The apparent advantages of this recorder over the present ANQ-2 and GNQ-2 models are that it operates at a constant groove speed and as a result, performance on the inside of the disc is the same as on the out side, and the elimination of the turntable tends to reduce vibration problems due to turntable mass.

  • Didn’t emphasize that the LectroFan does NOT loop. Cheap digital units have an awful 3-second or so looping sample that you can hear every time through the loop, driving your crazy.

0:10 LectroFan doesn’t have a battery, so no charging. It is easy to power with any USB power source (even a power bank).

0:31 It doesn’t cancel ambient noise, it masks it with something louder.

0:43 There are also analog machines which use analog circuitry (no fan) to produce white noise. Marpac Corporations Marsona units did this. Not sure if they make them anymore. One downside of these is that they make loud noises when cell phones are in use nearby, especially GSM phones. Maybe one reason analog non-fan units aren’t common anymore.

1:10 I like that you focused only on white noise generation.

  • This is great information… I’m such a light sleeper.. I’ve come to the conclusion I need a fan or white noise. Started my search for a fan that doubles as white noise but most are sold as “quiet”. Now need to decide on one from your video! I will use your link.

  • Great video! Thanks a lot. Does the LectroFan Micro 2 have the same cool “Whooop” transition sound as the other full size LectroFan models? Also do you have a referral link to purchase? Be happy to give you credit.

  • Great information. I am thankful that you have put so much effort into these videos. They are thorough and helpful. Keep up the great work!

  • Thanks for the review! I was leaning towards the 3rd one, but after I saw the apps i think I’ll do that. I’m currently streaming 10 hour YouTube ambient videos with black screen but it uses up a lot of data!

  • Would you recomend having a dedicated machine above just using an app on your phone? I currently just use an app but have been thinking about buying a machine. Really useful vid btw.

  • I need the white noise machine b/c my neighbor likes to fall asleep w/ his stereo on.
Never thought of streaming white noise; thanks for the idea. I love the Hatch Baby Rest. My mom had the Homedic. Didn’t know white noise could damage hearing at a certain volume…learned something new!

  • My neighbors above me put in hardwood floors and I hear like every step they take..I want something loud to drown them out…which if any of these do you recommend?

  • Noise Machines mentioned in this video:

  • Are these the only ones with “nature sound” added?

What’s your opinion of the RECENT one on top, in comparison to the bottom two?

Need answer fast, must buy soon… I want DURABILITY, CLARITY, VARIETY…

  • Please help. My upstairs neighbor walks around all hours of the night, I also hear his phone conversations. Which machine do you recommend to muffle out thumping vibration noise? I’ll use a link if you have one. Thanks in advance……Lack of sleep from careless neighbor is affecting my health in many ways. Please help.

  • Thank you for this video…y daughter loves the babyshusher but i do hate that it is only 30 minutes at most. I am having a hard time finding the 12 hour video. Any help would be appreciated.

  • 20 years ago they changed the furnace in the building were I live, and that’s when noise started. It’s a hum noise, and it’s always the same note = D (I am a musician)

The landlord is ignoring my complaints, I tried ear plugs but this vicious hum noise goes through the best ear plugs. Do you think that a white noise machine can eliminate that humming?
    Thank you

  • I have the last one u showed. Would the volume at half be too loud for baby?. Half out of the black meter not the maximun volume.. Maximun volume is crazy loud lol

  • You’re awesome. I went with the app connected to a blue tooth speaker I wasn’t putting to good use. The office provides us with the Marpac brand. Thank you for saving me some money. When I can afford one, I want the one that cost one hundred bucks. New subscriber.

  • Thanks for this video! I had no idea there was a mini sound machine! I use a sound machine every night an I’m getting ready to travel so deff buying a letrofan micro 2 it will be great not having to pack up my big sound machine!

  • I bought this product for my Grandnephew and her Mom. ❄️>わ   This product is amazing. They both love. Very easy to use. Its teaching my Grand and she is very willing to learn.

  • Holy damn if somebody put that thing in my house I would stomp on it until it was powder, then I would burn the powder and yell profanities at the smoke until every trace of it had disappeared.

  • I have white noise on surround sound in my living room. A Marpac in my bedroom. My new neighbor slams her toilet seat. Now I need something extremely loud in my restroom. Oh gosh!

  • Ive got shorts arms and deep pockets. I use the white noise found on apple music and play it on my bluetooth speaker. Works just as well. Good luck guys!

