what stresses you out, what feels good, then you can more readily get into the self-care that feeds your soul. I’m designing an online course geared towards just that.
Currently, I’m in the early stages and researching this topic to see where peoples’ pain bodies are and how you address them. Any input or feedback can be directed to me [email protected] Mahalo!

  • I try to live by ‘if you wouldn’t say it to your best friend, don’t say it to yourself’. It does take practice but simply noticing when you criticize yourself in a non-helpful negative way can make a huge difference to slowly changing how you think, and it does become easier (though I don’t know if it will ever become second nature to never have those thoughts).

  • I was assaulted sexually by two people at different times in my life, I’m currently breaking down with anxiety, I can’t eat, or sleep or anything. I hope I can get the right help.

  • A super smart lady I know have me the secret. Treat yourself how you would treat a three year old.

    1. Good healthy snacks, frequently throughout the day.
    2. Lots of water!
    3. Some time outside
    4. A little time in front of a good show.
    5. A yummy dinner.
    6. A walk after a yummy dinner.
    7. A bath after the awesome walk.
    8. A book after the bath.
    9. A few minutes of quiet time, after the book. Finish your mug of warm milk, if that’s how you roll.
    10. Lights out early with a super hydrating night cream. ASMR videos are a wonderful option, as is cuddling with a stuffy or a dog or whatever else that makes you feel at peace.

  • They say you can project your consciousness into multiple planes of existence and I think that’s exactly what Mac had. An exceptional ability to reach every single one of his fans and he’s still alive through all of us.

  • I remember one time at work there was a toilet cubicle locked for a real long time and it was deathly silent in there so I looked under and see a pair of shoes and like two empty sandwich boxes on the floor. So I think ok she’s just real silent no big deal she’s on her phone or something. Anyway like 45mins later I went back there again and the same cubicle was still locked and I looked again and the same pair of shoes and sandwich boxes were right there. So I though oh fuck someone died. So I got security and went back there and they used this special key to unlock the door and it turned out there was a woman there with IBS shitting and also eating a lot sandwiches

  • Awesome video. I have been “adulting” for 33 years and still haven’t figured it all out. I love the programs you are producing and the topics covered. I have referred them to my adult children and whoever else might listen. I wish I knew things sooner, but happy to be learning them now. You have a great personality. Please keep these videos coming.

  • Im 99% sure I’m depressed (I still need to go to my doctors) but I feel such an irrational and intense self hatred that any form of self care for me just feels like I’m wasting time on myself when I’ve got so much to do and it kind of feels like just burying my head in the sand. I really want to get better and just be kinder to myself overall, and I think that having some kind of self care routine will be really good for me, but I just don’t think i deserve it.

  • I work for an non-profit helping women and children our staff could get a lot from this video. Is it possible to use this video for our staff training on self-care?

  • Does anybody know where I can find the spreadsheet of T. Michael Martin that Hank mentions?.. I tried googling it but couldn’t find anything

  • This is a great video. The most important thing to focus on in times of stress is self-care. Our therapists put together their favorite “self-care” reminders in a video

  • hi katya and trixie im a huge drag fan every time a rupauls drag race episode releases im watching it with my family. please replie

  • Oh I love this content! So well done thank you! I love how you talked about self-care being simply the mind-set that we are each responsible for ourselves. I’m passionate about the self-care journey as well, it’s so personal to each person. For women, join my facebook group and the incredible group of supportive women that are already there! We would love to have you all. The group is called “Caring to Care: Self-care for Women” and it’s free to join. Here’s the link

  • I’m glad I found this video. My physical and mental health has reached a breaking point. You beautifully articulated what I have been feeling and how to move forward. Thank you.

  • Very nice presentation to bring awareness to those factors that affect us all. How to take steps which not only help us in the work place, but in our personal lives. Taking care of our health is so important, both physical and mental.

  • Splitting self care into seven different areas has really changed the way I view myself and my life. Once I started addressing separate areas, my whole life changed. I’ve never worked on all seven areas at once though. I’m just starting to do that so it’s inspiring to know that is possible and has such great results. Thank you!

