  • Um No. Our brains were hard wired to be scattered as you say. If it wasn’t we would miss food opportunities and mis the the lion or tigers while out looking for food. So Deep Focus is the new kid on the block. I have ADHD, if i take my meds i can be better focused, an also sleep. So I tapped out, after 3min, if your author can’t even get simple evolution in the right order no point of going any further. There is a gene that relates to ADHD individuals. So they test native aboriginals tribes for this gene. Everyone that had it were also the best hunters and gatherers of their tribes. So ya, if your opening statement can be that wrong. Then why go any further. I was really hoping there be something here but its for you normies(93%) enjoy.

  • I don’t read that often. But actually for me, while watching TV, I use my brain and mind in a different way that is not any less valuable than reading. Sometimes while I’m watching TV, I have pictures in my mind that aren’t even related to the pictures on the screen. I’ve learnt a lot about human interaction from TV as well. Plus the thing that saved my life was a cartoon, and that’s on TV. So if you ask me, books and TV both train your brain in a different way. My entire life, I’ve been watching TV and browsing the Internet every single day and I always learn something new

  • you’re gorgeous and your videos are amazings:) so happy that one of your 2018 purpose was to do more face on camera videos, you’re doing it great

  • @better than yesterday
You know there are some people who can’t multitask even if they try..I have a habit of getting into things and forgettinh others..all the.time..and I was always misunderstood for my focus

  • Чек-лист милл.: Если ты из провинции, надо нажать на нормативный русский язык. Говоря,,ихние” ты заявляешь всему миру, что у тебя нет высшего образования и специальности

  • It’s still shock me just how some people do not know about Rotogenflux Methods despite the fact that lots of people increase their IQ of 20 points with it. Thanks to my friend who told me about it. I have improve my IQ in a short period of time.

  • Can’t focus on one thing because:
-I’m obligated to be a baby sit my 6 years old nephew
-Doing all around households because nobody is home everyday except me and my nephew
-Plus dealing with my toxic family (they keep degrading me and shouting at me, sometimes they attack physically)
-I’m preparing for an interview for a job (midnight shift) because I baby sit in mornings
-Reviewing for transferee entrance exam when I gain money so I can enroll again next school year because I don’t have my parent’s financial support in college. (even though they have their money with them they choose not to support me)

  • Do anybody know about Rotogenflux Methods? Does it really work? I hear many people improve their intelligence with this iq boost secrets.

  • It’s actually more complicated… What if working for a boss and you really don’t like it so you just will dream of another thing against your will perhaps your focus is completely scattered and zero to working? Or a job is painful and dangerous and the only things that will get attention automatically are fear, extreme disgust, and hate?
I also have difficulties to gain focus when beginning a task. But if talking about the hobbies then the focus can grow that big so I even can’t sleep when doing a task sometime in a row already because time runs out so fast and things are often incomplete which makes a dissatisfaction and need to complete. This is like a question between extreme laziness and diligence which is probably one of the very extreme mental issues.

  • I have a really hard time focusing.
I find myself sitting down to do something, but then I get up and walk around even though I didn’t need to get up to do something.

  • Even though I have read Deep work years ago but still man this video is really a refreshing course I needed. Thanks for the hard work.

  • Didn’t realize that what I usually do is called deep focus. When I draw / bake, time seems to skip a few hours because I am so concentrated on what I am doing. I don’t even touch my phone when I’m watching a good movie / series and it makes it more fulfilling since I am so in touch with the story.

  • athiest haven’t understood yet 1% of how the brain works,, and they still say the brain was made by coincidence, i say: well continue to study the brain, and no human can study from a book whose letter are ust written randomlly, but if u want to learn you wil need a book that is wriiten by a proffessinals,, any way study the brain which was created randomly hehe

you cant learn from something expet that thing has more knowledge than you, or the way its created and its mechanism physics has someone made it

  • This also is true while taking a test. When distractions occur when you are taking a test during those few seconds mistakes can happen… it is suggested that the person go back a question or so to double check those answers and work to regain their focus

  • I absolutely love your content and the way that your video transmits such peace and that at the end it seems like all my problems are solved and my life is completely organized hahaha:) I just translated your entire video and description to Brazilian Portuguese, hope is up soon:D

  • You can skip the video till 11:15 and still understand everything except
    8. Use the Pomodoro Technique. You can just rewind a few seconds for that.

