Replacing the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, was a centerpiece of the GOP’s 2016 election platform. To highlight the issue, the medical groups plan a series of events to urge the Senate to put patients first and reject the AHCA. Senate Republicans are currently working on a health-care reform bill of their own. Leading Medical Groups Mobilize Against Obamacare Repeal. GOP-sponsored legislation would impose added costs and risks on millions of Americans, groups contend.

American Health Care Association (AHCA): Long term care providers across the country are disappointed that cuts to Medicaid are included in the Obamacare repeal and replace bill released yesterday. The current Medicaid system underfunds nursing center care by $22.46 per day, resulting in a shortfall of nearly $7 billion annually.

The American Hospital Association is opposing the GOP’s last-ditch ObamaCare repeal bill, saying the legislation puts the health coverage of 10 million people at risk. The following is a list of efforts to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (commonly called the “Affordable Care Act (ACA)” or “Obamacare”), which had been enacted by the 111th United States Congress on March 23, 2010. Obamacare repeal has been attempted many times during the presidencies of both Barack Obama and Donald Trump. Between 2011 and 2014, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted to repeal or change the law more than 50 times. After the 2016 election, Republicans felt emboldened by their control of the presidency and both houses of Congres.

“ObamaCare is a broken mess,” the president tweeted in the fall of 2017, after repeal in Congress had failed. “Piece by piece, we will now begin the process of giving America the great HealthCare.

  • I think mccain knew obama would be the one who became president, but he was ok with that because he knows a fellow hero when he sees one.

  • It’s sad that people think free healthcare is such a good thing. While yes, it is in theory, it’s not in reality. Look at Canada for a good example, look into what you are wishing for.

  • If you are not sure who you want to vote for when you get to the polls, consider the fact that the current President thinks John McCain was and is a loser. I was raised by democrats. But even my dad who is a liberal, gave me a book about John McCain when I was 16. He told me “son I agree with very little that this man believes, but I honor every bit of what he stands for. Read this book and we can talk about why and how you can admire a man, who you so vehemently disagree with politically.” That lesson seems more valuable than ever today.

  • Just like sleepy Joe, crooked Hillary, and the likes, McCain didn’t do anything or accomplish anything for America even though having been a Senator for a million years. McCain died and was buried with him his jealousy of Trump’s presidency position that McCain did not get. So the only thing McCain can get even with Trump is to thumbs down the Obamacare repeal. But it doesn’t matter, Trump still wins, and McCain is gone.

  • It makes sense that John McCain, who was a longtime friend of late Sen Kennedy, would do the exact same action, as they fight cancerensure Americans can have health coverage.

  • The best moment of the Trump presidency so far. Actually, I take that last part back. Nothing from now until the end of his presidency can top this. Finally, it fells like us Democrats scored a major victory! Not just for us, but for all 16,000,000 of those people who would have been kicked off their insurance. The Republican plan failed, and I’m sorry if I’m sounding selfish, but I’ve been waiting for something like this ever since we lost the Georgia election last month, so just let me have my moment. Also, McConnell, let me tell you that you are the bane of my Kentucky roots.

  • McCain’s thumbs down saved so many lives. That was one of the most historical moment. John does not care if you are Dems or Republicans. He sticks with his principles, not his party. He is not like Mitch McConnell tracing Trump’s tail all the time. I miss McCain, true American hero.

  • He was a POW in a Vietnamese war camp. This was a walk in the park for him. Rest easy, McCain. I wish you were born ten years later so you could’ve been the nominee in 2016. Fuck Trump.

  • “Hey guys, remember that time that clown you call a boss insulted me and Obama, harassing him and spreading all these conspiracy theories while turning away from all the real shit the circus you call the administration has been doing?”

    “Because I remember”

  • Leftists are the “Pigs” in George Orwell’s “Animal Farm”. 1st they ignite a revolution& say “4 legs are better than 2” When the “Humans” are ousted they said “2 legs are better than 4” since the Piggies learned to stand on 2 feet while telling their lies to the gullible

  • Millions of Americans who are protected by the pre existing clause, and those who were insured that weren’t before say thank you John McCain.

  • R.I.C.O. Act is not a Mexican you can deport. R.I.C.O Is coming for you Donald Trump and your entire crime syndicate “The Trump Administration☠️” in 2021.

  • One of the most Patriotic Acts in History,he really showed us all what Country above politics looks like! R.I.P. Great American Hero,John McCain!

