TUESDAY, March 7, 2017 (HealthDay News) More Americans are overweight or obese, but many have given up on trying to lose those excess pounds, a new study shows. One in every three people in the United States is now obese, compared with one in five 20 years ago, researchers report. Americans have lost hope in getting a summer body this year apparently because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nutrisystem surveyed 2,000 and found 76% have gained up to 16 pounds during the quarantine. Almost half of Americans reported trying to lose weight between 2013 and 2016, according to a National Center for Health Statistics report. “About six months after I started losing weight, I signed up for a walking challenge. I had about eight weeks to work up to walking a 5K, and if I did the walk, I received a charm.

It was teeny but I have to tell you — it meant something. Despite the fact that most Americans are overweight or obese, obesity is often seen as unattractive or a sign of laziness or poor character, which drives much of the motivation to lose weight. Check out two more reasons why people give up on losing weight and how to over come them on POPSUGAR Fitness. This content is created and maintained by a third party, and imported onto this page. Wanting to lose weight is often cited as a main motivation to cut out dairy, and Sass acknowledges that doing so may help you shed pounds. “I have had clients reduce body fat after giving up dairy.

Within two weeks, 25% of Americans will give up on their weight loss goals. Fad diets are followed because they seem to work and work fast. The.

  • I don’t personally see the problem with being overweight, now that is just my opinion which doesn’t really matter, either way i t is the way people choose to live their daily lives even though there is a higher risk of diseases or respiratory failure like, diabetes, stroke, possible organ failure, ect.

So if that is how people choose to live their lives even though it would lead to the possibilities I’ve said before.

  • It’s pretty obvious why you get so much hate when talking about body positivity and weight loss: you are a very attractive and slim woman. Who wouldn’t be jealous on you? And you being also conservative probably gives you tons of men to choose from.

  • My weight destroyed my bones. I threw my dinner in the bin this morning because I gained a quarter pound. I am working rather than eating. I have a slow metabolism after binge eating and eating the wrong food for me. It wasn’t worth it. My bones are damaged and weight could break them. I am watching gross food videos so I wont even be tempted by dinner. You need to track your weight and body fat. I am now living in baggy dresses and used to look like a vogue supermodel. I am getting that body back whatever it takes! I am aware I should not train when fasting or severely restricting. This is for over doing it yesterday.

  • I got disappointed in myself today that I ate my feelings out and completely forgot about my weight lose goals. I needed this. Thank God youtube’s recommendation algorithm didn’t fail me today.

  • Finally a youtuber who’s actually realistic and honest, just this one video made me subscribe! I’m thin, I workout, I eat well and I’m so happy with that! It took me so much effort get where I am but that’s just life. Having grown up with obese parents, from young I was always terrified of being like them, then I actually did start putting on weight and eating junk! it’s taken me 3 years to get to a place I’m super happy with myself and would be ashamed to ever get even mildly overweight. YOU CAN CHOOSE TO BE THIN AND NOT FAT

  • You had me until you mentioned no added hormones in meat & dairy. All animals naturally have hormones so when you consume animal products you will always get their hormones. Also dairy is full of fat, hormones, blood, puss, feces, & very many unnecessary ingredients. If you switch to a Plant-based milk & cheese you don’t have to worry about any unwanted ingredients. & it’s actually nutritious for you.

  • Intermittent Fasting, Keto, High Intensity Training and 5×5 alternate day weight training, did it for me.
15KG down. Fatty liver, 5% left to fix.
Try watching I ‘want” to be like this.. not I ‘should’ be thinner.

  • if her outer vagina lips are overlaping/consuming or engulfing her entire vahina, stay the fuck away Ain’t no one got time for that obesity
    Fat acceptance is cancer.

  • Just started working out after gaining 17kg in 2 years. My husband and I are both overweight. So in the past week he lost 0.5kg and I gained 1.1kg. I got so discouraged, and was a little petty with him. I am not giving up. IF I feel discouraged or bored then I’m gonna…(haven’t figured it out yet, any ideas?)

  • It will be interesting if this girl can make some study (video)about what is an average daily diet, eating habits etc, of Americans.
I believe that this dramatic % of overweight people is mostly due to poor quality of food and lack of vegetables in their diet.

  • Tip of the top hat to you, Luke 16K sunscribers! Woohoo!
As for me, a little tip pretty much every weight loss book I’ve read mentions this one, but it doesn’t seem to be used much. If you find yourself flagging and ready to give up, take measurements of your neck, waist, hips, thighs (this off the top of my head, sure there are others) and record them. If that darn scale isn’t budging, guaranteed those measurements are changing. Seen it myself many times weight loss will stall, but those measurements are changing, sometimes by over an inch a day. Another one daily selfies. Again, compare today’s selfie to the previous day’s, or maybe a week back.
Point being, don’t just look at the scale, look at the person. Those changes are happening, even if the scale says otherwise.

  • Oh man, I am hypo. I drink soy milk with my protein powder bc where I am really doesn’t have many options when I want milk with it I didn’t even think to correlate the two… guess I’ll suck it up and just drink it with water till I have more options

  • I have been losing weight for a few weeks now and haven’t been as hungry as I thought I’d be I’m honestly sad I didnt start sooner. A few more kg to go but I’m excited to see my results. Down from 64.5 to 61.7.

