A wonderful and easy-as-ABC raw, vegan brownie that requires no baking or processed sugar. Change up the sweet (raisins, dates, prunes, dried cherries). You can store raw brownies the same way that you’d store regular brownies. They are fine on the counter in an airtight container for a few days.

Some people swear by putting bread in the container with the brownies to help them stay fudgy. To make this raw cacao brownie recipe, simply add dates and almond butter to a food processor. Blend until you get a sticky, dough-like ball.

Add almonds and blend again as directed. Then, add in the remainder of the ingredients and blend until the vegan brownie. The Raw Brownie is no exception. In fact, we have a staple version on our café menu because customers come back time after time to gobble them up.

And then sometimes they skip dinner. You will be totally surprised at how incredibly rich and satisfying these are, with a complex flavour that remarkably, comes from only five ingredients. GANACHE FROSTING (optional) 1/4 cup almond milk. 1 cup dairy-free dark chocolate (chopped) 2 Tbsp coconut oil (melted // or sub vegan butter) 1/4 So about these unbaked brownies The recipe takes 5 minutes to prepare and can be raw, gluten free, egg free, dairy free, soy free, and vegan.

They are like a cross between a brownie and a chocolate candy bar – and secretly GOOD for you at the same time! What’s in these raw vegan brownies? These raw vegan fudge brownies have all kinds of good for you ingredients in them and require less than 20 minutes of hands-on prep work. The key ingredients that make these brownies so amazing are: Walnuts — You want to use roasted unsalted walnuts in these raw vegan brownies for the best taste and texture. The walnuts make these brownies.

My perception of dessert has changed with these raw brownies-an incredibly delicious, easy, and healthy treat. I adapted these from a recipe from Food. Raw vegan brownies are unbaked chocolate slice or brownies that can be made without an oven.

Consequently, no bake recipes are dairy-free, egg-free and often known as raw vegan desserts. While most raw recipes use dried fruits, this recipe don’t, they are vegan sugar free brownies entirely sweetened with sugar-free maple flavored syrup. Raw Brownies & Strawberries This Rawsome Vegan Life flax seeds, hemp seeds, dates, virgin coconut oil, walnuts, goji berries and 3 more One Bowl Brownies Kleinworth Co. salt, cacao, butter, confectioners sugar, pure vanilla extract and 13 more.

  • These are all lovely and healthy. But not affordable for everyone. Especially people living in countries where these ingredients are not available.

  • You were so RIGHT! Without the proper equipment it was challenging. I tried it in my Vitmaix and it was very frustrating so then I mixed the rest by hand… What food processor (brand, build) would you recommend for someone with a smaller budget?

  • I like my brownies healthy first and foremost, but after that, I like them somewhere in between cakey and fudgy. These looked great and I’ll be trying them out.

  • you are growing. I didn’t subscribe before, bc you weren’t 100% healthy, but you’re going oil free so you’re getting there. I also see you began using cacao for chocolate also much healthier choice. This is an excellent recipe. No one is born knowing everything lol we learn as we go. I am doing the same thing on my blog kungfufuel. No videos. Maybe later, but I’m not into that. Thanks Petra, diky:)

  • (What gives these brownies a rich chocolate flavor is cacao powder (or cocoa powder). I prefer cocoa powder because of its milder flavor, but if you’re going for truly raw brownies, you’ll need cacao powder) that is in your blog you like cocoa powder but in your recipe is cacao powder. I don’t understand:(

  • Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe. It came out so delicious everyone including our neighbours loved them. I added 1/2cup maple syrup instead of 1/4cup for the top layer

  • That looks sooooooooo good! I’m gonna give this a go. Seems really versatile so, should be good. Thank you so much. We are vegan and, my daughter has a lot of stomach issues. She doesn’t like, processed food, gluten or a lot of refined sugar and salts. Makes her stomach hurt. I like the change because it encourages us to eat better. I appreciate you because, A LOT of the recipes I make, I get from you. Thank you for helping me feed a, VERY hungry, sensitive stomach’d 14 year old.

  • I wasn’t able to find any cacao powder, how should I adjust the quantities to go with normal cocoa powder, double everything etc.?? Also where do you buy your cacao powder from? Thanks, love your blog by the way!

