With zero calories and no sugar, there shouldn’t be any concern Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke. In a recent study published in the American Heart. 11 Reasons You Should Never Drink Diet Soda 9) Diet sodas are marketed as a weight loss gimmick, when in reality, they spike your insulin levels and can actually cause weight gain.

The boost in insulin forces your body to store more fat, which leads to more weight gain. They want to drink soda. Diet sodas are packed full of artificial sweeteners that give the soda a sugary kick, without any of the actual sugar. Because the sweeteners are free of calories, many people believe that drinking. Diabetes is a risk factor for dementia, and diabetics often drink more diet soda on average to limit their sugar intake, which could account for some of the correlation between diet drinks.

  • I noticed that the light orangelemonade in the glass releases tiny bubbles from carbondioxide and it sounded like a tiny schoolbell ringing in the glass, perhaps it is a wake up call.

  • Omg my dad swears diet soda is better than regular soda, he drinks it everyday at almost every hour… Then he teases me because i only drink water or tea

  • Someone i knew died of brain tumors he drank 7 diet cokes a day, was otherwise healthy, and basically the doctors said it was the soda told him it was worse than smoking

  • Humans are evolutionary creatures. We never ate artificial foods until the last 100 plus years or so, but to make the argument that synthetic foods are OK because everything is a chemical is beyond absurd.
Humans did not evolve to eat synthetic chemicals, period.
Although I agree that a ingesting an artificial sweetener on occasion is probably not going to hurt you. But academically speaking, it is not smart to declare man made foods completely safe.
Crisco, margarine, vegetable oils and artificial sweeteners are not food. They are man made chemicals.
Humans NEVER ate any of these polymers until just over a century ago.
That’s tens of thousands of generations of people who evolved to eat real food.
Now with technological advances, we start introducing man-made chemicals into the food supply. How is an organic creature, who did not evolve to eat a man-made chemical going to handle this chemical?
I know people who are seriously addicted to artificial sweeteners. I know people who drink a gallon a day of diet drinks, and have been doing so for years. Would their constant consumption of man-made chemicals have a negative effect on their health?
The same thing goes for man-made medications like statins or beta blockers.
Another argument I have is that people seem to argue their point if they are biased toward something they like.
Coffee is good for you, even though it effects your nervous system, makes you irritable, hard to relax. Is it possible the research is biased because so many people love to drink coffee?
Same thing goes for alcohol and artificial sweeteners. Is the research biased because people like these products?
A good scientist looks at the facts with an unbiased eye.
I do believe this channel is trying to make diet drinks seem safe probably because he loves to drink them.
To me, evolution says artificial sweeteners may not be safe, especially if ingested everyday in mass quantities for years…

  • I swear my phone is listening to me. I drank a diet coke by accident yesterday. Them this pops up first on my feed today. It was disgusting.

  • Correct me if I’m wrong doesn’t most non diet sodas contain fructose instead of sugar unless it’s one of the throwback soda’s that appear occasionally still as for diet Coke isn’t that what the Chosen One drinks and isn’t he in tippy top condition as far as his health goes MAGA Morons Are Governing America resist

  • Just as a side note, it doesn’t help when artificial sweetners DO give people migraines and make them feel sick (I’m one of those people) and when MSG does cause horrible abdominal pains that can last for days (I’m one of those people, too). That said, not all artificial things are bad, but something that repeatedly affects your own health in a negative way IS. Just as gluten (which isn’t an artifical chemical, but large amounts of people who have no wheat allergy still hate it for some strange reason…) is the easiest meat substitute for my body to digest (and real meat, again, causes nasty intestinal problems for me), perhaps MSG and artificial sweetners work fine for other people. It seems to me that it’s so very hard to predict how one person’s body will react to something that, perhaps, we simply need better availability of “special needs” options, rather than to try to make sweeping generalizations. Nevertheless, the soda wars shall likely continue.

  • Lmao people wanna go on a diet? Just drink enough water, even if you’re not thirsty. Eat few calorie foods like apples, bananas and stuff. And do exercise. It literally works for everyone. If you’re gonna say “IT DOESNT WORK FOR ME”

WELL KAREN. MAYBE YOURE EATING TOO MUCH DURING A DIET.

  • It’s not the diet soda that causes the weight gain. It’s more of the artificial sweeteners in it, which trigger you to crave sweets and an increase in hunger, or tricks your body to eat more, which in turn causes weight gain. So then, people blame it all on the diet soda. (Plus the media over exaggerates everything). Diet soda might not always be the best option due to chemicals, but there’s no harm from the weigh gain. When I have it in the house, I usually have two decent size glasses a day, and I always feel fine. It’s all about moderation, to be honest.

  • i drink 1 bottle of coke zero a week or sometimes in 2 weeks, most of the time its with hard alcohol. drinks 3-4 liters of water a day. i don’t think that’s a problem, my blood tests and blood pressure are okay. bikes 20km per day on average, 3x a week on the gym, runs twice in a week and a half

  • Later studies have shown that artificial sweeteners do not cause an insulin response so how does this fit in with diet sodas causing insulin stimulation in the pancreas?

  • Well while all of y’all starve and cry yourselves to sleep I’m going to die a happy 40 year old with a thick cut fried bologna sandwich a Diet Coke and a Marlboro red as my last meal I don’t care how much you health nuts put out there saying it can cause cancer news flash brother I know and I don’t care of course then again this video wasn’t meant for basement hermits I don’t think better go back to porn lest I incur a flame war

  • When i had a virus i was sick and we went to the doctor and the doctor said to drink Coca cola because of stomac pain the doctor said that cola is so strong it can eat up anything so it actualy worked

  • A nutritionist and dietitian told me that it would be smarter to just drink a regular soda if I wanted to drink one as diet soda was actually very bad for your health. Due mostly to the chemicals and the artificial sweeteners put into it.

  • I’m a fitness and healthy diet freak, I drink 24 glasses of water a day, and I can’t remember the last time I drank an actual can of regular soda with HFCS. I think the most I’ve drank in 2020 was a few cans of diet soda, but I still try to stay far away from caffeine and sodas.