  • Quick fixes don’t work. It sounds good, but don’t be pressured. Remember that even a banana has like over 25 grams of carbs so you can;t eat it. You should just stick to bacon, butter, eggs and ice cream, but no bread to suck up that fat.??! And apparently the weight does not stay off after. Plus, you’ll be nauseous and tired for two weeks straight, and even better—risk liver cancer! Wow! Can’t wait!

  • I’m just starting a new way of eating on my own after many yo-yo diets and diets for health issues and I know my biggest issues are psychological barriers. I know how to eat healthy! It’s not that complicated, especially after years of researching it and being on many diets. I just came across this video and the timing is perfect! Thank you! I’ve been thinking about how to set something up for me to do when I start to encounter my eating unhealthy triggers and this is perfect.

  • I used to be into both fitness and healthy eating for a long time except during pregnancy when being told to slow down however after a long series of huge dissapointments I started losing my motivation to stay fit and that is when my healthy eating most of the time while consoling myself by going less than a block away to Safeway to buy treats too started getting the best of me.

  • Lol, this women so fat, she can’t bend to destroy scales on the ground. That is some deep denial. (I should loose some weight tho).

  • it’s perfectly acceptable for women to be fat and equally acceptable for men to stay the fuck away from them. only chubby chasers could be attracted to these fat whales

  • I always hated running with a passion, kept saying I’d rather walk 5 km than run 5 minutes if given the choice. Then I started running. In a month I managed a 30 min 5k from nothing and even though it’s not much, I was so damn proud of myself. I’m keeping it up and plan on completing a 10k in a few more months

  • I’m so glad Oprah has ended those crazy, dangerous diets.

I hope one day she can be happy with her chubby body as is…she’s a lovely, lovely person.

  • I really needed this. I cheated on my diet over Christmas and then fucked up and continued cheating even after. I was considering just giving up, but this is so inspiring, I can’t quit now.

  • Thanks to Dr Stanley for helping me get my boyfriend back, we just have a little misunderstanding which turns out to be breakup. i tried all my best to get him back but he never return back to me until i came across a comment about Dr Stanley a spell caster, i contacted him and explain to him what am passing through and today am happy that he was able to bring him back to me. In case you are passing through any challenges in your relationship or marriage you can contact him through this email drstanlyspelltemple @ gmail. com or call +2348051145100……..

  • This is why I need Oprah on day time TV. I know she has OWN and shows she does but a little dose like this every day is so inspirational for people. I know she just wants to enjoy her life and do other things but she is a good teacher. Maybe one day. Saying that, I don’t believe in Weight Watchers and counting points. I believe in listening to your own body. Every day is a little different with different needs. But I still love Oprah.

  • Thank you for this lost 31 lbs already and I’m stuck and need to lose 20 to 30 more to be healthy. I was so fed up with seeing 197 on the scale but I’m the smaller than I ever was in highschool and it makes me so happy. Your story was so motivating I started crying, Thank you for this

  • People were getting fat before body positivty was a thing, you haven’t proven there’s to what degree a causal link between body positivity and the people not attempting to gain weight exists, you haven’t tried to identify the root cause of the problem, you instead blame people for not trying when in fact, 50% of people say they are trying and much of the other 50% probably aren’t trying because they’ve failed in the past. What we need is to educate these people on how to best lose weight, not shame them. I’m not saying that to virtue signal, I’m saying that from a basis of pragmatism.

  • This is amazing.. I finally understand why I’m so scared and paralyzed in regards to applying for the masters program.. one day at a time… so far I’ve lost 40 lbs in almost 3 months thanks to Mel ♡

  • “That’s a shitty feeling!” hahaha it so is. This is the reason I dropped 35 lbs last year, I’m back to taking care of my self. Funny thing is I left the U. S and my life has changed in alot of way (good ones) I don’t smoke, drink, or find my self in bad relationships. My outlook on life is great now I feel like life is getting better. BTW I dig your channel I share it with as many people (mostly women) because I you put out videos of how I view stuff in life but can’t find the words to say them.

  • U being grossly skinny is not cute. Especially for woman. As woman we naturally hold on to fat for birthing a baby. So teaching woman to be super skinny is wrong.

  • Great video. I cut out all dairy and it seriously contributes to my weight loss and maintenance. Dairy milk has one purpose… make baby cows put on weight and grow fast. Think about it. Organic almond milk is a great alternative and cheese you won’t miss after you give it up for several weeks.

  • Can we make it clear that mental health and physical health are two different things and although losing weight due to obesity is necessary for physical health, societal pressures from pressurizing people to lose weight affect a person’s MENTAL health. The scale is not the issue, but I think we can agree that a number on a scale also doesn’t determine health. I am not saying that people dealing with obesity should embrace their health issues, but the beauty industry continuing to focus on an external beauty further makes it difficult for people to motivate themselves to improve their physical health.

  • Swinging that hammer was the most exercise she’s ever had. She should keep pounding them instead of pounding back Big Macs

  • Does Custokebon Secrets (search on google) help me lost crazy amounts of weight? I see lots of people keep on speaking about this popular lose weight methods.