  • Thank you so much for this recipe, I have make it and is my new favorite. I have just started a raw diet and this is perfect because I was a chocolate lover:) thank you again!

  • Can you make a video on raw food necessities? As in Food Processors, Blenders, strainers. We are minimalists and I noticed you were too… It’s really hard getting my vegan boyfriend to be raw with me when I don’t have allot of raw experience lol

  • Have you actually tried using the walnut in the base Petra? I would love to know how it taste. Or if any viewers have tried it, let me know.

  • I love the way your husband describes your delectable raw brownies…I grew up in Montreal as a 4th. culture child, and had icee squares and eat more.. fantastic description!!! all the best from Abu Dhabi..

  • Ahoj Peti,
    Love your channel, well done.
Would your recomend Vitamix or a food processor?

I would use it mainly for deserts. Mixing Dates with almond butter.
    And request no2:
Can you make Vegan Millionaire’s square, please?

I have a receipt from twins from a Happy Pear.
I do it in the blender. I need to use a lot of water. And the date paste is almost like a pudding. Not good.

So I like to get Vitamix or food processor mainly for this reason.
Looking for recommendations from you. Thank you, Lenka

  • Dude I recently discovered your channel and it’s nuts (pun intended). You are SO creative! I’m amazed by the stuff you come up with. Your husband(?) is great at reviewing your creations by the way

  • Can you please make an overnight porridge that is vegan and paleo? It is so difficult to find a good recipe to a grain free overnight porridge that is vegan…

  • How to make a nut free brownies: so the first ingredient is going to be nuts I know she said you could use seeds, I just thought it was funny

  • i looove this recipe! i’ve made them with almonds before, but now i really need to try with pecans… or maybe even sunflower seeds:)

  • This looks delicious but…you basically took out all the ingredients to brownies out of the brownies…Its like a homemade chocolate bar‍♀️

  • Thank you for the wonderful work you do, you are amazing. I really appreciate how you explain the purpose of each ingredient and how they affect the final product. You mentioned that we can sub nut butter for the nuts; is it in equal amounts? And we still add the liquid sweetener to the nut butter right?

Thank you again, always look forward to seeing what you come up with:) you are one of the few solid resources i have found for vegan and gluten-free recipes. I don’t avoid gluten but am very interested in baked goods that are vegan and gluten free. Would be great if you could do a quiche in the future, with a flaky crust (without vegan butter) and filling without tofu.

  • Must be Canadian! Icy squares were the joy of my childhood, the most expensive penny candy available,,$.25 when everything else was a penny or 2 for a penny, 55 years ago when I was 7, and collecting pop bottles to buy candy.

  • You say this is “nut free” in your verbal introduction as well as in the heading, but then immediately suggest a whole bunch of different nuts we can use?
Am I missing something? I’m happy to eat nuts I just wondered if you realised this..?
Thank you, I love your videos and recipes

  • coconut oil and cocoa butter are very harmful. Useful oils only in whole nuts. So say the doctors of the United States, Neil Barnard and Michael Gregor.

Learn the contents of coconut oil and cocoa butter. Cocoa powder can be used.

  • I’m planning on starting my own channel I’m just too scared too and it’s frustrating cause that fear is stopping me from starting something amazing and i know it

  • wooooottt holy snrg most svper fantastic and vltra deliciovzzz raw treats in all galasieszz i love to eat all the versions too

  • I like this recipe, i was going to make watching another video but this one got that extra touch which is chocolate gnash so now i will follow this recipe.

  • Mine never came together so I packed it in a pan using a spoon. It’s definitely tasty and healthy, but takes longer than you’d think to make it. Also, the chocolate ganache is too oily! I won’t add that next time that I make this.

  • @Living Healthy With Chocolate: I’m def going to try this. Was looking for a yummylicious & an easy recipe like this. Thank youuuu

  • I must have made your brownies a zillion times and my family love it every time….they are so easy to make and delicious. It’s chewy and fudgy…. thank you so much

  • welp..way too much salt. I wasted all those expensive ingredients lol. The video says 1 tsp but don’t put that much, frankly don’t put any salt. time to throw it away and face my moms wrath

  • Just made them and omg can’t stop eating, they are on a whole other level of flavour and it was so quick and easy! Thank you so much for the recipe!