  • All you people think it’s great law.The government fines you if you don’t have health care insurance. Do you really want the government in your healthcare. Everything a government runs is ruined. Here’s a few examples Post office, public schools,Nasa,FBI,The UN when does it stop.

  • Big John did what was best for the most people. He has left behind a solid legacy of public service, in and out of uniform. Donald Trump found out the hard way that not everybody works for him. Rest in peace, Senator. May the rest of us pick up where you left off.

  • John McClain disappointed the middle class and now all the ppl will control their companies like they they want to untill it’s gone.Trump will win the election again and the CEO will wait untill it is gone.

  • He is my hero. I held great respect and admire his courage to do the right thing. Because of his compassion and integrity, many lives were saves.

  • Who is this McCain? He was a former prisoner of war. This McCain’s only heroic act was getting caught by the VietCongs. It doesn’t sound like a big heroic deed to me. Anyone can be taken prisoner when surrendering. You don’t have to be brave. It’s enough to raise your hands and fill your pant.

  • Last true Republican. People forget what Republican and Democrats truly stand for. Now a days all these reps and dems are not even Republicans or Democrats but some retarded extremists

  • What a mad lad. Even though I disagreed with his outlook on things, he was still a good person with integrity, and he probably would’ve been also been a good president had he won in ’08 (and persumably 2012 too). Bless the man’s soul, we need more congresspeople like him.

  • I am glad McCain agreed with democrats this one time and went out like a boss BEFORE Black Lives Matter made me lose all respect for democrats.

  • McCain was one of the last true Republicans. A man to be respected and admired.

Now unfortunately the Republican party has evolved into a personality cult of Donald Trump! McCain would be ashamed to see what his party has become!

  • Thankful for the awesome senators who voted to not repeal Obamacare!Saving millions of Americans from an uncertain medical future!Trump had the nerve to do nuclear option too.Its obvious Trump knows the clock is ticking before agencies close in and Trump desperately tries to do his donors his promised favors. Who are these donors and why are they traitors wanting to hurt Americans?

  • Why not send insurance bill with higher cost to Nancy Pelosi and demand she pay it since
she had to pass it before she knew what was in it at our expense? And why not demand
congress creatures be forced to eat from the same pot they cook up for us?

  • You always can tell when the clouds are in the house and they are ready to play games, simple when people go to the hospital and don’t have insurance who pays for, figure that out and you will have your answer,we post to be intelligent ever since the beginning of time nobody had a king or president that pleased everybody, unselfishness says what is best for the whole, we the people, you are we the people

  • If the ACA was left alone in its original format and not hacked in the reconciliation process, and not defunded (under trump) It would pave the way for universal healthcare, we are the only democratically free country that does not have universal healthcare.

  • The way institutions like the UK National Health Service (NHS) is viewed even by people who lean Democratic is like it’s a form of Socialism, and some ways it is. However, most people in the UK don’t see it as a bad thing, they view it as people having the freedom to have health procedures carried out without the risk of going into financial distress as a result. Putting it simply, here in the UK, they view health care as a right, not something for others to make a profit from

  • Mitch McConnell has chosen to be President Trump’s waterboy. I say that we should throw them both down the drain in November. Let’s save this nation and the souls of both parties.

  • Thanks to trump there are more people in this country without health insurance now than there have been since 2010, Texas for example has 5 million people without health insurance.

  • WHY IS HE ALLOWED TO DECIDE FOR THE REST OF US?????????????????????? IT IS HIS FAULT PEOPLE ARE DYING WITH NO CARE! EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT SIGNED THIS BILL NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT UP ON CHARGES BY THE 18 MILLION PEOPLE THIS EFFECTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY IS HE STILL THERE IN OUR CONGRESS? HE IS A TRAITOR TO THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE AND THE 99%

  • BERNIE SANDERS VOTED AGAINST THIS!!!!!!!!! This McConnell needs to be voted OUT!! This is why SO MANY RETIRED HAD TO GO BACK TO WORK. SOME FLIPPING BURGERS AT BURGER KING AND MCDONALDS!!!

  • Obamacare was a scam from creation just like the victory tax. You were never required and all IrS penalties are basically theft. Just like you paying income tax but your not liable. Learn the truth listen to Pete hendrickson videos

  • If McConnell is re-elected in 2020, then I have no faith in the people of Kentucky to understand their best interests. McConnell isn’t the only person who can pass pro-hemp legislation. He’s definitely overdue to be replaced.