  • When I focus on something lot of other thoughts revolve in my mind because of this I loose my focus
Can u make a video on this problem please…. it will be a great help

  • remove all distractions from your workspace…
-Puts 5yr old on porch all afternoon and doesnt bother feeding him
-Turns off phone and misses important calls from boss, lawyer, housing manager and kid’s school.
-Ignores stock market tickers, misses perfect buy/sell opportunity
    -Dog urinates on carpet
    -Sink full of dishes
    -House covered in dirt
    -Laundry heaped up

  • Ok, I killed my parents because they distracted me, then police came to my house and distracted me again. They took me to prison and shut me into separate cell. I’m really focused now, but they tell me that they won’t bring me my books to study. I don’t know what I did wrong.

  • Great tip on cleaning up and moving forward even if you find something you missed or an error that was made. It is key to keep moving forward. I’ll keep this in mind next time thanks!

  • removing all distractions is impossible for me. My main tool for my work is my computer, and my main distraction is also the computer. Blocking websites makes no sense, I end up unblocking them in less than a week.

  • Great video, reminder of techniques I’ve used in the past. Lately though having trouble focusing as I’m in middle of lifestyle changes. It would be great if you and/or other viewers could address two things I need help on: 1) How to do deep work on multiple different things? A day for each area of deep focused work or divide up the focus time? 2) I need to do outdoor work in the mornings before it gets too hot, this has messed up my focused computer morning work time. If I do outdoor work, say from 6/7 to 9 am, then switch to deep focus, will I still be able to maintain productivity? Yes I realize I have to do it to see what works, but would like some input on these kinds of issues, thanks!

  • But sir,
My distraction is that while studying I tend myself to think about some unnecessary things like thinking about someone without any effort. I can’t focus now. Whenever I begin to study, after a few minutes I tend to think unnecessary things. Sir plz give me some tips and remedies as I believe now you can only help me out of this problem

  • This was great, thanks, I’ve been looking for “how do you retrain your brain to think positively?” for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried Piyameron Singular Preeminence (do a search on google )? It is a smashing one off product for ending your limiting beliefs minus the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my neighbour got amazing success with it.

  • Honestly, I think that focus is largely a result the way that you feel about yourself and the way that you feel emotionally about the possibilities for yourself, which is often the byproduct of childhood relationships, as well inspiration. I think that focus starts with dealing with those things.

  • For me, if I take all the worksheets, notes, textbooks etc. out and put it in a basket on my desk before i start working it helps me to get things done significantly.

  • I started meditation last year. It took me a whole year to actually understand the purpose of it. Ultimately because my focus was THAT bad that I didn’t event know when I’m focused and not. All these additionals really help a lot over a long period of time. Thanks for this video!

  • These are all already written in sanathana dharma Hinduism BHAGAVADGEETA. And now some ppls from America came and said they discovered something. Every single one of your videos inspires and helps me so much! I respect you to no end. Thank you so much! And by the way you are super pretty and your voice is really relaxing. Thanks!

  • So, last month I was playing with notification settings in iPhone. Now, I only get banners for “important stuff”. But, if I slide down, I still see all notifications about mail, uploads on youtube, notifications from IG etc. It works perfect, I’m spending less time on my phone. Also, if I want to be notified about YT uploads, I have to click the bell on my PC browser, if I do it on my phone, it will take me to notification settings that way I get notified in notifications list (slide down) but not with the sound of the banner. Keep up the good work, I wish I was like you in your age. You make me wanna go to school again:)

  • I actually took notes on this video, if anyone would like to see the notes, I am replying them to this comment. These notes are my personal notes, where some of the stuff is just restatements of the video, and other notes are from me connecting other knowledge that I know that could help me.