  • The US is celebrating obesity now?!?! And accepting it as “normal”?!?! What the hell?! Thank God I live in Southern Europe, where fat people are still a rare thing to see. By the way not accepting fatness as normal, and even shaming fat people, is very motivational for people here to stay in shape.

  • I have tried to be nice about it but people never see the nice way so now the best way I can help people understand why everyone needs to be healthy is this way:

One day, you walk home and your child is on the floor and just died of a heat attack because they were overweight because you said it was okay to be overweight and now you get to bury your child and can never go back in time wishing you had lived a healthier life. BUT WHY USE SUCH A SAD EXAMPLE MAN. THAT’S NOT COOL? Okay. Your child comes home and you just died of a heart attack because you didn’t care about your health and now your overweight child doesn’t have a parent anymore and will have to live in a foster home or with a family member and forever hate the fact that you lied to them that you will be taking care of them until they are old. Since being nice about it doesn’t make any sense, let’s use an example that will.

Out of 10 people who hears it when I say it that way, 8 get up and walk away while 2 stay to be role models and inspirations to themselves and their children. Humans were born to be fit and healthy. But what of football players, they’re big people especially the linebackers? Yeah they are but far healthier than one may think. Linebackers are known to be far healthier than most and someone who looks healthy and will outgun anyone who is just healthy and not an athlete. And for those who are athletes, they will probably not challenge football players to a competition unless they know they can win.

America, stop being the country many countries are making fun of saying we’re fat when they are actually right, America is a fat.

  • I know it’s hard but write it down and just do it. Anytime we do something new is always hard in the beginning. But u dont have to lift 200 pounds. Start by power walking and dont think about it

  • I stand on a scale at least 5 times a day to check my weight, it’s like an obsession with not gaining weight and if I go up in weight at all I won’t eat anything out of guilt…. It’s probably really unhealthy idk.. any advice…?
    (Btw I weigh 58kg and I’m 14 and 5ft4)

  • I’ve gone from 425 lbs down to 160. It’s been a lot of work, but so worth it! Anyway, even when I was big, I was never able to get on board with the whole “fat acceptance” movement. I was so unhealthy, and there was nothing sexy or empowering about it! I had diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and atrial fibrillation (I still deal with the last two, but both conditions are soooooooo much better now that I’ve lost weight). I wouldn’t trade being healthy for anything! It was so worth every ounce of effort that went into it!

  • What do you recommend for vegetarians? I eat soy burgers etc because I don’t eat meat so a lot of the vegetarian options have soy.

  • Without you needing to starve yourself or give up your favorite snacks and treats via this: Max.Secured.Kim. The ingredients and scientific method of this is pretty awesome. Say goodbye to belly fat and weakness.

  • I got ripped off…I ordered some on June 5th…it was suppose to be buy 3 for $39.99 and get 2 FREE…why was $158.00 taken out of my debit card??????
I want my money BACK…you can shuff it..

  • I really needed this. I wanted to give up because I could tell I physically lost weight (my pants were looser, I could see my collarbones more) but when I stepped on the scale the numbers didnt change which really made me sad

  • I think Oprah has the impulse for excess cultivated by her wealth. Her resources allow her to do and have anything she wants without limit which has become a lifestyle. So for her, limiting her intake of food will be a struggle because in all other aspects of her life she does not have to adhere to limits. She lives in the zone of indulgence and that’s why psychologically it is difficult for her to practice limits when it comes to food.

  • Wow! The scale destroyer actually did some physical work… and admits it is better than sex. 40 000 more sit ups and you’ll actually get to enjoy all the other wonderful things that come with working out.

I can only speak from my own experiences but as I drag my ass to the gym it is usually 15-20 minutes in that I realize how vital that time is for my health, my future and my well-being. So, as our classy scale destroyer exemplifies, you do the work first and then the results come.

  • You use a lot of terminology like inflammation, free radicals, and antioxidants….Is there a way that I can email you directly or something being a new viewer with Hashimoto’s Hypothyroidism? I know I may be able to find a Conact Page on a website, but I worry I wont get you personally because I have been burned in the past by pages like this.

  • Have you been tried to be overweight and always browsing for ways to lose weight effectively? If you want to get more tips to follow https://www.besthealthlab.com/piperine-best-fat-burning-foods/

  • Oprah honestly speaking this is how GOD formed your body u were never meant to be a size 6 or 8 GOD has truly blessed you please stop with this obsession of being thin thin doesn’t equal healthy eat healthy and exercise and live your life know one wants to go through life countlng points and not having a bowl of pasta or nachos every now and then. PLEASE STOP OBSESSING ABOUT YOUR WEIGHT.

  • Wow! I just realized, even though tiredness and needing to get things done WAS an issue, absolutely everything that sends me off in the wrong direction is some form of someone seeking to control me /putting their influence on my life and me either wanting to fight against it or being too tired to fight against them.

  • Might have something to do with the unnatural “food” that most Americans are offered in stores without even knowing. You don’t see Europeans or other continents struggling with weight even close to the extent you see it in the U.S. Just saying moderation can only get you so far when you’re putting trash into your body! Time to fix America’s broken food industry! XOXO 😉

  • My own experience is that losing weight is a losing battle every time. There are so many diets out there because all of them are failures concentrating on symptoms rather than the root causes.
Free gym, wow! I so did not want to see that part with hammering that scale.

