The study, from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, found that close to 20 percent of all women aged 40 to 59 said they. Menopausal women are more likely to suffer insomnia and sleep less. A report that analyzed data from the 2015 National Health Interview Survey found that, of the women surveyed, “perimenopausal (56.0%) were more likely than postmenopausal (40.5%) and premenopausal (32.5%) to sleep less than 7 hours, on average, in a 24-hour period.

Menopause tends to be a significant cause of broken sleep in middle-aged women since hormonal changes can lead to hot flashes, night sweats, increased heart rate, stress and anxiety. Medical: Sleep apnea should be evaluated, especially if you snore at night and/or are overweight and awaken unrefreshed in the morning. I’m part of an epidemic of middle-aged, menopausal women who simply cannot sleep at night.

While it’s believed that one in three of us struggle with sleep problems, women. One in four women has some insomnia symptoms, such as trouble falling asleep, trouble staying asleep, or both. 1 About one in seven adults has chronic (long-term) insomnia. 2 Chronic insomnia can affect your ability to do daily tasks.
