  • Fun fact….when I was living in Japan, I would watch this show called “Gatten”. The topic for one show was about Green Tea.  Here are the fun facts from the show:
    1.     The green tea types, Sencha, Hojicha, (whole loads of different types of green tea) etc. are all the same leaves, but the different amounts of times it is roasted. 
    2.     If you steep the dry leaves in ICE WATER, it does not release the caffeine (so, think caffeine-free) and it has something called kasekin (sp?? I really don’t know what the English word is….they called it Kah-seh-keen) which helps deter fat from being absorbed. They also noted that drinking a boat load of this tea does not stop you from getting fat….that is your diet. 
    3.     You can take the tea that you steeped in cold water, freeze it, and when you want hot tea, you can reuse the leaves….it will then release the caffeine from the leaves. 
    4.     When steeping green tea (not in boiling water……if you steep in boiling water, it makes it more bitter)…THAT is when caffeine is released and the helpful cancer fighting agents. Note: doesn’t prevent cancer, but it’s supposed to help or whatnot…I don’t know.

  • Caffeine in tea is not actually addicting, unlike coffee and unlike coffee, it lowers stress and helps sleep, at least for me, its my stressbuster. (I guess its the l-theanine) if you consume enough water with it.