  • Around 13:28, your hair looks REALLY GOOD shorter like that!! it reminds me the period when you had copper hair and a fringe, i love this length on you:)

  • You’re beautiful and brilliant. Thank you for sharing…I have immense respect for your honesty, ambition and desire to share. Too often women run themselves into the ground with the best of intentions…I’m one of them. Bless you.

  • wow wow wow wow. I am a peer educator at the University of California Riverside and I was assigned a chapter of “Holistic Leadership” in my class to create a video about! The chapter pertains to the development of the whole person and my thoughts were to make self-care the objective in order to hit the major points of the chapter. You conveyed the holistic words, moral like actions, and inclusive words that I was looking for to make my presentation relevant and more significant then just putting on a face mask. thank you so much!! I wish you well and will definitely be reverting to this video in the future.:,)

  • Yes self-care is so important to the system as a whole. If we can support each other in self-care we can support each other as a whole way more.

  • Great presentation. Having the community support and the support of our work organizations is vital to our mental and physical health. It definitely help us stay accountable for our individual self care.

  • That was wonderful! I love how you connected self care to systematic issues and solutions as well as made it practical for most people to work towards! So inspiring and informative

  • Hi Katya and Trixie. I do puzzles because they are relaxing and they force you to concentrate on finding the words you are looking for and you become so totally engrossed in it that you literally lose track of time. So, yes, I love doing puzzles. P.S. I absolutely love you both. I listen to and sing alone with Read U Wrote U everyday.

  • The puzzles with the universal shapes don’t do anything for me, but I LOVE wooden puzzles that have the pieces cut as their own small thing. It’s more challenging and relaxing to appreciate each piece as its own little sculpture and see the big sculpture come to life while your brain sort of vegges out.

  • I do these types of self care and I can tell that they really work!! I also recommend listening to music that will let you pour all your suppressed emotions out since some of us tend to bottle it up like hiding feelings is an extreme sport,, but make sure to listen to reassuring/calming music afterwards to close some opened wounds of the past

  • Accurate AF about senior homes! I worked at several and not only do they all sleep with eachother, it goes from funny to borderline depressing because so many of them forget who their wives or husbands are that they’ll cheat on each other forget be confused why they have an STD, get fixed, do it all over again. It’s like a weird version of Russian roulette but everyone in their is shockingly horny for their age

  • I do puzzles because my great grandmother (who was a savage and lived to 94) loved them and kept her mind active so I do them to remind myself that there’s so much life to live and so much to enjoy

  • Wow, I am really glad I found this video. I was searching self-care on the tube, and here I am. I’ve seen the chemistry crash course videos, which helped me a lot. I’m in my 30s, just going back to school, majoring in biochem, and working full-time in food service still. I have some major mental health issues, too. Self-care wasn’t even in my vocabulary a year ago. Thanks so much for making an informative and easy-to-watch video. Love your work, keep it up and heartfelt congrats on the baby.

  • Yes! Love this. Self-care is my JAM! I coach a lot of clients through developing and prioritizing their self-care routines and the main thing I see is that there is a vicious cycle in losing energy. Just like anything else, it gains momentum and can feel impossible to do what will help us feel better even if we WANT to. It’s important to remember that:

    A) It doesn’t have to be long and involved. It just has to be healthy.

    B) It doesn’t have to look like we’re told self-care looks. It just has to leave us feeling a bit better than when we started.

    C) There are plenty of options.

We have to focus on doing the things that’ll help you move the needle even just a little bit. I love the warm and fuzzy file idea!

  • I was recently diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression and my therapy group send me weekly puzzles to pass the time and keep me busy during lockdown and to stop my brain from ovethinking. I never do the crosswords but i loooooooove wordsearches

  • its a year later but why i love puzzles has become a recent thing, haven’t touched since i was wee bab (im 21 now) and i went to an airbnb and they had one there and i got addicted, there a fun thing to pass the time when i need my hands to be busy instead of being depressed

  • I’m 14 years old and not an adult, but it is really helpful! I’m interested in how i can make my life better and this video helped me a bit❤️

  • Me and Katya are very similar I don’t really like baths hate puzzles I don’t really like sexting and I would never call someone daddy unless I came from there dick so if your bi and single hmu in 3 years xx

  • I did a 500 piece puzzle with my mom. It’s just kind of relaxing and a challenge. Like 12 piece puzzles are easy so what’s the point? But hard puzzles are a challenge and my mom and I have a competition sometimes with who will put the last piece. Also people could bond over it as well.

