  • Scientist: “hey what do we call this antibiotic the bees defend themselves with?” Other scientist: “uhh b-bee…defensin. 1. Bee defensin-1”

  • the big problem is, CHEAP honey is watered down with many other things…
imported honey has been found to contain chemicals like chloramphenicol, an antibiotic banned in the U.S. that has been linked to cancer and is dangerous to some people. Imported honey has also been found to be a fraud, with high-fructose corn syrup or rice syrup added to the honey

  • Acid and hydrogen peroxide?.. that’s what happen when you eat honey? i use honey in my coffee…not sure it is so good anymore…

  • Umm, not really: honey also contains endemic bacteria that can cause an immune reaction in children and immune compromised persons. Honey that has not been pasteurized should not be fed to small children or those with immune issues. Bacteria can adapt to almost anything, so almost nothing can kill all bacteria.

  • After carple tunnel surgery when the hospital wanted to change the dressing, they put on bandages with medical grade honey! No joke! I thought stuff like this was just homeopathic witch doctor stuff but it’s legit!

  • It’s 2020, and last I was aware of, there still has NEVER been a confirmed case of botulism poisoning caused by ingesting honey by an infant. Spores can be present in the honey, but spores are also found in many other foods in their inactive state. Honey has been given a bad rap in this case. If I am wrong please let me know of the spcific case and documentation so I may correct my thinking. I’ve kept bees for the last 20 years and there have been many challanges, this being one of them.

  • An amazing creature like this cannot exist without an even more powerful creator.

    Almighty God says:
“And your Lord inspired to the bee, “Take for yourself among the mountains, houses, and among the trees and [in] that which they construct”
“Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you].” There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.”
    Qur’an 16:68-69

You deserve to know the truth. Find out the truth of your existence today. Start with Islam, the true religion of God.

    Peace:)

  • This is so true….my cat had a big big wound…thought I was going to put him down…nope didnt happen…put natural honey and a bandaid on him…14 days later….he was a new cat…

  • I recently had a small infection at the location of my toenail due honestly to bodged nail care and poor hygiene. I heard that honey was useful but wasn’t sure whether to eat it or apply it to the wound so I did both. It healed really quickly and it reminded me how yummy honey is!

  • According to the insanity of social media, saying honey kills bacteria and is used in hospitals means SciShow wants us to inject honey into our veins to fight covid.

  • It is mentioned in the quran on how honey is a healing (Quran 16:69) And your Lord inspired to the bee, “Take for yourself among the mountains, houses, and among the trees and [in] that which they construct.

(Quran 16:70) Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you].” There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.

  • Why doesn’t honey destroy the bacteria in our guts then? I guess because it’s no longer honey by the time it hits the bacteria, but still.

  • this is not talking about raw unfilitered or unpasturized honey that contains alot of bacteria fyi which is why babies under 1 should never have honey in general. This is manuka honey etc

  • Ummm… That stuff in the bear isn’t EXACTLY honey. There’s a video somewhere on here that tells you about the difference in honeys.
Edit: Get a cut? Put honey on the cut then cover with clean looking spiderweb. Helps with infection and clotting.

  • Australia has the strongest Manuka honey. I sell it, 1400+mgo tested at ausmanuka.com. Australia has the same plant as New Zealand native to Australia, Leptospermum Scoparium. The University of the Sunshine Coast has just completed a sweep of all our leptospermum varieties that my wife and I were a part of and many contain much higher concentrations of the chemical that produces the methylglyoxal. It is the DHA in the nectar that naturally converts into methylglyoxal over time as the honey is matured. Mānuka honey has to be stored for up to 2 years sometimes to get the maximum conversion from DHA into mgo(methylglyoxal). Some of Australia’s leptospermums such as the leptospermum polygalifolium and leptospermum whitei have tested at over 5-6 times the ppm of DHA in the nectar producing levels of antiseptic honey that New Zealand can’t. Check out facts at the university of the Sunshine Coast’s Facebook page and check out my shop where I promote and sell high quality hospital grade Australian Manuka honey. ausmanuka.com

  • My honey is in a big mason jar since my great grandpa had bees about 7 years ago maybe more and it’s still just as good as it was, his honey actually won first place in our county fair

  • Yeap, and I love the stuff ( honey). When I was in Asmara, Eritrea, I was given sewa. Fermented dates in water and honey. When I came back to Canada ( Toronto ). I did the same in a clear glass jar (Mason jar ). Found out that foreing honey was better but the Canadian stuff was watered down. The Fermentation lasted for two years. Tasted it every day, left it in the light, double dipping to make sure a sample of my saliva was in there, everytime, so it could track my belly. Eating the dates and putting some new ones in about every week and eating the old ones. At the end, it was bubling like 7-up. Wicked! I credit this thing for getting rid of any diabetes or needing dialysis etc.

  • The Quran mentions the healing ability of honey 1,400 years ago:
“And your Lord inspired the bees: “Make ˹your˺ homes in the mountains, the trees, and in what people construct, and feed from ˹the flower of˺ any fruit ˹you please˺ and follow the ways your Lord has made easy for you. From their bellies comes forth liquid of varying colours, in which there is healing for people. Surely in this is a sign for those who reflect.” [Quran 16:68-69]
I encourage you to read the Quran my dear friends. For more on the scientific miracles of the Quran, please watch the following video:

    Thank you.

  • Does the bacteria killing property of honey mean that honey eaters should take probiotics supplements? I would think eating honey would kill off your friendly bacteria and mess up your digestion.

  • This may sound like a silly question but would any kinda honey do the trick? I mean, there’s so many brands to choose from, the market’s, unlike honey, is really quite saturated.
