The new study found that the experimental vaccine protected about 90 percent of adults age 70 and up. And the effects were still apparent four years later. By comparison, the existing vaccine, Zostavax, cuts the risk of shingles by about half. And immunity wanes within five years, according to the CDC.

When it comes to preventing the painful rash and blisters of shingles, a new vaccine has arrived that promises to be more effective at protecting people from these agonizing symptoms. But experts. Two doses of Shingrix is more than 90% effective at preventing shingles and PHN. Protection stays above 85% for at least the first four years after you get vaccinated.

Shingrix is the preferred vaccine, over Zostavax® (zoster vaccine live), a shingles vaccine in use since 2006. Doctors started using the first shingles vaccine, called Zostavax, in 2006. It was recommended for people over 60. It uses a weak form of the chickenpox virus to send your body’s immune system.

Zostavax is a live vaccine given as a single injection, usually in the upper arm. Shingrix is a nonliving vaccine made of a virus component. It’s given in two doses, with two to six months between doses.

The most common side effects of either shingles vaccine are redness, pain, tenderness, swelling and itching at the injection site, and headaches.

Avaccine has recently been produced for the prevention of shingles inthe over 60s (Zostavax® –reduced incidence of shingles by 64%in those aged 60–69 yearsand reduced post herpetic neuralgia by 39% in those vaccine recipients who developed shingles).

While the herpes zoster vaccine is certainly a major advance in our efforts to prevent shingles, the 50 % efficacy of the current vaccine for preventing incident herpes zoster is suboptimal.

  • So let me get this straight. Shingles is more prevalent now than it was 10 years ago and the shingles vaccine has been around for about 10 years. Hmmm. Interesting. If there is a vaccine now, why is it more prevalent than ever? Shouldn’t cases of shingles be declining instead of rising? You both keep saying no one knows why yet it is as plain as the noses on your faces.

  • Your product for beating both Hsv1,Hsv2 is simply the best Dr. kwaloe on you tube, finally i tested negative to the contagious virus after consuming your herbal meds

  • A good friend has battled her once in a while outbreak with lysine and Olive Leaf extract. When she feels like something is about to happen, she takes that combo and it’s gone. In addition, stress management, and healthy diet, light daily exercise, and healthy weight she claimed has helped her.

  • I always had reoccurring sore blisters, my world seem like what was ending. I thought I would never come out of this nightmare until I heard of Dr Jude’s remedy to cure. I got skeptical at first because I have tried so many other medications and remedies recommended to me but they never had any effect but when i did more research I saw some testimonies and reviews about this medicine. Since I tried out this remedy I have gotten back my life, I am not here to make ads but help someone who might have gone through this situation trying to get rid of this virus, drjudeherbalhome. com has an answer to your problems. • CURED FROM GENITAL HERPES VIRUS
It’s a pleasure for me to write this testimony about how i got my Genital Herpes cured a month ago. i have been reading so many comments of some people who were cured from various diseases by Dr.Hazim, but i never believed them. I was hurt and depressed so I was too curious and wanted to try Dr. Hazim, then i contacted him through his email address ([email protected]) when i contact him, he assured me 100% that he will heal me, i pleaded with him to help me out. My treatment was a great success, he healed me just as he promised. he sent me his medication via UPS courier Delivery and ask me to go for check up after 21 days of taking the medication. i agreed with him i took this medication and went for check up after 21 days of the treatment, To my greatest surprise my result came out  negative after the treatment, I’m very happy that i was cured and been  healthy again. I waited for 3 weeks to be very sure if I was completely healed before writing this testimony. I did another blood test one week ago and it was still genital Herpes negative. so i guess its time i recommend anyone going through genital Herpes, HSV-1 or HSV-2, HIV, HPV, Hepatitis B, Diabetes, Cancer, ALS  to contact this great man through his Email ([email protected]) OR add him up on whatsApp  +2349058026857Thanks Doctor Hazim Usman

  • Just curious my daughter who is turning 20 ended up with shingles. She was talking to her other friends so far 5 of them had shingles between ages 14 to 18. I am curious because everyone I was talking to including myself thought it was an older person disease by any chance could the chicken pox vaccine could of cost for the younger generation to end up having contracted shingles?

  • I am over 55 yrs. of age, got the first shot, cost about $161.00, which hurt as much as the shot itself, side effects for me, pretty rough, by next day felt like a hard case of influenza without the vomiting and diarheah, but you felt like vomiting, on a scale of one to 10, a 4 or so. Arms in pain, body hurt, headache for 3 days, slept like at least 6 hours off and on day after shot (within 7 hours) fatigue was severe, sweated for 3 + days, by 3rd day head/face sweated and headach lifted. Some people have light reactions to this vaccine, mine seemed quite severe, if it is even 25% of what true shingles is, get the damned vaccine, cause SHINGLES can cause BLINDNESS AND DEAFNESS, etc. one month of being SICK does NOT appeal to me, does it to you?

I do not work in medical profession, but thought I would share the good, bad and ugly about the ‘shingles vaccine’, I can get the 2nd shot in 2 months (they are pricey ) but losing a month of work is even pricer, isn’t it?

I did get the rash where shot was injected, itches like a bad case of poison ivy, keeping my hands off of it, I want to scratch it a lot, and never stop.. the itchiness is pretty intense.

If you want to mingle, get the shingle/s shot…. this is not a condition you would enjoy.

  • I received the first shot of Shingrix in March, and have tried VERY UNSUCCESSFULLY since then to get the booster shot which is recommended as part of the protocol. There is NO pharmacy in Los Angeles that has the vaccine, and I even called GSK, speaking to three people there, and there is no indication from anybody when or if or whether the vaccine ever again will be available.
