40 Weeks Pregnant | What To Expect

Video taken from the channel: What To Expect

During the final days of pregnancy, your baby’s hair and nails are getting longer, and her lungs are mature enough to take in her first gasp of air. Soon enough, you’ll be able to view the fruit (or fruits if you’re having multiples) of your labor. At 40 weeks, you may be fixated on when that time will come.

You are officially in the 40th week of pregnancy. Congratulations, the finish line is within reach — well, sort of. Your womb has made a mighty cozy home for baby these last nine months, and. But it’s more common closer to the finish line — in your third trimester (weeks 28 through 40).

This is probably because your bod is getting ready for the big day. Believe it or not, it’s not. I know that 40 is just an idea in the mind—a finish line that isn’t one. —Sheila Heti, from Motherhood: A Novel Childbearing is a fraught topic at any point during a woman’s life, but rarely is it.

So, when your pregnancy test is positive you’ll be five or six weeks through your total of 40 without even realising. This is good news as time can stand still when you’re pregnant – especially in the home straight. Your baby, however, starts sprinting to the finish line as soon as conception occurs. What’s the best sex position if you’re trying to get pregnant? While there are no science-backed sex positions that boost the odds of getting pregnant, missionary position (or woman on bottom, man on top) can get sperm closer to your cervix and the goal line.

Propping a pillow under your hips puts gravity in. If you’ve played Fall Guys, this has happened to you: You’re about to cross the finish line. Everything’s looking great. Then, out of nowhere, some jerk grabs you.

A bunch of other pastel. If you go into labor preterm (after week 20 and before week 37 of pregnancy) you probably won’t have back labor. Some experts says that back labor is.

Just like cells are the building blocks of all life, t-shirts are the framework for every ‘fit. Like cash and fresh air, you can’t ever have too many tees. It’s never been easier to stock up on these essentials either, thanks to these blazing hot t-shirt deals at Finish Line. Get the tees you need at prices that won’t leave you hunting for pennies in the couch when you shop tees on sale. Free.

With BabyCenter’s My Pregnancy & Baby Today, you can track your baby’s development, get expert tips for handling the challenges of pregnancy, manage your to-do list, plan your registry, and chat with women who are having babies the same month you are.You can also take weekly bumpies (selfies of your bump!) and compile them into a keepsake video.

  • Sex, curb walking, Red raspberry LEAF tea (as much as you can drink at this point), Miles circuit, chiropractor, and pineapple. Clary sage can help break your water. Also massage your hand between your thumb and pointer finger as hard as you can.

  • Also my midwife let me know that the 2nd babies labour could happen in half the time. I didnt expect her to be spot on, and ended up having a surprise at home delivery (because I didnt realize how far dilated I had become and expected to have hours of labour left based on my last delivery) so leave sooner than later! It’s scary having a surprise home birth

  • No membrane stripping = you go mama!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I actually refused ALL internal exams my last pregnancy. It was fantastic. I’d do it again.

  • 40 weeks no baby yet I’m tired of being pregnant. This is my second baby btw it’s a girl and my first was a boy which he’s 3 now lol blessed but annoyed. Hurry up man

  • so exciting that you are to 40 weeks! I am 37 weeks today but it’s #4 end I always go the full 40 except #3…. who came 1 will Ole day early. Lol! That’s okay though, they go when they are ready! can’t wait to see your next update either way!

  • I’m 40 weeks and 2 days pregnant my baby is still not entirely engaged in my pelvis I believe I’m -2 from what I saw in a chart where the head should be. My Dr already scheduled an appointment at the hospital for an induction. Either Friday or Saturday. I’m kind of nervous since i could end up with a c-section, but I would say as long as he is a healthy baby at this point I don’t even care if is not natural. Lol

  • Had my 4D scan at 32+4 weeks. He is looking gorgeous <3 I am so excited to meet my little boy! And my partner is more so! Feels like time is going so fast! I'm 33 weeks now! Need to finish the hospital bag asap!

  • I walked/jogged on the treadmill (it was the middle of winter, so outdoor walks weren’t an option on the evening of my due date) made it about 2.5 miles before anything happened, but then all of a sudden I realized my waters were starting to leak! so that’s what worked for me, but I’ve heard alllll kinds of crazy methods! Praying for a smooth, peaceful labor and delivery for you!!

  • Is the length 20 Inches measured from the Top of the Head to the Bottom of the Rump?
Or from the Top of the Head to the Bottom of the Feet?

  • This makes me miss having my son in my stomach He was born 5/21/20 hes 3 months now. I can’t believe it’s been a year since we found out I was having him. It truly goes by so fast. Even faster once they’re here

  • I hope you have your baby soon. You’re incredible taking that long walk. May your baby be born healthy and strong. Good luck Megan. Thanks for sharing.

  • Absolutely Fantastically And Wonderfully Beautiful.
Seeing those children was awesome, inspiring, Beautiful, and a million other things I can’t think of right now because I’m absolutely in love with seeing a baby actually smile and yawn within the womb. The child also look as if it’s looking around, mentally checking out its surroundings, even opening his/her eyes twice, unless it was two different children that opened their eyes. Anyways it’s a great videos seeing human life take shape, looking from without at the Beautiful Child/Children within the wombs.