  • I am my own road block. Been trying to lose the same 15 lbs for 15 years. I am going to try this today and every day. Practice males perfect. Every time i get bored and want to eat I will go to the basement and set a timer to organize something for 15-30 min. I have procrastinated that basement for too long. Thank you Ms Mel, I am GOING to do this!

  • Hi Oprah, love you, how about you try a Ketogenic Lifestyle? You will always be full, never count calories, and the weight just falls off!

  • Those wemen are gross. They get that big they sweat like pigs. And smell no matter what. My 2nd wife was skinny when I got with her. Then she just sat around stuffing her face now she is over 250 lbs that’s more then me. I’m 180 and it’s all in her butt. Then wouldn’t cook clean and it got to no sex at all. I struggled with her for over 8 years her mouth was as bad as her body odor. I had lost all in her and had to leave. We talk but nothing more. I am still trying to get divorced after 8 years we been apart. She always complains never happy. And her house stinks too.

  • Wow she is so aware of her food addiction. I think thats a huge prob with obesity-emotional eating. Im not a food addict but i have an addictive personality n ive used it as a crutch in the past when i was goin thru stress and i did put on weight. Now its more a struggle of choosing healthy vs not esp when ur on a budget.

  • I remember when I was 13 and overweight, my school did cross country. I’ve always enjoyed running even if I was never the best at it. The race was 3 km which was a lot for me at the time. Throughout the race I stopped a total of probably 2 times and it took me about 10 mins. I ended up coming first and I was so proud, I had never come first before in an athletic event and I still have the medal up in my room today:)

  • Im not even dieting per se, just recovering from two surgeries and dreading in advance having to stay home til radiation therapy is over. Thus was helpful.

  • I have trouble turning away free foodusually coupons from fast food establishments (as we live next door to a mall, with every fast food location imaginable!)
Struggling to have food in the house, so I feel so guilty any time I turn it down.

  • I love this video! This is the first non workout video I’m watching of yours. I’m not so much trying to lose weight, but we healthier (which will cause the bit of weight loss I do want)

I do need to start thinking of food as fuel. I’ll even take junk food(sometimes even cereal like fruutloops or cookies!) on my long hikes which is extremely pointless haha
I’ve been working on eliminating chips and continuing with my extremely limited soda intake

  • Do Asian ppl eat a lot of soy? They are pretty healthy men and women overall. I do enjoy and appreciate what I’m learning from your videos. I just take what works for me.

  • I read a lot of superb reviews on the internet about how Fenoboci Diet Plan (just search it on google) will help you lost a lot of weight. Has anybody tried using this popular fat loss system?

  • Should have checked in here before I ate like ten free cookies at work … Ugh I have only been at this round of weight loss for about three weeks but these free cookies at my workplace… I work lone nightshifts so it just becomes one cookie after another ugh went off on a tangent, good motivational video

  • Hey guys ive been crying all day right now i made myself a bowl of food and some bread but im holding back. Ive been wanting food for hours and hours its constantly in the back of my mind, I just want it to stop I havent eaten yet i came here for something to get me through. I think the thing that triggered me (Im sensitive) was this morning i was ordering food from a noodle place for my aunty and it triggered me to want that food, smelling it didnt help either, and then the guy taking my order didnt hear me properly and he just did this kind of annoyed “what?” movement with his head and i was like but anyways ive been craving since then and feeling Alone, feeling like ive already failed, feeling like ill never get past these feelings, feeling like im not worthy of respect or change, feeling so so uncomfortable… this food is staring at me… and seducing me with its delicious aroma… Im scared im so so scared

  • Oprah, you just have a big boned body type. Like me. Accept that it will never change. Everyone snacks. It is not your fault. Revel in your shape.

  • You’re welcome:)

    1 foods without nutritional value
    2 deep fried foods
    3 gmo-soy products
    4 meat/dairy with added hormones
    5 added sugars

  • Great informative video:) I’m curious when you might choose your whole milk over the almond milk? I noticed in other videos you have almond milk in your coffee. What’s your go to use for whole milk?:)

  • Here’s a lesson on agriculture: there’s literally no “hormone free” meat. Every animal has them and you can’t avoid it. If your paying extra for “hormone free” poultry or pork, then stop, because the FDA prohibits added hormones. Hormones are sometimes added to dairy cows however to stimulate milk production.

  • A little different but I thought I’d just post this for anyone with chronic health problems.
When this was posted 8 months ago I was bed bound. As of 4 months ago I could walk maybe 200m and then sleep for 4 hours.
Today I can walk 2.5k in 31 minutes, everyday. Even when I get drenched to the bone.
I have to constantly remind myself that 30 minutes is a massive amount of time for me. Saying it to someone else probably sounds feeble or pathetic, but for me, going from bed bound to walking 2.5k is huge!
Keep going you guys and don’t forget to love yourself a little more

  • I eat Oreida or Nathans crinkle cut baked fries. Taste great, low fat less than 20 gr. of carbs per serving and 90 to 100 calories per serving of about 15 fries.

  • Understand the insulin and glucagon biofeedback system. Learn about how to create a habit in order to eat as infrequent as possible. Fasting is the key.

