New study on link between sleep, melatonin and prostate cancer

Video taken from the channel: Dr Feuerstein

Researchers found that men younger than 65 who slept just three to five hours a night were 55 percent more likely to develop fatal prostate cancer than those who got the recommended seven hours of shuteye nightly. And, six hours of sleep a night was linked to a 29 percent higher risk of prostate cancer death compared to seven hours. The association between sleep duration and prostate cancer (PCa) risk is still unclear. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore if sleep duration is associated with PCa in men.

A comprehensive literature search was conducted in November 2019 based on the Pubmed, Embase, and Cochrane databases. And while the link between prostate cancer and nocturnal annoyances “remains unclear”, Dr Chung suspects it might be an issue with the hormone melatonin which regulates sleep-wake cycles and. Six hours of sleep a night was linked to a 29 percent higher risk of prostate cancer death compared to the recommended seven hours.

“ the findings contribute to evidence that the body’s natural sleep/wake cycle — circadian rhythms — might play a role in prostate cancer development”. “Lack of sleep may also contribute to the disruption of genes involved in tumor suppression”. There are some data to suggest that insufficient sleep, including short sleep duration and sleep disruption, may be associated with an increased risk of cancer. We investigated the association between sleep duration and sleep disruption and risk of prostate cancer.

Over the years, there’s been growing evidence of a link between ejaculation and lower chances of prostate cancer. But the 2016 results of a major study made the strongest case yet. Men with higher levels of the sleep hormone melatonin may be less likely to develop prostate cancer, a new study suggests. The research also revealed that men who had higher levels of melatonin in.

Disruptions in the body’s “biological clock,” which controls sleep and thousands of other functions, may raise the odds of cancers of the breast, colon, ovaries and prostate. Exposure to light while working overnight shifts for several years may reduce levels of melatonin, encouraging cancer to grow. In recent years, research has challenged the link between testosterone and prostate cancer.

Some studies have contradicted it, finding a higher risk of prostate cancer among men with low.

  • This urologist failed to mentioned that Radical Prostatectomy will render young men infertile which is the most sickening fact that all young men should know before they are being manipulated by some money hungry urologists who try to sell you their golden treatment of Radical Prostatectomy which will immediately destroy many men’s quality of life with ever knowing if they have really avoided prostate cancer which takes many, many years or even decades to become lethal, if at all.