  • You can actually use iranian dates, they are also gooey, and cheaper. ( I love med joules dates, but I can’t always get my hands on them)

  • Hey Ella! Thanks for all that you are sharing. I have always been a healthy eater, but I’ve been incorporating even more plant based things into my diet, and I just feel amazing!! A quick question on this recipe…Do you think I could use a vitamix to make these instead of a food processor?!

  • I would love to try this recipe but I can’t eat dates because of a food intolerance, can I use any other dry fruit? e.g. Dry plums or dry apricots?

  • I have already made these brownies I think 4 times!! And I’ve told a ton of friends and family about them & they are all skeptical until they try them & LOVE them!!! these seriously are like ridiculously good! I cannot believe how healthy they are too!

  • Hi, actually I wanted to ask that is it ok if I keep the brownie in the refrigerator the whole night.
Because I want to keep it as a surprise for my mum’s birthday.

  • Even though this is an old video, I watched it today and tried this recipe! I am that person that usually messes up recipes, but this one was simple and the brownies came out so well! I even replaced the walnuts with almonds because that was all I had and it still worked, so almonds work too if you don’t have walnuts.

  • Looks more like a fudge than a brownie. But this is cool! I will definately make this in the future. I’m probably gonna omit the cashews since I’m allergic.

  • Omg thankyou for the recepie I just made it took less than 5minutes and turned out so great I am not vegan. I made it just now and thought to thankyou

  • Recently, I also got hooked on vegan recipes, the other day I saw on the Internet “Roast for vegans”, was surprised, went to see, it turned out to be from new potatoes with lemon zest. I tried to cook it, it was just a bomb). Who is interested in the recipe, then took it here https://triptok.ru/veganskie-recepty/zharkoe-iz-molodogo-kartofelya-s-limonnoj-cedroj.html

  • I bought your e-book ages ago, never had a failure from it, bless you
Even though I use ounces, I do have cups though as well, it just doesn’t come naturally!
Ignore the dislikes, there are sad people everywhere

  • Hey ella i tried this and it tastes amazing thank you for the recipe but it turned out really crumbly! It didnt come together as a giant ball, i scooped bits out into a tray and pressing it flat down was difficult cos it would rather stick to my fingers/metal spoon than to each other. What would you recommend i do? More dates or…?

  • I love this and it looks soooo good , I’m going to live vicariously through you though because I don’t have money for the ingredients ❤️

  • I absolutely love your videos! I am trying to start a healthier lifestyle/diet but I have such a sweet tooth I can’t believe youve been able to discover recipes for the foods Ive always loved and thought I would have to give up!! THANK YOU<3 also you have amazing hair

  • I just saw, that your amazing recipe I have tried before, was copied and claimed by another YouTuber called nutrition refined! I saw her video she published a few days ago and was really confused since she showed exactly the same steps you did but did not credit you at all… I don’t know, whether you know about it, just wanted to make sure you are aware of the video published a few days ago

And obviously, I will make sure you are credited if that’s what you want. Okay. That’s it from me. Thanks again, all of you wonderful people!

  • Yumm!! I loved your recipe. Hopefully I’ll make this someday! Wish me luck. Also this is my new channel. All are welcome to subscribe to my channel, I’ll not mind 😉

  • Hi there, so just made it and found that the mixture is too thick. I had to put some milk in, which made it quite gooey. Well I guess that’s a good thing. However, me personally, I don’t like the strong taste of coconut oil, so butter would work perfectly for me. My little boys like it so much, that they would eate it all if they could. Thank you for sharing it.

  • Hey, I have a question. How do you get 18 brownies and I only get 8? Made this recipe 3 times. Always got 8. I am using the exact measurments from your blog. How??? Also, the cashew mix is always thicker than yours and it’s always harder to mix everything. I don’t know why or how. Someone help.

  • Será que funciona também com castanhas do Pará? Tenho alergia à castanha de caju. (Vai em pt mesmo, já que vc tbm é brasileira:) )

  • Jesus Christ is coming for His perfect, sinless church Are you a part of it? Are you ready?