  • I had hypothyroidism. I did only two things: 1) Gave up dairy and drastically reduced meat intake and 2) drank a concoction of dry coriander seeds soaked overnight in warm water first thing in the morning. Less than 2months later, I no longer have the problem

  • Who said that you need a check up from the neckup, focus on the goal is being whole, wisdom will save you from an empty existence, so read the Book of Proverbs, and develop some resistance.

  • I swapped my tequila sunrises with tequila sodas with limes in it! I wanted to continue drinking my tequila with something more refreshing and not as sugary. Everyone thinks I’m so weird and I didn’t know anyone else actually drank it!

  • That’s because Doctors don’t learn Diet and Nutrition in Med school. And the world is being fed lies by the food industry.

Weight gain is caused by Carbohydrate (which turn to sugar in the blood) not by fat!!!
Lipogenesis is a process by which the body synthesis Lipid (fat) inside our body. Our body synthesize body fat from Glucose! Not fat!
In fact, Dietary fat is the only thing in the body that cannot be turned into Fat.

Fat does not make us fat. Carbohydrate does!
It’s a nomenclature problem. It’s knee-jerk reaction people have when they hear the word “Fat” (dietary fat) and associate it with “Fat” (body fat).

  • I lost 7 pounds in 1.5 months just because I ate a little less than I usually do. Unfortunately, I wasn’t overweight and now I’m underweight. I hope this helps someone though. Any tips for gaining weight?

  • Just curious, I love your work out videos and I’m not trying to be anything at all. Why do you “not believe” in a vegan diet? I understand it might not work for you, especially because some people have healthy concerns, but it is certainly not an unhealthy lifestyle. Many people are vegan because of environmental sustainability as well, not just because they don’t want to eat meat. We simply can not sustain meat in our diets the way we currently are. I encourage you to look up reasons why you should stop eating red meat and dairy, and to get a better understanding of agricultural practices and how they harm the environment, if you don’t already.:)

  • All milk is full of hormones, added or not, because it’s meant to give nutrients to baby cows. Nobody needs milk past the infant stage, human or non-human. I’m not a vegan, I’m just stating the facts!!! Meat on the other hand is often full of hormones in order for factory farmers to raise the biggest animals possible and therefore make the most money.

  • Milk does NOT have added hormones whether it’s conventional, grass fed, organic, or what ever, they are all tested THE SAME. Your misinformation is astounding.

  • You know it’s really sad how much extra sugar is added to stuff; especially when it doesn’t truly make any difference to the taste because you know the manufacturer is adding it just to get people addicted.

  • As a 21 BMI person with BED, anorexia isn’t the only eating disorder.

That being said, I’m fully against people deluding themselves into believing excessive fat isnt a major issue.

  • tomato sauce typically has sugar to balance the flavor and cut the bitterness of the tomatoes. it’s not just added for the heck of it.

  • If fail and don’t try and try again then you are a quitter. The point of failure is to learn how you can do better. To learn where you fall short. If you are afraid of failure you are looking at failure the wrong way. These people are delusional and dumb.

  • Anybody tested out the Custokebon Secrets (google search it)? I’ve heard many amazing things about this popular weight loss secrets.

  • It’s not hard to loose weight, especially for overweight people since they have a higher TDEE and even eating 1,800 calories a day would result in a significant weigh loss

  • Carbohydrates directly cause obesity, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, liver disease and dementia aka brain shrinkage/human brain de-evolution

  • Coconut oil is actually not good for you to ingest on a daily, it is solid at room temperature and is a saturated fat! Definitely needs to be consumed in small amounts or should be avoided all together. On the other hand, avocado oils and olive oils contain healthy fats!

  • All of the women in my family has hippo, so I grew up eating no soy. My parents would put soy as an allergies. When I went to college I strayed off my normal eating habits because I was poor. I gained a lot of weight and fast. I have been experimenting a little. I have noticed that going soy free again does help with the side effects, but I fail sometimes. I lost 6 pounds on the first month of being gluten-free. Thank you for sharing, this is helpful.

  • The truth is that many people are naturally fat and weight loss is very un natural. People are sick of starving and failing. I don’t blame anyone for giving up

  • With no disrespect to Oprah..this is a older tape….she was a little thick at the royal wedding.. the show, shows she never gives up. I can remember her pulling that wagon across the stage with all that fat on it. And she admitted that was her worst mistake period and right behind that she started gaining the weight rapidly back. But she’ll succeed because she would not be the Savvy business woman she is today.

  • Just a side comment on the “why would they even put sugar in pasta sauce?”. My mom always put just a pinch of sugar while cooking tomato sauce, and apparently she did it to counteract the natural acidity of the tomatoes. This doesn’t argue what you were saying which it is undeniable there’s tons of sugar where there shouldn’t, just thought it was a curious fact on the specific issue of the pasta sauce XD

  • Please DO NOT GO ON A DIET,because it may only cause eating disorders and negative effects on mental health! Restrictions and deprivation may get You to weight cycling…food obsession. Please check “intuitive eating”, anti-diet and healing body-image.

