Urinary incontinence, frequent urination or bed-wetting (these symptoms might be signs of a serious condition, consult your pediatrician) Soiling (often confused with diarrhea) In addition to physical. Constipation can cause stomach cramps, reduced appetite and irritability.

See your doctor if simple diet changes aren’t helping, your child is in significant pain or if they are bleeding from their bottom. Symptoms of regular constipation include: Chronic constipation occurs when these difficulties persist for several weeks or months. Children with chronic constipation complain of pain while having a bowel. If your child is over 1 year old, soiled pants can be another sign of constipation, as runny poo (diarrhoea) may leak out around the hard, constipated poo. This is called overflow soiling.