  • So good… Jasmine….. I liked when u said “don’t press the notifications bell coz it will ring when u should be studying”

  • Lack of sleep bad for brain

  • My had writing is not neat at all and my notes don’t look very nice. I end up taking hours trying to make my writing neat by writing really slowly. Could you please make a video on how to improve your hand writing??? This would really help me.

  • After 5 years in marriage with my husband with 2 kids, my husband started acting weird and going out with other ladies and showed me cold love, on several occasions he threatens to divorce me if I dare question him about his affair with other ladies, I was totally devastated and confused until a old friend of mine told me about a spell caster on the internet called Dr Kayode who help people with relationship and marriage problem by the powers of love spells, at first I doubted if such thing ever exists but decided to give it a try, when I contact him, he helped me cast a love spell and within 11hours my husband came back to me and started apologizing, now he has stopped going out with other ladies and his with me for good and for real. • Thank you very much
I am going to use the no distractions and exercise or meditation tip
As I am already applying the rest of them

  • I don’t think u can cure my un-curable adhd, I wasn’t even focused on this video but on the comments and other videos on YouTube

  • Having good psych and phy us impt but good techniques requires constant effort and awareness on what the he’ll you are doing. Most important part? Give yourself space to think. You don’t always have to do something to give you progress. Think carefully before you do. And do it quick. In fact master the idea of multitasking but knowing what the he’ll you are doing every single detail.

  • Summary:
    1 Distraction list
2 Work on small things, prioritise and do hardest things first
    3 Don’t multitask
    4 Clean up workspace
5 Get rid of distractions, no notifications
6 Don’t criticise until finished, draft better than nothing
7 Take care of your body, exercise and sleep
    8 Meditate
9 Read or audiobooks, focus for long periods

  • I appreciate the tip you gave about writing essays. “A bad draft is better than no draft”. I’ve been having bad anxiety about my scholarship essay I have to write for college and this has finally given me the courage to have a go at it. Thank you <3

  • ME: doesn’t feel to work but have to to as my parents are around.
ALSO ME: spending the time just looking at my book.
AGAIN ME: finally feeling to do work.sharp the pen, turn the page….
MY MOM: you did much work please help me with cooking:-)

  • Isn’t doing one thing for extended period of time is called focus I can never focus on one thing for longer periods of time and that’s why I was here. You’re telling me to get focus with deep work? Like it’s so contradictory

  • Literally it’s the very first video on which i can actually say
    “I learned a lot!”
Really and by saying this i actually mean it.
Best video i have ever seen on this topic.
Stay blessed and always be guided to right path.

  • Thank you for the video and in-depth information on it. The Video is 17 min. If you take time to write it down more than a hour. Good Work Team. #beawesome

  • number six is me in a nutshell lmao. i’m such a perfectionist and it really affects me, which is why my mom has always told me, “done is better than perfect.” i used to always wait until the last minute to do projects in public school, so finishing the project instead of perfecting it is always an important thing to remember. i’d rather have a C or a B than an F, personally.

  • At 12:28 you say ” When we exercise, our brains become more plastic”. This does not sound good. I know what you mean but that’s a poor word choice. “Our brains have more Plasticity” Might have worked……..or versatility.

  • Okay, this video is really useful, but here’s some advice as a viewer I’d rather not go through watching 4 midroll ads on a video that talks about how NOT to be distracted. it’s kinda irritating. Again, I hope you take this as just constructive criticism cuz I love watching your videos and would hate to be rude

  • I want to learn how to study! But I can’t understand English!!!!!!!!!!Because I am Japanese… Why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I would suggest you substitute “high-in-carbohydrates” for “fatty” in your segment on eating well. Fat is not necessarily unhealthy.

  • Me: Focused on video.
YouTube: Here is an Ad in the middle of your segment of this video… Did you know WikiBuy can save you money?,!?!?
    Me: Skiiiiip….Where were we?

  • this tip may work for some. Listen to some calm music such as piano instrumentals or low fi hip hop music while working. Try to refrain from music that distracts you.