  • Yea i think we are lose rules to eat healthy food to provided our body. The right thing is eat healthy food contian vitamines, minerals, fibers and proteins good sources to supplmet to fight any infection it can cause harm to our body.about alkoholism yea it cause liver failer because found toxin materials and destroy paranchyml liver cells and lose function excrete waste products to out of body.thank you for this medical program and share experients and talk about how do we feel with any medical proplem and disease we have.

  • Perhaps it’s natures way of reducing the worlds population

just like plagues and wars in the past. Obese people will just

die by the time their 45.

  • I figure that even if my weight loss attempts are unsuccessful, I’m usually doing things that positively impact my health like jogging regularly and drinking tons of water. I’ve achieved milestones I thought were impossible, despite what the scale and mirror imply. So it’s worth it for me to keep trying, even if it’s just for the other results and to battle weight gain (when I’m not actively trying to lose weight I just end up gaining, so “failing” by staying the same weight is definitely not the worst thing for me lol).:)

  • Hey:) I think your over all point is right, people suffering from obesity should do something against it. For themselfes, for their helth etc. But I must say that you Seem ignorant about the psycological effects of overweight. Often those people have an eatingdisorder, like binging, Adipositas, Bulemic you Name it. I myself was triggered by the scale bevor i got help with it. Please if you make another Video, let your critisism be more construktive. I know you are passioned about that, but blaming someone for him being ill does Not help:)

  • Thank you Mel for your expertise and words of wisdom. You really break down all the scenarios and excuses that block us & that we all face in trying to live our best life for ourselves. Thank you again

  • I THINK PPL should give up on the diet industry & eat Whole Foods to lose weight but they’re finding a different thing to blame than themselves & the diet industry

  • thanks for the tips! i’m starting a diet to help me lose weight along with a work-out regimen. Sometimes I run out of ideas on what to eat so listening to your videos is helping.

  • Honestly I don’t think diets work. We only have limited willpower so Mel’s suggestions for tooling up for your willpower crucial scenarios is perfect. I had been trying to loose weight for over a decade and yo-yo’d my weight so much that my skin is a bit of a mess. I would follow a diet and loose say 6 stone but then the unhealthy mental stuff would come up and I would be on the verge of an eating disorder and have to stop. I have now lost 30 pounds in 2 years and kept it off safely. I have limited energy as I have had a lot of issues with pain and sleeping over the years. Counselling was the number 1 thing that helped me, then instead of a diet I said to myself what could I do for the rest of my life? Try one thing a week. First I educated myself on food, I used nutritionfacts.org because he reviews the science papers and sifts through the ones paid for by companies to prove their products are great and gets to the real facts. Next I made a shopping list every week, then I learnt to meal plan, then I worked out how to make my fave food from scratch to swap out processed foods and learnt to cook, then I created boundaries around my treat foods. Make sure you tell your doctor what you are doing so they can give you a blood test and make sure you are getting the right nutrients. I was low in D3 because I don’t go out more so I now know my next habit is to sit in the garden for 15mins a day so I can make my D3. If you try something and it doesn’t work, ok, move of to the next. Learn why, don’t judge yourself, your body just didn’t like it. Stack up healthy habits and change your lifestyle. Your body will do the rest. I’m also now off all my depression meds and physical health meds. Knowing you have the power to change your life is empowering for me, especially after years of trauma as a kid. I still have 60 pounds to go but I will get there. I’m already a 1/3 done Hope this helps someone, you can do it too.

  • Great advice. I’ve been in and out of diets, losing and regaining big chunks of weight many times over for the past 15 years. I agree, this is the best advice to achieve your goals. But of course, these are just mere tools (the “how”). You still need to have a strong will/desire to follow through consistently

  • This is so how I eat…happy, sad bored, tired, anxious, empty…only intense puppy love ever got rid of the over eating…but that love had gone…well kind of… so back go ground zero again!

  • Thank you for the tips. Im losing weight as I was very unhealthy I had two weight related conditions one of them endangers my life I’m not saying that weight always causes health issues but combined with a hard life I got this issue. Theres a chance I may be fine. This is the number one reason I am losing it. Im 34 and have achieved none of my dreams. Never do I want to see that number again as I deal with the trauma of not knowing if I am going to be alive in 12 months. I put on 4 pounds after christmas which I really couldn’t afford to do. I lost a quarter of pound and one the day before. Its the fear that I wont lose weight fast enough. It makes any weight gain tough as I actually cant afford to. Also didn’t sleep well. The thing to watch Is when you lose weight make sure that you don’t get slower and don’t keep trigger foods in the house. Forgetting to drink water due to lack of time also can derail progress. I travel a lot and drinking water isn’t ideal. I took a break from it after gaining as I was sick of it. I buy a few snacks but leave the extras in break rooms. I find extra portions of the trigger food gone. I found buying a low fat dinner and have one chocolate at a party better than social eating.

  • I just found this channel yesterday and I’ve been watching everything!! Thank you so much for this video. Thyroid problems run in my family snd I’ve just recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and this video was very informative.

  • BMI is a total scam. I am normal looking and have a normal weight for my height and still the BMI was too low. I don’t think BMI’s are correct. You can see if someone needs put or loose weight.