  • Let’s face it, McConnell had a shameful bill and tried to shove it through in the middle of the night, the chickenshits tried to take away healthcare for 16 million people. What they proposed would force the 16 million and more to forego healthcare altogether and flood the emergency rooms, further driving financially besieged hospitals, many who are going bankrupt, out of business. How can these cretins sleep at night? THANK YOU, Senators Murkowski, Collins and McCain. At least we know 3 senators who put country over party. As to the rest, FU

  • let me name the people who are against obamacare. LAMAR ALEXANDER, R TENN SHELLY MOORE CAPITO, R-W. DEAN HELLER,R-NEV JOHN MCCAIN, R-ARIZ LISA MURKOWSKI-R-ALASKA ROB PORTMAM,-R-OHIO SUSAN COLLINS,R-MAINE. AND YOU KNOW WHY THE DIDN’T WANT A REPEAL OF OBAMA CARE THEY DON’T HAVE TO OBEY IT PERIOD. AND THEY WANT TO BE RE ELECTED. LETS MAKE SURE THEY DON’T GET RE ELECTED.

  • Question on the procedure: Now that they have 53 senators, why can’t they try it again? How does introduction of bills work…in simple terms.

  • Stop overlaying text while people are talking, it is disrespectful and confusing to the viewer. Let them talk, show text after or before.

  • Question: does this mean that if they want to try and pass another bill, they have to go through the house again? Im so confused. I hope they dont repeal it though. I need this insurance

  • Trump was along time democrat and a brief republican before he declared a run for the presidency. And he didn’t have a record nor history speaking too and supporting republican causes including risk talker method friedman dive and smaller government aka corporate governing.

  • Senator McConnell and the majority of his conference didn’t offer their own plan that would be cost effective and will designed benefiting republicans and others at the ground level. The individual mandate says you was buy relative insurance protection in the healthcare exchange which not crazy given many can buy themselvez and others policies. And or putting a portion of your earnings.

  • If there’s a state that needs Obamacare, the Medicaid Expansion, protection for pre-existing conditions, and funding for the Opioid Crisis, it’s Kentucky. But Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul don’t care about all that.

  • My doctor wants everyone to have healthcare, he said he became a doctor to help people, he said if his sole purpose was to become rich he would have become a stock broker. All doctors make a good living.

  • I understand why Trump hates Obamacare (being a POS), but why does someone like Marco Rubio hate it? As a middle class immigrant kid, why does he oppose health insurance to million of people?

  • Because of the f*ckin Obamacare I need to pay 300$ every month for health insurance and I’ll be penalized otherwise. F*ck that! I want to decide myself if I need it or not. I wish it will be repealed soon.

  • Racists especially the poor ones are so pathetic they don’t even realize the Jedi mind truck played on them by republicans. Republicans deemed the affordable care act as “Obamacare ” so that they can make these ignorant racists hate it and go along with repealing it meanwhile these same racists think the affordable care act is something totally different from Obamacare

  • Obozocare has failed all Americans! Remember the following Senate Republican who voted against the “Repeal of Obamacare” 1) Lamar Alexander Tenn, 2) Shelley Moore Capito WV, 3) Susan Collins Maine, 4) Dean Heller Nevada, 5) John McCain Az, 6) Lisa Murkowski Alaska and 7) Rob Portman Ohio. Had it not been for these US Senators, we would all be able to get our own Health Insurance without Govment Interference! To the main point.
Since these “7” Republican Senators have decided to keep obamacare, then, lets give them the opportunity to seek employment in another occupation! Recall them and vote in people who will represent US!

  • What a brave man, trump even got on phone with him before his vote, god knows if trump threatened john. Im glad I voted for him.

  • Wah,wah, wah Republicans could care less about “average Americans” they care about big donor hospitals, drug co’s and the rich. If this bill was so good your own people should have voted for it but they didn’t.

  • How are people so loyal to trump? I don’t see a wall, Obamacare is still here, ISIS is still cutting heads off, and Hillary is still not in prison

  • Sure obamacare is great for those with major medical issues with even bigger medical debt; but its just a money drainer for the rest of us that are relatively healthy. Obamacare aside, I wont even reach my deductible limit on most insurances out there to actually get to use the insurance outside of the occasional prescription medicine. I’m literally just throwing away money for a what-if scenario. Why do I have to throw away a big chunk of my income for this?

