  • It’s actually more complicated… What if working for a boss and you really don’t like it so you just will dream of another thing against your will perhaps your focus is completely scattered and zero to working? Or a job is painful and dangerous and the only things that will get attention automatically are fear, extreme disgust, and hate?
    I also have difficulties to gain focus when beginning a task. But if talking about the hobbies then the focus can grow that big so I even can’t sleep when doing a task sometime in a row already because time runs out so fast and things are often incomplete which makes a dissatisfaction and need to complete. This is like a question between extreme laziness and diligence which is probably one of the very extreme mental issues. ��

It would be great if you and/or other viewers could address two things I need help on: 1) How to do deep work on multiple different things? A day for each area of deep focused work or divide up the focus time? 2) I need to do outdoor work in the mornings before it gets too hot, this has messed up my focused computer morning work time.   • Honestly, I think that focus is largely a result the way that you feel about yourself and the way that you feel emotionally about the possibilities for yourself, which is often the byproduct of childhood relationships, as well inspiration. I think that focus starts with dealing with those things.

  • So, last month I was playing with notification settings in iPhone. Now, I only get banners for “important stuff”. But, if I slide down, I still see all notifications about mail, uploads on youtube, notifications from IG etc. It works perfect, I’m spending less time on my phone. Also, if I want to be notified about YT uploads, I have to click the bell on my PC browser, if I do it on my phone, it will take me to notification settings that way I get notified in notifications list (slide down) but not with the sound of the banner. Keep up the good work, I wish I was like you in your age. You make me wanna go to school again:)

  • Having good psych and phy us impt but good techniques requires constant effort and awareness on what the he’ll you are doing. Most important part? Give yourself space to think. You don’t always have to do something to give you progress. Think carefully before you do. And do it quick.   • hi guys, the greatest results that i’ve ever had was by following the Magic Focus Plan (i found it on google) without a doubt the most useful method i’ve tried.

  • This is so true and so important. I can say from experience that deep work really works and that working in a distracted state is extremely counterproductive and the same for multitasking.

  • One can train the mind to focus 8 hours at a stretch. Did this in Grad School in order to write my doctoral thesis. I just retired from teaching and am writing a book. Up to 5 hours at a stretch now. Don’t own T.V. and I limit internet use.

  • I love how people have been so conditioned to accept evolution as a creative process, that they miss the fact that it’s a random, mindless, purposeless, process. It doesn’t plan, intend, design, etc. and it’s incapable of, not only creating information, but increasing that complexity to turn molecules into man. It’s the urban legend we’re forced to accept from childhood, and its harmed real science (which is different from “scientism”).

  • Hm. So focus can be learned and practiced you say.? Does this apply to ADHD brains as well? And if so, where to start and how to actually complete the learning process so that focus does increase rather then the learning to focus task just ending up being one more failure?

  • Can we do multiple task with focus in a day but one by one. Means early morning 2-3 hrs study than go for exercise for 1 hrs,then 1-2 hrs break to fresh up and then go for trading for 2-3 hrs than again rest 2-3 hrs rest,and than again study

    Most “bosses” don’t know what “focus” means in its effective form. They are ironically asking you to work in a brain dead state of scattered focus on tasks and expecting the rewards of directed focus style results on those tasks.

  • I am 15 years old now, but I started watching these videos 10 months ago and suddenly I am on my way to becoming: a professional pianist, a chess grandmaster, a software developer, a music composer and I can now speak: Polish, English and Franch fluidly (learning Spanish currently) I am so productive because of these videos!

    I’m thinking now, what a person can do, if his job needs focus, deep work, but it’s constantly interrupted by phone calls and e-mails (and other messages) from boss, from other colleagues, from customers etc. In this situation, when being online is part of the job, switching off not an option. What can a person do to keep his focus in a situation like this? ��

  • I’m a night owl. My best time to focus is the couple hours right before bed. I know I only have a small amount of time to get tasks done before I need to sleep and that keeps me on track. Plus there are less people working at this time who are likely to distract me with conversation

  • 1. Plan out your times (start by figuring out which times of the day your brain is focused the most) most efficient hours and schedule your time accordingly
    2. Train your brain (don’t multitask put all effort in to ONE task)
    3. Let it flow naturally (if you can’t focus take a break to clear your head)
    4. Sleep well eat well! Take care of your needs = increased productivity
    5. Make a list make it clear to your self what you want to accomplish in each session be specific!
    6. Repeat repeat repeat (consistency) **
    7. Clear up (leave all potential distractions from your previous tasks behind) move forward
    8. Pay attention to your habits (pin point what exactly keeps you distracted and get rid of it)
    9. Times up! (Set times Take breaks)
    10. Separate relaxation space and work space (bedroom / study room) no working in bedroom X
    11. FINISH!! End the work with some thing you enjoy eg: watch a movie.

  • There is never a “have to” when it comes to SCROLLING social media.

    Re: social media scrolling:

    Post if you must (i.e. business promotion), interact if you’re trying to build community— but scrolling? Never ever necessary. Waste of time, energy and life? Absolutely.

  • yeah, in a short words be healthy and if your DNA allows it you’ll be able to crush some work from time to time. Without both of those things in place you’re screwed.

  • We need to create a 8 day week by creating a new day get rid of weekends so we all work 4on4 of shifts this will open job opportunity for the other half of the country who can’t find a job gives everyone a chance to enjoy life I mean by this if shops pubs gims hairdressers so on so on it creates equality as I work 5days a week don’t get time to do anything on a weekend by adding 1day a week and splitting days for half the country a time to work and keeping everything open just makes sense

  • Learn to say “not now, later”
    Many distractions come from the needs or availability of others.
    Focus without disruptions does wonders.

  • I have trouble focusing during class and I don’t get distracted I just randomly find my self not paying attention to anything and wandering in my mind

  • Your mind only allows you to shut down when you’ve fully done all the work that it feels it needs to get done. This is exactly why i cant sleep for the past few weeks cause i dont feel like im getting anything done and my brain wont let me unplug!!