Hi everyone, I hope you’re doing well. If you’re reading this and you’re alive and breathing then this message is for you: God loves you so, so much, you can not fathom His love for you! It doesn’t matter what’s you’re gender, your luck so far in life, or what you have done in your past, God came in the flesh in a man named Jesus Christ and gave His life to take the punishment that should have been yours. God is waiting on all of us to repent so He can have mercy on us, and so He can reveal Himself to us (Luke 11:1-13, and Matthew 11:27-30). God’s love for you is the strongest force in existence. Stronger than gravity, and stronger than whatever you’re going through right now. If you’re already a believer, then never forget what you just read! And make sure your relationship with the Heavenly Father is active, real, honest, alive and well. Not lazy like most of us Christians are with God. People, you should NOT be talking to God “weekly” or “every now and then.” God is looking for a holy people, who know Him, who hear His voice, who live for Him, who love Him, obey His commandments, and who overcome all sin, and ONLY people who do these things will be saved (John 14:21-23, Matthew 7:21-23). If you’re still in sin, repent! Any and all sin will drag you straight to hell (Luke 13:1-9). If you’re a nonbeliever, humble yourself before God and go and see for yourself if what I’m saying is true or not, in the Bible and in prayer. God never rejects anyone who comes to Him (John 6:37). I didn’t come to argue, I was sent to change. Make a change, Christians! You aren’t meant to hang around and live for yourself like everyone else! Repent! Jesus is coming soon, and the Great Tribulation is about to start! God bless you all!!

  • Hi! My name is Willow I just subscribed. I’m on a pescatarian lifestyle and losing weight. I’ve had cancer in the past last year so I’m eating really clean. This recipe really works for me I know I can make it you made it look easy, so I’m going to give it a try thank you very much I really appreciate it XX Willow

  • The only thing I don’t like about this is that I don’t have them sitting in front of me right now.:D Not sure the batter would even make it into the pan to chill, but I’ll give it a whirl! YUM.

  • Who has a food processor that can blend cashews but no oven?

I am a student without an oven so I look up these recipes, but they are so hard to make when you dont have a high-end food processor and almond flour is like 6€ at the grocery store.

  • I don’t understand why you would make ganache that way. All you need is 85% chocolate and heavy cream, maybe a touch of salt and vanilla.

  • I have a tip:
If after you process everything they are still very rough and not dough like, you can add a tablespoon of milk, if it is still firm and not like a dough, add another one, I don’t recommend adding more than two tablespoons

  • Had to be quiet, I couldn’t mix/bled the dough

It went quite well, not as smooth as hers but only using my hands it came out very yummy (but whit the ganache it would be even better)

  • Definitely going to make these. I’ll use date syrup instead cuz I’m nuts about dates. If you line the pan with parchment you can take the whole slab out and it’s easier to cut, unless like me you just want to devour the whole thing. Then it’s moot.

  • I’ll wait to make this recipe till diwali rolls around. There’s just too many nuts and dates in the house and nobody knows what to do with them then to pass on to relatives.

  • Hi Ella, I love your videos!!!
I’m wondering what is the power on your food processor, cause it seems so easy for you to blend the dates, and I always struggle:-p???

  • I tried these and the texture was super weird like piecy so I couldn’t really get nice square and they were so rich, glad other people have enjoyed them though!

  • These look delicious and I can’t wait to try them! I have a question if you are using cocoa powder instead of cacao powder, how much will you need to use?

  • These “will give you energy because of protein from the nuts”? This is like school chemistry level. Proteins are not source of energy, and highest content in nuts is fat. I mean, its fine with me to go on camera to blend 2 ingredients and call it a recipe, but this knowledge gap, i mean, seriously.