  • As a former extreme fatty, 20+ years ago, I’ve been thin most of my life. I’m thin now, I eat right, exercise both my body and willpower and YES the fat acceptance is utter bullshit. Americans are fat and the tsunami of disease because of it is coming… The medical system won’t survive, and with 67% of Americans being obese (33% of those are morbidly obese), it’s actually a matter of national security.

HowEVER… your shit attitude and words matter, “snowflake”. When you let your ignorant MAGA out, you lose all credibility ‍♀️
Don’t assume these people are weak, or they’ll eat your skinny ass. Trust me, they can wait you out of your bunker

  • What about eating oatmeal, as in overnight oats? That has become my breakfast. I do use almond milk. Am hyperthyroid, among other things.

  • Your videos always seem to have perfect timing lol. I went from 280 down to 210-215 and I’m just stuck here. I figured my best bet is to eat matience calories for a couple weeks to let my metabolism reset before I cut again

  • You are God sent. thank you so much. I needed to hear this. God has truly blessed me with your message. don’t ever stop. you are destined for this here inspirational mentoring! #YourBlessed! xo ☺

  • I relate so much to Oprah on the emotional eating problem. It’s sooo hard to overcome. I battle with it every day. Thanks for being honest! I will never give up either…

  • I need to get away from social media and mirrors ‍♀️ for 2 months so that I may see my progress…. because I’m super depressed SUPER!

  • I’ve gained 10lb the last 3 weeks. Mainly don’t have motivation because I stopped working and bills have gotten to me. Not working annoys me and and I have more time through out my day to eat. Hoping to get back on track as I landed a better job and I start next week.

  • D world still have a lot of space to fit fat persons…why must everyone slim and forced until have Ed, depression or healthy problems because of the “slim is only mean you are enough good” bull shit new generation trendy…‍♀️how many persons can live for themselves without care other people’s judgement?‍♂️ learning forgive ourselves and accept the imperfections, you will become mentally strong☺️

  • She actually makes me so mad, just stop. U have no right to tell obese people to lose weight. It’s easy for you to say for them to lose weight, but I’m sure if you were born with fat people gens you would feel the same as the obese people.

  • I am 61 yrs old and have hypothyroidism like yourself. I am very excited i found your site. I love your jorney. I recently went meat and dairy and sugar free. I lost 13lbs. My doctor was amazed. I added yoga and 30 mins treadmill and biking. I am excited to continue. I have been looking for inspiration and i think you are going to hekp me

  • Let me be fat and call myself Barbie! It’s my right to be a sad huge delusional woman, mmkay? My feelings are more important than the heart attack I’m going to die of.

  • I don’t get it. I gain a kilogram and I can feel it clawing at my theighs… I feel heavy, lazy and don’t feel like doing anything….

  • I massively appreciate this video. One of my triggers is my spouse.
It is so difficult daily but I am truly motivated and have lost nearly a hundred pounds and I Will stick to this damn diet
If I feel like I want to over eat, then I will do a YouTube workout video, and instead of feeling guilty for over eating I feel amazing from seeing the muscles working and knowing I’m doing something great for this body that takes me everywhere and needs to be healthy! Or I will listen to music and surf funny videos, go outside in nature, video games, crafting.

  • She is so honest about her problem I really respect her for telling this. Also, she was entertaining and charming while telling the story! Love Oprah! <3

  • Could you link a source on the soy thing? I’ve seen plenty of research saying it’s a myth that it’s even possible for us to consume enough soy for it to be harmful. I’ve never seen anything to back up that it’s true…?

  • It’s true that weight doesn’t determine your health. Your bmi, blood pressure, etc does. The weight could be from muscle or fat so a 200 lb man could be either a fit person or an unhealthy one

  • I have the way to help your weight loss journey if you’re willing and discipline. Tried and proven plan. I created and worked for over 10 years to make sure it works.

  • It is very hands to not binge eat when ur depressed and the circumstances are crashing down. And to make it worse, there is the coronavirus. Too much stress =binge eating. Somehow I don’t feel the guilt of binge eating, I’m probably numb. I’m just chucking down stuff automatically. I miss school.

  • 1.Goes to the gym an works out
    2.Drinks alot of water
    3.havent pooped since 1.5 days
    4.lost 2.5 kg of bodyfat
5.goes on scale and sees that he gained 5 kgs conclusion=You lost fat look leaner but the scale makes you wanna quit a lifestyle for your better health

  • I showed this to some of my patients who Starts their weight loss journey in Quarantine.
Thanks for this! Words have the power to heal! Wish everyone a great start!

  • Sugar is added to tomato based EVERYTHING for a GOOD reason, they are very acidic so sugar is added to cut the acidic taste, it’s a good chemistry thing. Not just unnecessary sugar. Like adding salt and pepper. It has a purpose.

  • I keep telling myself. “Imagine how much progress you’ll accomplish in 5 months if you don’t stop” and I haven’t. I keep going and I’m doing it for no one but myself. You can’t do something like weight loss for others. It has to be something you WANT to do. Down 65 pounds since January and still going. It’s possible. You got this

  • Safety goggles so you can protect your eyes and know when the obesity made you blind because you decided to destroy your scale about 200 pounds back.

  • Imagine yourself at the end goal. That has helped me, when it gets hard and I question why am I doing this I think of me graduating Navy Boot Camp in those dress whites. Right now I have lost 99lbs and still going, my goal is to be fit enough to join the Navy. I am 261 pounds as of now and still going.