  • Thank you for this. My daughter has had 2 machines from Project Nursery that have broke. I think I’m going to go with the Homedics one now after watching this. Thanks again

  • I could not tolerate the reader’s 5-year-old-Valley-Girl voice long enough to listen to much of the video. Also, it is pronounced “Tihn’-uh-tus”, like “MINute-us”.

  • If you are looking for a white noise fan but suffer from tinitis I can confirm that you should at least 100% stay away from the marpac machines.i owned the original dark yellow marpac. Best machine I ever had, lasted 8 years. so when it died, naturally I went marpac again. The new one is cheap, and has an electrical zing to it. You will regret buying it if you ever had the original. (Think they started making this junk newer model about 5 years ago. Hand on heart it’s just not the same product and tinitis suffers should definitely look elsewhere).

  • Wow. I don’t know if it’s the hormones but I actually got emotional when you said you created a video with each of the sounds for us. I told my husband this man is so considerate!! ☺️Honestly thank you!

  • Is this type of technology able to detect a small dogs loud yap and mask it? I’d pay good money for that since my neighbour clearly doesn’t give a fuck.

  • Hey guys u know i use fan as a white noise even in the coolest winter….. last day i got flue due to cool air……. what should i do any suggestion?

  • To be honest, why would you buy a white noise machine (costs around 30 USD approx.). Apps, such as Sleep Cycle, have white noise (even black, brown and pink).

  • hi there, we have white noise machine for baby/adult sleeping companion, would you like to check it out? we can send you for free.

  • This is the first time I’ve seen anything from your channel, so please forgive my ignorance about you guys, or your team members… but… whoever does your voiceover work, has just about the loveliest voice I’ve ever heard. Such a pleasingly youthful pitch without being too squeaky, and with just the right amount of vocal fry. She also has extremely clear diction. It’s very pleasant to hear those precisely enunciated ‘T’ and ‘S’ sounds, without crossing the line into ‘fingernails on chalkboard’ territory. That can be such a fine line sometimes. She also has great script-reading cadence. Just beautiful.

  • umm, these are really more like pink noise machines. White noise contains all frequencies, including higher ones. Pink has fewer high frequencies and has a more natural, deeper sound.

  • I hate this thing. The micro usb connector is horrible. The micro usb connection is one of the worst designs. It loosened in the hushh and now won’t charge

  • Instead of concentrating on the white noise generator. NOW” I’m concentrating on the The really nice lady who is doing the voiceovers excellent job! She does have a very nice presentation about her’

  • Thank you for your review this is so helpful. I’m thinking about getting the Sound+Sleep, but I’m curious which one do you think is the best for external noises (loudest)?

  • I think the best white noise machine is an air purifier. The soft sound of blowing air while simultaneously making your room a cleaner/healthier environment.

  • Thanks for your review, it is very helpful! I find your video production professional, nice calm voice and good information. Also like the tune in between the products as well. Keep it up the good work! By the way: I will make sure to use one of your Amazon links when I decide to purchase one (leaning towards #1 for now).

  • It’d be a lot better you had the white noise machine blocking out sound instead of your fucking voice talk in the whole goddamn time

  • So whats the difference between a white noise machine and just buying a bluetooth speaker and playing free white noise apps from your phone. Isn’t using a free app much better and much cheaper?

  • Apparently I turned into a light sleeper over the years, and these tiny machines have helped tremendously! However, you absolutely need to make sure that whatever machine you pick up, does not loop! It will annoy the hell out of you when trying to sleep. Sure, they cancel out random noise around you, but your brain quickly picks up the looping and you can hear it constantly after that. So no looping and all is good. My previous Avantek, while advertised as non looping, does loop. It was unbararable after only a few days. However it does feature other sounds as well, and I picked a stream with water and birds and it helped me sleep better. However this sound doesn’t really cancel other sounds, so it’s ok’ish. I need to pick up the Lectrofan, but it’s just too expensive currently.

  • If I get about five of the top one, will my nosy neighbors still be able to hear everything I say and do (including farting)? It’s so sad that some people have absolutely no life at all. With all the booze and dope they do, you’d think they’d already have plenty of things to do besides listening in to people.

  • I love falling asleep to white noise, its so soothing. I have one in my room but i travel a lot so i might get the Marpac Hushh. I like how compact it is. Great comparison. Keep them coming

  • Why not load an mp3 file in your phone and hit play? You can have an enormous amount of white noise files (if you need, but you don’t).