  • I can remember watching your updates as far back as baby girl being the size of a blueberry. Now she’s the size of a watermelon!! So, so exciting! Wishing you all the best for the remaining of the pregnancy, labour and of course delivery

  • I’m 10 weeks today with my 5th baby, I started to do YouTube videos with this pregnancy, if anyone is interested in following my journey with this pregnancy, please come over to my channel and subscribe to see the videos I’ll upload about this pregnancy. Thanks for reading

  • Natalie, with my third I did evening primrose oil (inserted vaginally, which I think you mentioned you already do) at night, I got adjusted by my chiropractor, rolled around on my exercise ball and I went into labor 9 hours later.:) Blessings to you and your little sweet pea.:)

  • Hi Megan can’t believe I’m watching this a year later but it was bazare cause when you said the time it was the same time here lol in Wales England

  • Same in my situation now. It’s my 40weeks today but still no sign for labor. So my doctor said I need to admit in the hospital to do induce labor. I hope and pray that me and my baby is will be ok by Monday.

  • So it’s probably just my pregnancy hormones, but I got so emotional listening to the end music of this video. I’ve watched each of your pregnancy videos along with my own pregnancy (so, one a week) ever since I first got my positive test. Your update videos have been like a friend to me throughout this 40 week journey and I can’t believe it’s over and I’m going to be meeting my little one any day now. Thank you so much for making these, you have made my experience so much more positive and exciting.

  • So they say 40 weeks bc it’s an easy rounded number. But most often than not babies are born at 41 weeks and 1 day. It’s so hard when they tell you that date bc you’re so ready by then and can’t imagine having to wait another 8 days!

So my due date story is that I was pregnant with 2 coworkers and we we’re all due on a Monday two weeks apart (M, Me, C). They others were having their second, I was having my first. So C ends up delievering a week early on Sunday. I find out that evening and jokingly tell her not fair bc I was next, so that’s it, I’m having a C-section tomorrow. Well turns out that next day (yes exactly at 41+1) I did have an emergency C-section. Oops! Guess I should have held my tongue.

  • The understanding is not science it’s heart and that website a fukkin joke supports Terror and sad now you see why Ashley Madison got shut down simple secure and god faith religion so the left with is all the website I pointed out took then out and poultice our community sad bjt I will nkt be quite

  • I’ve never had kids, but I went to school for Massage Therapy. We were taught not to massage the medial ankle/foot and lower leg region of pregnant women because that can induce labor. But now you WANT labor so…have hubby massage those ankles for ya! Praying for all to go well! God bless!

  • I’m 37, and have a 12 year old boy and a 10 year old girl and now 21 weeks pregnant with my surprise baby boy!!! Wasn’t expecting him but he is more than welcome!! So excited!

  • I am 40 + weeks and my baby head ki not engaged.. Dr recommed C section….but i dont want a C section…..Does inducing will help my baby engage..its my first pregnancy

  • I didn’t get a congratulations on my due, I got like, it is your fourth baby, the baby is not engaged, and it was supposed to be out already at 38 weeks.. I am sending you to the sonar.

  • I’m 39 weeks and my Dr won’t induce me won’t even talk about it but baby is measuring bigger then 39 weeks it’s sucks and I’ve very upset with my Dr

  • This my third pregnancy, i didn’t go through this with my first and second. My doctor did mention that it is a risky situation keeping the baby till 41 or 42 weeks pregnancy. It had to be only emergency reason or struggling hours with dilating 3cm or 4cm to be induce before my due date. My doctor wants me to have the possibility to have my baby naturally. Now I am 40 weeks and in 4 days my induction is set. God’s well be done, blessings to all mothers.

  • You can induce labour naturally. Like eating pineapple, walking alot, walking on uneven surfaces… like one foot on the sidewalk, the other on the road

  • I’m 40w1d going to ask my doctor to be induced today. They usually don’t induce until 42w my son came at 41w so I’m hoping they induce today.

  • The only thing is due dates can be off so you could be more like 39 weeks instead of 41 and that’s why the body hasn’t gone into labor.

  • May God bless myself and everyone who is wishing for and wanting babies with babies babies and more babies

My wife did not get labor pain till due date and doctor told us to wait two days and on second day after due date, we lost our first baby.

  • Did you know that you didn’t even see your womb when you were 5-9 months? At week 22 babies open their eyes and at week 36 they respond to light. But, although they opened their eyes, they cant even see their wombs. Weird.

  • Phillipians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Saying and memorizing this scripture will give you the calm peace you need to deliver this baby, I have used it before! I will be having #7 in a couple months. Blessings!:)

  • Congratulations to all expecting!! Unfortunately I’ve been ttc for 8 years. I can only hope and dream that I will conceive one day . Baby dust to all of you ttc!

  • Yup I feel you, a few of my friends always went early and before me with both my girls. but the up side to that was I got to go see their baby’s then! And that was always fun. But it would nice to be that person to go early once. Lol.
Always worth the wait tho! God has your baby’s birthday and time all planned out! Saying a prayer for you. ❤️

  • I am 4 cm dialated, soft cervic, lost mucus plug and dr is gonna induce me at 40weeks1day. Im now 39weeks4days. Had lots of braxton hicks tho. They are not gonna give me pitocin btw. All the best to you, dear.

  • Doctor waited in my case and I lost my baby. I was 41 weeks pregnant. Suddenly movement stopped. Still searching reason of this demise. If you could answer this. That would be great.

  • On a lighter note, my MIL accidentally was speeding things up way back when by building a snowman (totally possible over here today). Someone else decorated for a birthday party… blew up balloons… by mouth… baby day! Happened to her twice that way.

  • I was born at 42 weeks:) I was going to get induced on April 12th and my mom finally went into labor in the 11th at night and I was born naturally in the 12th:) guess we’re ready when we’re ready

  • Eat the most spicy food you can handle, I also drank pure pineapple juice, like 6 cans of it. I did a ridiculous amount of squats and lunges. Went into labor less than 24 hours later. Oh, also drank milk of magnesia which is safe. Best wishes!

  • I carried my daughter to 42 weeks. I went in labor the night before I was scheduled to be induced. Sex and walking works from what I hear.