  • I like puzzles because I really like sorting things. Its satisfying putting the pieces together. Its a solo, slow paced game that makes you really focus on the moment. Finally when you have a complete puzzle, you feel extremely proud because puzzles can be hard work. Then you can either seal the puzzle and hang up some awesome art, or tear it apart because nothing fucking matters.

  • First this is on my moms account but I do puzzles because its fun to put all the patterns together and its like a little hit of dopamine like fuck yeah I’m getting this puzzle.

  • Omg! I hate puzzles! They’re all out of order! I’d sooner organize the dvd bins at Walmart! I mean puzzles? Really? Like your thought process is: I don’t have enough anxiety in my life, I need to create some self inflicted false anxiety, to feel accomplished later? I really don’t understand.

  • I really needed this video at this very moment, thank you! ❤️
At 20, I feel like I didn’t do any personal growth since I was 16. Even though during the last years it felt like I was learning a lot about life, relationships and myself, it feels like my growth has ‘collapsed’, if that makes any sense. I still feel like the same emotional mess I was in my teenage years. I may have become confident in the way I look, but I’ve been told by a lot of people lately that I talk way to negatively about my (inner) self.
It’s comforting to hear from you & people in the comments that it’s never too late to start caring for yourself.
I’m looking into getting professional help, after some friends reassured me that I deserve it. I always thought a low self-image wasn’t a big enough problem to go get help for, bc I didn’t want to take the spot of someone who ‘really needs it’ (I was thinking of people who are depressed or have suicidal thoughts etc.).
What you said about ‘caring for yourself as you do for a loved one’ really hit me. I guess I never thought of myself as a loved one? I would never put my friends down like I put myself down. Maybe it’s time to befriend myself.

  • Watchig this video has opened my eyes to how far I’ve actually come, in therms of everything. But still, there’s room to grow. I think we will lern to master life and be kind to ourself our whole life long.

  • Hey Doc✌️ Great Tedx Talk. You are an inspiration and an important voice we all need to hear. Thank you for your courage and transparency. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

  • A journal is also a good therapy, I have been keeping one since I had my stroke in may 2017. I’ve missed a few days here and there but for the most part have tried to write everyday, and then reading it from time to time, lets you know how far you’ve come.

  • I don’t usually comment on youtube videos, but now I choose to do so in order to thank your for this. I’m only 19 and I feel like I should have it all figured out already tasks in and around the house, mental health, working out, planning and scheduling, family plans….and it’s sooo good to see that it’s full on okay to not be there yet and to understand that life and learning as a process doesn’t end at 25. No pressure there, just growth. So yeah, thank you so much for sharing this! Have a great day:)

  • I feel like Jasmine is a mini Ashley (BestDressed) or big sister for us young students. They both have plants and give tips to help us improve.:)

  • The ripple affect is very true, everything you do impacts someone else. I am so thankful for the little things friends have done or said that have made me who I am and given me a load of confidence and I try to reflect this with my behaviour towards others too

  • Omg that intro music sounds like the music in Spirited Away! And great content. I’m 23 and aspire to make a lot of these changes myself. There’s a lot to work on, but picking one or two things and starting there is my approach so far.

  • Great video! I’m also reaching the end of my twenties and getting to those takeaways too very good to hear this and hammer it in!
Also, I want to compliment you on how carefully you pick your sponsorships ☺️ always good products&brands and it really builds trust

  • Thank you so much for this video. I have loved this whole series but I think this one is my favorite. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us.

  • Love this, I feel like self indulgence is often mistaken for self care. Going to the dentist is self care, binging on donuts is self indulgence, we need to learn the difference.

  • I am worried that taking care of the baby will hit you very hard. You will not have time for self care as you do now. Night and morning routine, haha, that will be a joke. Baby will be tied to the tit, basically, zero sleep, if you take a shower in a day, it’s gonna be a good day.
This video is so chill, loving it.

  • I’d love to hear more about building healthy friendships as an adult! I’m in a similar state, having distanced myself from a lot of negative people but struggling to build new connections. Where do you start when you don’t have something like University, school, etc to meet people? How do you form connections when so many people in adulthood aren’t interested in meeting new people?