  • Let me tell you. I just made these, and these are probably the best brownies I ever ate!
I don’t have a foodprocessor so had to chop all the nuts by hand until they were a rough flour, and the dates I only had one of those handblenders to blend with. So had to mix everything by hand. it it was such a mess but soooo worth it!!
I can’t wait to surprise my cousin at her birthday party with them later tonight <3

  • If I can’t find medjool dates, will I be able to soak the ones I have in water? Will it still work for this recipe? And I love this idea, it’s so creative and looks delicious ❤

  • I made it and it was yum
I was able to fulfill my craving for sweet in a more healthier and fit way!
Also its just soo fast…you.just need to spare 2 min of your time ❤

  • Delicious Ella. I have a favorite raw brownie that is very similar. I love your sight, I just found you. Thank you for this. Your approach to food is beautiful and inspiring.

  • We saw u in the you magazine and we tried coconut Thai curry with chick peas and it was amazing:)!!! We are gonna follow you and buy your book thanks!

  • I’ve made these SO many times now..so quick and easy to make. Love that you’re making videos again hope you’ll be uploading regularly:)

  • Please advise.  If all these ingredients don’t need to be refrigerated before grinding, why refrigerated after grinding.  Not
sure why they could not be stored at room temperature.

  • How is it that all of the keto low carb recipes are almost identical? Everyone using SF maple syrup and RAW cashews in their brownies?? One person puts out a good recipe and then a hundred pages copy it to use for content?

  • Do people think that just because they bake they are competent to give nutrient-relate advice? Sugar substitutes does very little/nothing for sugar craving.  The craving is not created by sweetness of sugar but from the way it is metabolized. So sugar addiction (or “craving” as it is called here) can usually not be tackled by switching to other types of sugar as they metabolically have a different effect on the body (i.e. brain).

  • Thank you so much for this recipe, I have make it and is my new favorite. I have just started a raw diet and this is perfect because I was a chocolate lover:) thank you again! Even better than the original one!

  • I LOVE chocolate and LOVE any type of cake or bun or brownie. unfortunately I developed an allergic reaction to egg about 10 years ago so I’ve not actually eaten any cake ect. in the last two years I’ve found an egg substitute so it’s helped. but after following you and wanting to add more to my diet, I seriously want to try these! it means no more worrying about my allergy put putting goodness in my body!

  • I made these they are yum, I really don’t miss chocolate now I have these on hand. Instead of putting the mix in a dish to freeze, I rolled it into balls and dusted them in cocoa powder so they look like choc truffles. Gorge!

  • Is there any reason why you couldn’t make these using the Vitamix? My nutri bullet crushes nuts pretty good and I’m wondering if I could make these using it.

  • I tried this recipe yesterday and just woooow its soo delicious thanks Ella.
Work time under 10min. And so easy to do.:)
    Greece from Germany:D

  • I just made this and I love it. It won’t last more than 2 hours that’s for sure but I will definitely make this again soon.
The only thing I didn’t like is that it was pretty sticky, I did add some splashes of almond milk cause it didn’t look like yours did but I think it still would be pretty sticky if I didn’t add milk. Maybe I’ll try less dates the next time

  • Nice recipie! Although I’ve made similar raw desserts before and usually normal dates as long as their not the ones ready to eat style, usually work fine, after being soaked for half hour. Medjool dates are expensive and not everyone can afford them

  • are you kidding me kate? i just put my sweet potato brownies in the oven and now i see this…smh… I SHOULD’VE WENT RAW WITH THEM. it’s ok. i didn’t have dates anyway. hahaha

  • Tobie! Interesting. Typically I’m not the biggest fan of vegan tradeoffs. However I’d give this a go for the frosting alone. Thanks for another great video. Blessings ChefMike

  • I made it and it was soooo good though I doubled the cocoa powder by mistake‍♀️but I highly recommend you guys to give it a try!

  • These are so delicious! I just made them and can’t believe how easy it was. I am not raw or vegan, but i am gluten free and i have missed brownies like no other. So I appreciate this recipe beyond measure. Thank you for sharing!

  • I just (accidentally) made these with mint extract instead of vanilla extract… I love mint chocolate but I would not recommend

  • I’m assuming they need to be kept refrigerated? (if there is anything left!) Otherwise, if making ahead, how long can/should they be left out to achieve room temperature, or will that just make them melt? I suppose the short question is: what is the best way to make ahead, and serve later?

  • I made these thinking you were full of it. I was so wrong! They are amazing, and I can’t turn my back because my family keeps eating all of them!

