    Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy

    Take a prenatal vitamin

When do I need to start taking prenatal vitamins? Start taking folic acid at least 1 month before you start trying to get pregnant.

    Exercise regularly

If you’re healthy, the risks of moderate-intensity activity during pregnancy are very low, and do not increase risk of low birth weight, pre-term delivery, or early pregnancy loss. Before you continue your old exercise routine or begin a new one, you should talk to your doctor about exercising while you’re pregnant.

    Write a birth plan

You should start thinking about what to include in your plan as early as your second trimester, though you needn’t put it down on paper until the 32nd through the 36th week of pregnancy.

    Educate yourself

Experts say the best time to get pregnant is between your late 20s and early 30s. This age range is associated with the best outcomes for both you and your baby. One study pinpointed the ideal age to give birth to a first child as 30.5.