  • I’m applying this since i’m +27 (i’m 31 now too) and more since last year… because i did some neuropsy tests and i was “declared” with HPi (i think you’re also with high potential intel. Mel ;)). My whole life had finally found a meaning, an explanation, aswers! I’ve started to take more care of myself from that day. And it feels sooooooo good ♡

  • So, so important! Loved this video-thank you for touching on all aspects of self-care, not just the “treat yo self” aspects! Still working on these myself:)

  • I really love the division between the different kinds of selfcare because I’ve never seen it explained that way! I’m doing a lot for myself but sometimes I feel like I haven’t done enough and now I understand it’s because I focus on only one or two types of selfcare but completely neglect the other! Gonna make a plan for that later this week.:D

  • I love this video! It was only this year from working with my CBT therapist that I started to realise how I had no boundaries and would just make myself available no matter what. Also had trouble saying no But I have honestly gotten so much better at it over the last couple months. And really thinking about what I want out of life and for my future. It’s still odd putting myself first more, because one of my ‘rules for living’ I created was to never be selfish, that being selfish was bad. I know now it’s not. It’s been strange learning that you can still take care of yourself and be considerate of others. The social self care part really helped me with a problem I’ve been having, so thank you for that This video will be a great reminder for me. And if anyone else reads this who is struggling, it is absolutely possible to rewire your brain! I didn’t think it was, but I’ve noticed how I think and what I do has changed since doing CBT. Thanks for the amazing content, Melanie!

  • Wow Melanie, I really needed this video! I’m 20 and currently in med school. I’m extremely stressed out, my current course is really making me want to give up because of the sheer work load. I have a tendency to stop feeling stressed in these kind of situations, and instead just bury my head in the sand completely ignoring the reality. I’ve instead started to let the stress manifest in reviving my old disordered eating habits, and just being really mean to myself. After watching your video I realise I HAVE to change my habits or else I’m going to end up in a really dark place. I’m going to start attending work-out classes with old ladies LOL, and I’m not going to procrastinate any studying i need to do. I also really want to push for talking with your friends and sharing what you feel, which I need to work on. I can feel my mindset has already shifted, I want my happy and positive self back! Much love from Sweden ❤️

  • You are such a breath of fresh air. Thank you for sharing your life’s work towards contentedness with us. We can all relate to some aspect of your story and take away a tip.

  • The last bit you talked about how YOU matter I have just come to understand and accept this in the last year (I’m 25). I started keeping promises to myself like “You promised you’d dance today” or “You promised you’d meditate tonight” and when I came through for myself it clicked that everything I do does matter and makes a difference. I used to kind of float around thinking, as long as I’m good to the people around me, it doesn’t matter how I treat myself. But that’s just not the case! Thanks for this series and your never-ending inspiration!!

  • Melanie have you considered reading “The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up.” I haven’t read it personally but I also hate cleaning and people have recommended it to me a lot

  • they say that when we die we don’t take anything! Mac Miller It took a lighter 1 cigarette and a knife.
dizem que quando morremos não levamos nada! Mac Miller pegou um esqueiro 1 cigarro e uma faca.

  • YouTube take note of the adverts you watch all the way through and play them again and again right I am going to skip the ads because that’s crafty

  • I am 40 years old and appreciate you. You are inspiring, insightful, bright and charismatic. Your advice is meaningful and well considered. I feel so proud of you when I see you. Best wishes from South Africa

  • ‘Social Self Care’ is first time I am hearing it coined like that. I was definitely neglecting it and surrounding myself with people who don’t care about how I feel and saw it as me complaining. It took a toll me and is still, but I am making changes about who I choose to be around.

  • Melanie, I can’t explain how helpful and eye-opening this series is. I’m 22 and everything you said through your videos has helped me SO MUCH. I’ve truly become a better person, for me and for the others, so thank you

  • I am so thankful that you exist and that you have a YouTube channel because your advices, your actitude, your growth, etc. have made such an impact in my life. I really look up to you, not in a “she is perfect and I want to be like her” way, I really admire your ability to change and adapt and evolve. I’ve grown up with people telling me that changing is bad, but there is no other way you can grow and discover what you want for yourself in life. Changing is self care, so thank you for teaching me that!

