As we watch the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, and the devastation it has brought across Texas, our hearts go out to those affected. This includes the most vulnerable of us the children who will forever be changed by this disaster. We are reminded that we are a United country. Of close knit families and friends, connected towns and counties. A vast community of people spanning our great nation. It is times such as these America has always shined the brightest. With Irma bearing down upon Florida, every American’s shoulders are needed to bear the weight for those who have lost it all.. I am asking my own community of YouTube creators and their subscribers, my own subscribers, and especially the YouTube Golf community to help ease the pain for the children who bravely face the challenges of these Hurricanes. I am working with Save the Children USA to help fund-raise so they can continue to provide on the ground support for children in affected areas, now and for years to come. From Harvey to Irma, whatever small contribution we can make for those heroes who face this adversity bravely will be a drop in the bucket for the enduring support they, and the volunteers from Save the Children USA and other organizations, will need to rebuild. Their homes, their lives, our communities.. #AmericaStrong.. Speaker: Kerry A. Emanuel, Cecil & Ida Green Professor of Atmospheric Science, Co-Director of the Lorenz Center. Natural disasters are the result of the interaction of a natural phenomenon with human beings and their built environments. Globally and in the U.S., large increases in coastal populations are causing corresponding increases in hurricane damage and these are now being compounded by rising sea levels and changing storm characteristics owing to anthropogenic climate change. In this talk, I will describe projections of changing hurricane activity over the rest of this century and what such projections tell us about how the probabilities of hurricanes like Harvey and Irma have already changed and are likely to continue to do so.. TUESDAY, Sept. 12, 2017 (HealthDay News)—Children may have a more difficult time coping with the devastating hurricanes that have recently hit the United States, an expert says. “Compared to adults, children suffer more from exposure to disasters, including psychological, behavioral, and physical problems, as well as difficulties learning in school,”. When Hurricane Harvey hit, it affected more than five Texas children’s hospitals. Hurricane Irma could move toward the Florida Keys and as far north as Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, potentially putting more than 20 children’s hospitals in the path of the storm or at risk of damage from tropical force winds. The closures affect hundreds of thousands of students. especially negative impact on children.

Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Jose were no exceptions. The southern-eastern Texas coast, where Harvey stuck, is a major oil hub filled with ports, terminals and refineries. Particularly, Houston, Texas city and Baytown regions have eleven refineries that together manage 2.7 million barrels of oil a day, or about 14% of the nation’s refining capacity. It’s not every six hours it’s every six years Harvey is going to come to us again in 2023 this time before the solar eclipse takes place across the U.S. on April 8,2024th the lunar eclipse is going happen this year on January 31,2018
I have lots of family, both immediate and extended, in Texas. One of my mom’s cousins lives in the Houston area but told us relatively early on that they were safe (I don’t know if they evacuated before Harvey made landfall.) My uncle is a Lutheran minister in San Antonio (which is further inland and thus was spared most of the damage), and his church is raising money for relief efforts down there-I gave $25 recently toward it. Some of my other immediate family also donated to the Red Cross.
I also have extended family in Florida, although I don’t know how many of them were in the path of Hurricane Irma. I haven’t donated to anything for that yet, but will think about it.

Your money would go to better use with a charity like the Salvation Army. The Red Cross pockets most of the money from donations and only gives 8% of the revenue to actual relief, not to mention how they did in Haiti.
