  • Keep your babies rear facing as long as a seat is capable of safely holding them, keep them in a harness as long as a seat allows. Please don’t ever put your greatest gift in eminent danger.

  • I feel there was no need to say internally decapitated. Paralyzed from the neck down was more than enough to understand. Can’t believe the authorities allowed this chair to be put out.

  • Well you don’t have to be an engineer to see that there isn’t any side impact protection in that seat. Some responsibility should be put on those parents too for not being able to spot that

  • The problem is if an adult was in the seat, just like in the test, they would also be thrown the same way. If you get impacted from the opposite side of the car you are sitting on, your upper body will do the same thing, your lower body will move with the car/seat and your upper body won’t, and the shoulder harness does jack squat.

So there is a bigger problem that needs to be solved and it has been like this since the day the shoulder harness was invented. There is a reason NASCAR drivers are surrounded by side supports for their body and head. Add in the Hans device so the head does not internally decapitate and you have real protection. But who can have that much protection day in and day out on the chance you will have a side impact accident? And the speeds are nothing like in NASCAR.

The smaller car seats have side wings to keep the body from moving to the side and the racing V harness that fits over the head keeps the upper body relatively stable and confined in the seat. But even then, you can have injury from the belts in a side impact.