  • Just found you and enjoyed this video. Will subscribe for more! I’m interested to know if you also cut out flour and refined grains. I eliminated flour and white rice, and also sugar a year ago and feel so much better!

  • My biggest issue is chips! And I’m waayyyyy too lazy to bake my own kale chips and they always come out soggy. Any store bought alternative people know of that will give me my spicy chip fix but it’s healthy??

  • It’s not that I feel like giving up, I wont…but I just feel like crap lately because whenever I look in the mirror, I don’t see a difference. I’ve lost 55 pounds since January, but I still have so much to go. I’ve read some people who have lost 70+ pounds since January & I wonder why I haven’t lost as much. I’ve joined a gym and I’ve gone 5 days a week since I’ve joined. But the scale hasn’t budged! I am in a calorie deficit and I’m eating healthy and working out. I thought I was doing everything right, but the scale only moves a pound or so a week. I wonder if I’ll ever be slim, or if I’ll always be fat. I started at 280, now I’m 225, but my goal is around 140.

  • I’ve lost 50 pounds over the last year and looking back I am so thankful for all the hard work my old self did to get me here! Just imagine your future self and how happy, healthy, and thankful you will be:)

  • I bought myself a hometrainer cause I have the problem of not having motivation to go outside so I hope I’m going to get more exercise this way!! Thabk you for these videos, can’t say it enough

  • America will collapse internally, how can you have leaders and successful people when they die of heart disease in their thirties

  • Mel;
The greater part of my life I was lean and in great shape.
After my first divorce from an unfaithful woman I began to gain weight slowly, and after a second divorce from a Narcissist I began to gain even more weight.
I was up to 215 pounds when I realized I needed to do something. I was able to drop 35 pounds in a matter of 3 months, and the year to follow I gained 15 pounds of it back, putting me at 195 pounds today. My goal was to get back down to where I felt the best years ago (145-150 pound). I was lean strong and had more energy than all my friends (what I thought were friends) at the time combined.
I would love to get back to where I once was, but what does it really matter when I have no one in my life anymore?
I find my self relating to the song, In The End by Linkin Park
In the end it doesn’t even matter.
I suffered a nervous breakdown after my first marriage and now battle my emotions, lost everything in my life at one point, became homeless and alone, 10 years later allowed loneliness to blind the fact I was now in a relationship with a Narcissist who caused me to despair even of life to the point of wanting to take my own life.
There is a food program I generated for myself that I really enjoy, but I struggle to fix decent meals for myself and so laps back to eating very poorly and am not very active anymore.
It also does not help that the fresh foods I desire on my program are not always available in the winter where I live, so once again I go back to eating very poorly.
I don’t know how to break out of this and take my life back.

  • 2 years ago i got sick and i took some medicine for pain, the problem was that the pills were expired 2 years ago and i got poisoned 5 days at the hospital and the doctor told me that i really needed to lose weight. I was 255 pounds im 5,4. So 3 months later i left my ex fiance and i started losing weight i stop drinking soda and eating chips everyday (i love chips) im only eating out once per week and i walk with my dog 4 times per week. Im 180 pounds i lost 75 pounds. I still want to lose between 25 to 30 more. Doing the same and taking my time and i havent gained nothing back. No diet pills, no miracle teas just lots of water and eating healthy.

  • Sugars cut acid in tomatoes. I’d like to learn more about soy because tons of asians eat soy and arent fat. Plus there are vegans that eat soy that are thin. I understand that soy does interact with hypothyroidism. But it would be informative

  • This is the exact video I needed. I binged the past 2 days & I almost gave in again today. I’m disappointed in setting myself back BUT excited to get back on it!

  • Great story, but this doesn’t really help. I have an addictive personality, which means I am always addicted to something. My personal life has become so stressful lately the only thing that makes me happy is sweets. I’ve been trying to keep under my calorie limit (as far as a few days ago I’m still losing) but I’m just really down and depressed. Any ideas?
(PS I hope you all have a wonderful day)

  • I’m not going to cut out sugar but I have been trying to be more conscious of it. I’ve switched from a 14g sugar protein bar to a 5g one that also has more protein and started buying plain yogurt and adding only a small amount of raw honey same with oatmeal. But you know if I want a cookie I’ll eat one to me its not about cutting all sugar out like some evil thing its about being conscious of it daily so you can have it when you REALLY want and enjoy it instead of in stuff where there’s no need for it.

  • I notice many people keep on talking about Custokebon Secrets (search on google). But Im not sure if it is good. Have you ever tried this popular weight loss secrets?

  • Finally someone who talks sense. I’ve been saying this stuff for year. And free radicals are also at the source of all life-threatening illnesses such as cancer.

  • I’m crying quite a bit, I’m going to start running and I thought things like “I’ll never run a 5k or anything”. But I’ve been thinking about how now it’s really possible

  • Appreciate video content! Apologies for the intrusion, I would love your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about Scarlazzina Exemplary Genie (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is an awesome one of a kind product for being your perfect weight forever without the normal expense. Ive heard some great things about it and my close friend Aubrey finally got amazing results with it.
