  • I agree that “superfoods” is a vague term used for marketing purposes and has no specific criteria or other useful information associated with it… which is exactly what I found out when I tried to improve my diet years ago by adding more healthy food, and starting by searching for “superfoods”. What followed was three days of reading nutrirional research about what made these foods healthy and designing my own diet around the scientific information provided.

    Calling something a “superfood” is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as the reasons why it is a superfood are provided so people can follow up and get more information. “Superfoods” are not the end, they can be a beginning.

  • You can add all the colour you like with vegetables but the vitamins and minerals are more abundant from meat and fish and eggs. Add all the vegetables you like but you won’t get a lot of extra out of them.

  • Capsule garlic does not work. Neither does powdered garlic. Allicin is the compound in garlic that provides health benefits but it is not stable outside of the cloves. And even then in the cloves it only lasts a short amount of time after crushing the garlic. After crushing the garlic which is how you produce the most Allicin you must leave the garlic for about 5 minutes a chemical reaction to occur allowing your body to absorb the Allicin. Cooking garlic has been shown to drastically reduce the health benefits of garlic as it reduces the potency of Allicin and might denature the protein all together.

    Carrots last long, but to make them last even longer I store them in a tupperware/jar full of water. Last time I bought a big batch of carrots was a month ago and I have just eaten the last one today. And it was as fresh and crunchy as if it wash just bought!!!!