  • This is why I subscribed to you ♥️ you’re full of advice on life’s deeper meaning/life practices. Not just makeup and superficial stuff. Thank you for sharing your life experience and helping others ♥️

  • Hey Melanie..
First of all good to see u was waiting for ur video to come
Me as a family oriented woman always put myself least which i think lot contributed in my depression n i will say thoughts for self harming myself just comes n goes..
Thanku for making us realize dat we deserve to live for ourselves ❤️

  • I love this series, but as someone who has just turned 30 I’m like… ‘Wow, yeah, I’m actually still a bit f***ed up, to be honest.’ You are so wise.

  • I’m only in the very beginning of the vid but… thank you for this message Mel, truly important and so often overlooked!! I ‘adulted’ the hard way, finding it extremely hard to take care of me and my surroundings and alternating moments of intense activity (working, going out) with drowsing on my bed. In addition to the practical problems induced by procrastination and neglect, I felt ashamed on my inability to adjust to a normal “daily life”. It took me a couple of years to realize I did not take care of myself because I did not think myself worthy of the care. And that it probably came down to the way my family were treating themselves when I was a kiddo. Seems corny but it totally changed my life and I’m so happy about it!! Now back to the vid! Love you lots!

  • This is such a wonderful video!! I’m 28, and I’ve actually really learned a lot of these points in quarantine since March. When the world forced me to slow down (I live in busy NYC!), I finally had time to breathe and look at what I needed for me. I’ve started journaling, budgeting, keeping up with yoga, practicing gratitude and positive self talk, reaching out to friends, setting myself up for my next chapter (moving in with my partner!)… this has all been incredibly beneficial and it’s something I really hope I carry with me beyond quarantine into regular life. I can’t recommend quality self care enough… thanks for putting it all so concisely Melanie! <3

  • When Siri says “you’re welcome” and we are all suddenly reminded we are living in a governed land with automated spies everywhere.

  • This video really hits the nail on the head. Over the last year and a half I’ve been learning about self care and it’s honestly changed my life. It takes a while to build these things into a habit and to change the negative self talk but its sooo worth it. Thank you Melanie for making this video

  • Great video! I haven’t stopped to think how much goes into self-care, I always just thought a face mask and a movie was treating myself I really love thinking of it like benefiting your future self, I’ll keep that in mind whenever I’d rather lazy around!

  • This series is so interesting, so many useful tips, thank you. Also I always find that if I accept compliments even if I don’t agree deep down it creates a much more positive atmosphere.

  • What a powerful video melanie you look awesome and beautiful.i love your pregnant pics on your Instagram site you are awesome melanie.

  • When Siri said thank you, I couldn’t But in all seriousness, thank you for sharing your insights, wisdom, and experience to help us get started. I’m in the process of reflection and journaling to get my life together but finding motivation difficult. Wishing you and everyone out there the best of luck in creating their best self and greatest life

  • Loved this! Especially ’cause I think a lot of people seem to really just think of self-care in that hashtag/meme type way that really boils down more to being self-indulgence which, yes, sometimes just indulging oneself by having a lazy day, getting pampered and having yummy takeout can be beneficial for one’s mood and all. But it definitely is true that real self-care in the longterm also encompasses things one might not necessarily want to do, like giving up habits that one enjoys but are ultimately not good for your overall health and wellbeing, or getting up early for a run or walk even if the weather is crap or you’re not feeling like it. Also I really liked the part about practical self-care, because it certainly is super important to get things organized and put in the work to get where you want to be and personally it’s one of the things I probably struggle most with, ’cause on the one hand I am overall really neat and like getting stuff organized, keeping track of stuff, etc, but at the same time, especially when it comes to planning stuff out, I am also a major procrastinator in regards to actually keeping to those plans…
In any case, also on the note of self-care; will your Me Time journals become available again, or did you discontinue them? Cause I thought they looked great and like they could be so useful, especially as from what I gathered the pages weren’t dated so one could just use one whenever without ending up wasting pages ’cause it’s the middle of the year or such…

  • Trying to work on the emotional self care, had my first appointment with a psychologist. Now to embrace all aspects of self care… Thanks for making this video

  • NEW HABITS EPISODE!:) Next episode after this will be visualisation habits as I’ve been having so many conversations with viewers recently via Instagram and comments about that kinda stuff and I’m BIG INTO all of that…please thumbs up the video if you find it valuable it REALLY helps my channel out and that’s why the series has gained so much momentum on here! Your support!