  • Yes, I can eat the whole batch because these fudgy little pieces of heaven are that good! But with alot of restraint, should the brownie bites be kept in the fridge?

  • Just made these and they taste amazing!! Couldnt stop myself from eating the batter as I was putting it into the pan:D great recipe!!

  • I make this recipe allll the time for vegan and non-vegan friends, and they love it!! Also, I’ve been melting dark chocolate with pb and drizzle it over top and its life changing

  • Holy moley! I just made these (but I replaced the 1 cup of cacao with.5 cup of coco powder because that’s all I had on hand) and they are the most decadent brownies I’ve ever had in my life I was literally scooping the food processor clean with a spatula

Thank you for this great recipe!

I look forward to more recipes. Keep doing you. Much love from southern Texas

  • Looks yum, thanks for sharing technique but very pricey ingredients & high in calories would rather have a small decent piece of chocolatecan you show some simple home made sweets that are low in calories & use simple & cheap ingredients?

  • Just what needed to make for a pre diabetic loved one. Let’s hope I can get her hooked on keto sweets since she’s got such a sweet tooth.

  • If I don’t have a food processer like yours what can I use to combined the recipe together as an alternative to make my life easier?

  • WOW! Just made these and had a little nibble before I put them in the freezer amazing! I can see why you tend to eat half the mix straight out of the processor. I don’t really like nuts usually, but pecans are so sweet that the nutty quality balances out. I swapped out around 10% of the pecans for sunflower seeds, just to reduce the nut quantity, but I think I probably needn’t have done that. Also, for anyone worrying about the strength of their food processor I made these in a pretty weak 20 year old kenwood processor and it handled the nuts and dates just fine.

  • i just made these and these are amazing:O they actually taste and have a texture to that of a brownie <3333 this will make it so much easier for me to stay raw thank you for this wonderful recipe ^.^

  • Hello, I love your recipes, but… i am a little concerned about the amount of coconut oil, what is your take on the healthiness of it as its a saturated fat?

  • What I love about your recipes is that you tend to use few ingredients and all your ingredients are what we consider staples in the raw vegan lifestyle. This makes your recipes very affordable, accessible, and practical. The fact that your recipes are delicious as well just sets your channel up as a favorite of mine within the entire raw vegan community. You appeal to both seasoned raw vegans who have these items in their pantry already and prefer eating more simply at this point n their journeys and to people just getting started who don’t want to be discouraged with all the gourmet products they need to buy in order to make raw vegan foods edible. I genuinely think you have talent and I’ll be supporting your e-books with purchases, too. Best wishes to you and your partner! A New Subscriber

  • I made cooked vegan brownies with gluten free oat flour, cacao powder, Stevia sugar blend, vegan vanilla almond milk yogurt (in place of oil, works just as well), almond milk, boiling water, baking soda and baking powder, and apple cider vinegar. Tastes just like regular brownies:) it’s also really low fat. My husband also has type 1 diabetes so we can’t really cook with dates or a lot of sugar haha. Oat flour also has a lot of fiber and is better than regular gluten free flour since I have an intolerance.

  • I really wanna try this recipe and I’m not raw but I really really dislike dates. Does anyone know if the brownies have a strong date flavor and if they do a sub I could use?

  • I’ve been dying to make this recipe for SO long, today I decided to do it! However, the motor on my food processor decided to burn out last night so I tried making this in my vitamix-takes a bit of coaxing but turns out like fudge! AMAZING! Thanks for the recipe, Kate!

  • I tried this out mine were a little too crumbly so I think I will cut down the cocoa next time or add a little bit of water, they were also very chewy (probably the dates) and yummy but very rich couldnt have more than a piece

  • Hey therelooked like in the close-up there’s lots of little carob chocolate chips in the brownies. Someone is cheating on this recipe?

  • I made it for my mom’s birthday. It was so amazing. It’s super healthy. It’s little expensive because nuts in my country are really expensive. But it’s nice to have something like this once in awhile. Thank you for the recipe ❤

  • I was FINALLY able to make this recipe! I cannot believe I just ate healthy, raw brownies. Thank you so much for making this video, this is an amazing recipe!!