  • You cant have, for profit insurance companies deciding who lives and dies.
Obamacare is crap because its too far away from the international norms
Trumpcare wants to be even further away from universal healthcare, so its even more crap then obamacare.

  • Most people who got health care after the affordable care act are completely healthy young people who are literally forced to buy it or pay a bigger fine. Give me a break, Fake News, with your “biggest drop” since medicare/medicaid

  • I’m not sure if it’s really being appreciated just how comprehensively the Republicans were just fucked over.

See, the Republicans have been trying to pass these godawful healthcare bills through a process called budget reconciliation, which, among other things, protects the bill from being filibustered in the Senate and only requires a simple majority of 50 votes (rather than 60, which the Republicans don’t have).

The thing is, the Senate can only consider one budget reconciliation bill per topic per year. Of course, if the bill dies in committee and never comes to an official vote, it doesn’t countwhich is why they’ve been able to keep hammering away at the issue.

This bill, though, was allowed to come to the Senate floor, because the Republicans thought they’d secured the votes. Collins, Murkowski and the Democrats would vote no, everyone else would vote yes, and Pence would break the tie. And then McCain completely fucked them. And it was almost certainly a calculated move; he voted to allow the bill to come to the floor. Had McCain allowed it to die in committee, McConnell could have come back with yet another repeal bill; but he let it come to a vote, and now they can’t consider another budget reconciliation bill for the rest of the fiscal year. The Senate needs 60 votes to pass any kind of healthcare reform now.

So now they’re caught between a rock and a hard place. Either they concede defeat on the issue and try again later (causing a big, unpopular stink that could damage elections if they try it before the midterms, or risking losing the slim majority they already have if they wait) or they actually sit down with the democrats like adults and write a halfway decent healthcare bill.

    This is amazing.

  • I don’t know what happened to the Republican Party but they have become like the infamous Baa’th party of Saddam hussein headed by trump

  • It’s been nearly five months since McCain passed away, and even though I didn’t know much about him rather than he was a major party’s nominee for President, I learned more and more about his life and came to realize that McCain was the embodiment of a true American hero. The 49 Republicans who voted that night to rip the healthcare of millions of Americans out of their hands will be damned in their graves for showing the nation a horrid example of putting party over country. John McCain may have saved the lives of millions of low-income Americans. He hated Obamacare, and sought to repeal it in the past, but unlike the other spineless GOP shitheads in the Senate, McCain saw what this bill would do to people. People with pre-existing conditions would face tremendously higher fees for coverage. Medicaid would get much less federal funding, funding that has helped scores of Americans stay healthy. The bill would create a terrible myriad of problems for the poor, disabled and elderly. So he did the right thing when he stepped onto the Senate floor and gave the thumbs down. R.I.P. John, God Bless You Cindy and family

  • Thank you to Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Senator Susan Collins of Maine and a BIG thanks to Senator John McCain of Arizona for not only representing the people of your states but for saving healthcare for MILLIONS of Americans…AND standing up to the GOP at one of its most immoral moments as well as to the madman in the white house.

  • Obama care is a CASH COW for certain Congress members until another CASH COW meets congress members ways they will never get a good health plan for Americans..The Congress members that take kickbacks an donations from health insurance an medical an Pharma corporations do not give a Damn about Americans while Obama care gives free health health care to foreigners that is payed for with American Tax dollars While Americans go without an can lose their homes or go to jail if they can not pay the penalties..This is all smoke an mirrors to make you think they are fighting for you…TERM LIMITS NOW…

  • Obamacare was a scam from creation just like the victory tax. You were never required and all IrS penalties are basically theft. Just like you paying income tax but your not liable. Learn the truth listen to Pete hendrickson videos

  • Really this is how our Senate acts! Seems to me most of the time they stand around or most of them are not even there! These are people we are paying there salaries! Wake up! These people have access to the best health care. Your average American citizen does not! We are letting these people control what we can and can not do it have! That is not what our constitution was written for! Something needs to change! We let them now control our health care! Control what happens between a doctor and patient. The CDC and the DEA is out of control. The government is block pain medication thinking that will solve the heroin crisis! Really! This just shows the government does not know what to do about it! The government should get out of controlling our lives! And controlling our health care!