  • Needed this so much right now because i had a burnout for the first time ever. I spent most of the past week outside. It is fun, i had great time with friends and the first sexual experience(!), but i feel so broken and tired now and i just need a lot of sleep.

  • I listen to mac’s “faces” every night before bed (greatest mixtape ever) and I’m a 24 year old man with 3 daughters..his music got me through high school and evolved with me as I did. I’ve never had such a connection to an artist..I love seeing this video had less than 10 mill views 2 years ago to 210+ million let’s me know there’s other out there that appreciate this man for everything he was and can relate..Mac you were a true artist and I miss you so much

  • I am worthy in him
I am fearfully and wonderfully made in him
    I am perfect through him
I am enough Because of God Jesus is king

  • I just wanted to say that I’ve been following you for the last two, three years and you’ve had a huge impact on my self care journey. I’ve had ups and downs in various aspects of it and I’m continuing to learn and try, but it’s been so helpful to see the routines and mindsets and habits of someone who, for lack of a better term, appears to “have their shit together”. Even if I’m just watching you for entertainment or distraction, that wisdom still ends up sinking in through repetition, and even when I’ve had phases where I made bad decision after bad decision and spiraled out of control, videos like this still popped up in my sub box/Instagram feed, gently reminding me that oh right, this is roughly where I’m trying to go and that it is possible, since we’ve had a lot of similar issues. I’m only a few years younger but in a veeeery different life stage still, and I just wanted to say thank you for being a “role model”, as in literally modeling what an example of a fairly healthy life looks like, for people who didn’t have those examples growing up or still don’t see them IRL. I don’t really comment on these videos usually, but I just wanted to say that they matter.

  • Love this I was so depressed at 11-16 I had anorexia, self harm and suicidal thoughts and attempts now years on at nearly 24 I’m a completely different person I love exercise, cross stitch, knitting, reading they all calm me and excite me growing my happiness day by day

  • Thanks for the video, I saw it for curiosity and I found it very calm and inspirational, also relaxing. I think is very useful to reflex if you are living your live the way is the most “appropriate” and healtiest
    Thx again:)

  • My mom never taught me self care, and ended up with depression, anxiety, insomnia, anorexia, and perfectionism OCD… so in conclusion, take care of yourself from a young age and teach your kids self care. It’s a lot easier to start young than to fix 16 years of toxic mindsets

  • It’s frustrating when companies capitalise on something like self-care. For a while, I thought self-care was just a cosmetic thing because it was being used on so many beauty products and ads for beauty products…however, I agree it can be a part of it to some degree. I like to put on sheet masks while setting up my calendar for the week or getting household chores done. I picked swimming as my exercise for the summer because I can go to a local outdoor pool for free (it’s basically a big outdoor pool that gets periodically filled by the sea when the tide comes in) and it sets up a good achievable goal for self-esteem and anxiety management…plus the cold water basically shocks any anxious feelings out of me for a couple of hours afterwards. I like to put on movies or TV shows while in my kitchen and doing a bunch of meals all at once to freeze, then when I’m too tired to cook, I can still have a healthy meal that doesn’t take much work to prepare.

If you can find little, harmless things that make self-parenting and self-care more enjoyable, then incorporating them into it can be great motivation to get them done.

  • Honestly, the only social interaction I get is the rare text with a friend once or twice a month and going downstairs to grab a snack and my dog coming to beg for the food. Pretty dismal self-care, not gonna lie. once quarantine started, I went into a cave (my bedroom) and only come out for food or water, basically. ill work on it. probably. eventually.

  • I think the most impressive thing about all of this is that whilst I think I was in a better place at around 20 than you were around 20, you’re now way ahead of me! I’m still only 26 and a lot can happen in 4 years, but without your series I think I would be a lot more likely to avoid improving anywhere near as much as I should or could do thanks for inspiring me to properly carry on the path of self care and improvement!