  • The republican plan was to bring so much disorder to the health care, that it would as Trump put it, “implodes.” Doing so, the US gov would have no choice but to bring in another plan that would probably milk the Americans even more.

  • YOU PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW WHAT WORKS FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY INSTEAD OF THE INSURANCE COMPANY LOBBYIST SPONSORS THAT FUNNEL MONEY FOR THE CONGRESS TO CREATE THE DIVERSION TO NOT LIKE THE “NEW HEALTH CARE BILL” THIS WOULD STILL ALLOW THE INSURANCE COMPANIES TO KEEP ON MAKING TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND AT THE SAME TIME. DENING THE AMERICAN PUBLIC TO AFFORD MEDICAL TREATMENT BY LOWERING COSTS IS GREAT FOR ALL. THE PEOPLE WHO ARE VOTING AGAINST THIS MEASURE ARE BAD, BAD, POLITICIANS. THEY HAVE THE INTELLIGENCE, BUT THEY LACK INTEGRITY TO SUPPORT THE PRESIDENT CAUSE WITH ALL NEGATIVE CRITICISM BECAUSE THEIR ALL SCARED THEY WILL LOSE SUPPORT FROM THE HUSH MONEY CONSTITUENTS FOR ALL THE WRONG SELFISH REASONS. THE RECKONING IS COMING TO BALANCE OUT THE SCALES OF JUSTICE AND WILL BE LIKE THE WIND. IT HAS JUST STARTED WITH Mc CAIN SICKNESS AND YOU WOULD THINK THAT ALL THE MONEY HE HAS WOULD JIGGLE HIS CONSCIENCE AND YOU WOULD THINK THAT A REPUBLICAN AND DEMOCRATS WOULD BE IN FAVOR OF THE PRESIDENTS MOTION, BUT HAS CHOSE THE LATER. McCAIN IS NOT A HEALTHY MAN AND APPARENTLY HE HAS HATE IN HIS HEART AS A RESULT OF BEING IN A WAR WE WERE NEVER GOING TO WIN AND WAS CAPTURE AS A BARGAINING CHIP AND IS WAITING FOR HIS DEMISE INSTEAD OF LEAVING A LEGECY OF A SENATOR’s COURAGE. I FEEL PITY FOR THIS MAN AS EVERYBODY ELSE DOES AND THINK OF HIM AS A MISTAKE, AND PEOPLE WILL KEEP THEIR DISTANT FROM HIM. HE COULD BE LABELED AS A DECEIVER, OR EVEN A TRAITOR, EVEN THOUGH HE REPUBLICAN. HAS-BEEN P.O.W. A BROKEN MAN, WHO WEAR’S TWO FACES. WHAT DOES HIS ALTERNATE THINK??????

  • I know we have this food that we’ve been feeding you since you’re starving, but I don’t think it’s sustainable for you to keep eating it. I have no idea where better food is, nor any plan to go get it. However, I’m going to stop feeding you, for now, until I find the proverbial better food and figure out how to get it for you. Enjoy! I care about you and your well-being.

  • 20-30% higher to perform the exact same surgery in the exact same hospital… someone is making TALL money off of this is and it is not the doctors!!

  • How about not letting hospitals rape us because the insurance companies are raping them. Just getting a fucking ambulance ride should not cost 500+ fucking bucks. Cause the emt driving it sure as fuck not getting the money. The price is high cause of the insurance on the ambulance

  • Such a good bill he couldn’t get it passed? Buffoons. Majority in the House, Majority in the Senate, Sitting party President. and NOTHING gets done. Your ideas are for shit. Don’t blame Dems who want nothing to do with your imploding shit show Dems have their own dysfunction. Looks like Repubs don’t even like each other. They NEED a Desperate change in leadership in Congress.

  • The right thing would have been is to let the people have a survey on Obamacare if it should stay or go or let the people decide what can make it better then repeal and replace.

  • Obamacare is a disaster and unconstitutional. CNN is fake news! They are in bed with George Soros and the liberal propaganda machine.
CNN your day of reckoning is coming. You should never have sold out the American people and now we will hold you accountable for your lies, meddling in the election, and brainwashing efforts. Make America Great Again! Down with the mainstream media!

  • It is going to be sad to watch millions of Republicans have their health insurance taken away because they cared more about the Republican party than their health

  • Its a failure regardless…. And we the people are glad this corrupt system is being trashed for an actual solution to affordable healthcare…. Just another Obama Failure.