  • Oof, you talking about not sleeping in your bedroom because of the piles…I quarantined in my sister’s apartment after we traveled home in March and I have just ended up staying because I know I have to clean out and reorganize my room back home and I’m actively avoiding it now. Keep saying I’m gonna work at it on my days off but have only done my bookshelf. There’s so much of my life in that room and shit I haven’t looked at or used in years. Need a proper purge, and that shit is uncomfortable.

  • Thank you so much for this! I struggle with taking care of myself most of the time…but I am happy to report that my skin has cleared up a bit after i stopped eating so much greasy food and my hair has stopped falling out. I still need to work on losing some weight (for health reasons, as I am overweight) and getting a better sleep schedule, as I either don’t sleep enough or oversleep.

  • I have no idea I missed this, but Hank seeing your face was a very pleasant surprise. Thank you for the video, it helps me find words/examples/phrases to express what I’ve been struggling with.

  • For me self care is:
    sleeping
    eating healthy food
    getting a facial
organize my room, school work and scheduel
    reading a bible ✨

    Btw luv your video’s!✨

  • I’d also recommend doing something that is not school-related each day. Having “me time” helps me to distance myself from all the worries and gain some healthy perspective, because it’s easy to forget that life isn’t about studying only.

  • thank u so much for bringing this conversation to light. <3
i’m going to bookmark this video to watch when i’m going through a rly tough depressive episode where i just feel…dead. during those times, i find myself desperately googling “how to take care of yourself,” but only coming up with the cutsey, instagrammable versions of “self-care” when what i really needed was a guide on just how to be a living, functioning, showering, sleeping human.
also i truly believe that having a decluttered space is important for mental health, so props for mentioning that (and props for pronouncing queen kondo’s name right!!). i really recommend her method btw, it rly helped my mental health and it makes cleaning up after the depression hurricane has hit my room.
again, thank u so much for this video! <3

  • You’re so right when you say it’s like parenting yourself I feel like self care is centred around things my mum would say to me brush your teeth, save your money, eat your vegetables, tidy up your room and open the window

  • It’s like you’ve watched me in the last two weeks because my anxiety and depression came back.. I don’t go out anymore, I don’t go to school I basically don’t do anything and just lay in bed all day… it’s so relieving to watch something like this, and I might try some of this slowly but surely so thank you

  • Honestly this video was very helpful because I only know the Instagram selfcare so when I did such things I felt like I’ve done something good for me but I couldn’t see results or smth. So since I kinda developed anxiety that’s very helpful thank you!

  • I love how you shed light on what self care is actually supposed to be about. I hadn’t previously considered how all these things make you feel calmer and less stressed. Amazing narrative!

  • This is how you can meditate:

    1. It doesn’t matter when or where. It can be on the floor, couch or on your bed before you sleep.

    2. Breath in and out. It’s very simple: just KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. If you’re breathing in, know that. If you’re happy, know that you’re happy. If you hear something, know that you’re hearing it. If you eating, know that you’re eating. JUST BE ALERT.

    3. Meditation is basically just knowing what you are doing and being alert of your actions.

    4. Easiest way is to lay down on your back on the bed, place both plans on your belly. Breath in and breathe out. As you breathe, think and know that you’re breathing in and you’re breathing out.

    5. Do it until you fall asleep. It does t matter how long you do it where you do it. As long as you are aware of your actions and the thought of alertness of you actions, you are meditating.

  • I used to do puzzles with my grandpa when I was little, it was a competition of how fast we could solve it together great memories!

  • LOVING THIS VIDEO ABOUT SELF CARE, honestly it is really educational. Why in the world, am I not surprised that I didn’t win the giveaway.

  • I literally just searched for self-care that was practical and not aesthetic based and came across your video. Needless to say, you’ve got a new subscriber because I wholeheartedly agree with all your points.

  • You’ve always been pretty, but I feel like in the past year our little Jasmine a tiny glow up and has matured! Your like a big sister Jasmine love you

  • hey, do you credit people that sub your videos? i really loved this video and i think i’ll translate it to portuguese because people from brazil are really into studying and self-care stuff but we don’t have that many good content videos, so i was thinking about subbing your videos and sharing them in my twitter and instagram, but i think i’d just do it if you promised to credit my work.

  • Thank you so much for making this video! It really frustrates me when people try hard to make everything instagrammable, instead of focusing on what they really need to do for themselves. This makes me feel a lot better:)