  • I was in a car accident in 2010, and I was left with a severe traumatic brain injury. Since then, I have tried everything to sleep to no avail. I just can not sleep, but I have not tried a white noise machine yet, and I am praying that It helps.

  • Thank goodness for YouTube! I can actually hear what they sound like. It is going to be a though decision. And in another note…why is it that every time I look up this (and other products) it’s all about fricken Amazon?! He’s even disguised them on other posts that don’t have amazon on it. I hate them. He’s taken over majority of the other businesses online and regular stores. He’s an ass and I won’t give him a penny. He didn’t even pay taxes. Ok…ok I’m getting off my soapbox now.

  • the Lectrofan is really good for me, but I need one, that I can put into an electric socket. This thing needs a usb, but even a usb needs electricity. So why don’t they make it with a normal electric cable? A shame, because i really need something like that, to drown out very loud noises from outside my house, as well as next door neighbours noise though the thin walls

  • I think I just fell in love with your review and I’m only 2 minutes in. Thank you for making a review like this. You’re helping out so many moms!

  • Do not understand who would want to ADD noise to their bedrooms. WTF is wrong with you people. I thought everybody like to sleep in silence. Or at least with some distant pleasant sounds like birds singing, but not this *noise*. And somebody is asking for more volume?!?!

  • GIVEAWAY ALERT! We are giving away at least one free mattress every month! It’s very easy to sign up. Check out all the details here:

  • We use LectroFan for our bedroom, Hatch Baby Rest in the baby’s nursery, and the Rohm for when baby needs her naps outside the house! Love all 3 of them!

  • The only device I’ve found to drowned out noises like slamming car doors & motorcycles is a window air conditioner very cold in winter months

  • what can I do, if i want the Lectrofan (not the Evo), but I don’t have usb options for it? I need something, that i can stick into an electric socket. Is there something, like a usb device, that can be connected on one end to an electric socket, and if yes, where can one get it in the UK?

  • I can usually sleep pretty well but often I am distracted by hearing my neighbours, their children crying or screaming etc. and this annoys me a lot. It’s been years so I do wonder if a sound machine would be better for me instead of leaving the TV on, trying to not hear them…

  • Like the Hatch baby rest, love how it also functions as a nightlight. I am definitely going to try to have Alexa play white noise.

  • I share a room with an extroverted narcissist who has to dominate every conversation while talking on discord. He literally emits noise from the moment he wakes up till the moment he sleeps and I’m tired of telling the man to shut up. Hopefully this settles it.

  • Hi, just started my search for a white noise machine and your video gives a great roundup. Just on a side note, am wondering what is your take on white noise machines affecting cognitive functions (memory d concentration) and any long term effects especially for infants. Am aware that the volume has to be at safe levels but a cursory look at the research yields mixed results. Much appreciated!

  • Howdy Katy!! I’ve never used a white noise machine but wowie you make me wanna start! Lectrofan looks dope, pink noise? brown noise? NICE! no looping, cool cool, I’d appreciate that. Love that you can use a usb cable and that it’s reasonably priced!
Hatch baby with natural sounds seems sooo nice plus the different color lights so sooo cool, I’d get it for myself instead of my kids
Hushh seems so practical, it’s little and light and compact. Love that i can grab it while multi tasking lol i love that my kid will be able to slobber all over it with no problem
Homedics is perfect for beginners like myself, I’d be excited for the rain sounds! i love that it has a timer too! that’s cool that it’s super affordable, available and it chargers with usb OR batteries, yasss we love variety!
Marpac dohm is THAT machine, $50 and it lasts a long time? Sold.

I love that Katy gave us some facts from doctors to keep us safe on listening to it for more than 8 hours. Thanks for making me feel safe and informed miss Katy! ❤️

Thanks again guys for the opportunity! I love love love y’alls videos! Praying i can win the free mattress, would be the biggest blessing and a huge dream come true ❤️

  • I agree that the lectro fan has the very best white noise and fan options. I ordered one on Amazon and it seems that this must be plugged into an electrical source to work which will not help me when I travel to noisy places or am camping where electricity is not available.

  • I love white noise. I am disabled and in a ton of pain so I have a very hard time falling and staying asleep so this would be a wonderful option for me. I think I like the hatch baby one plus the best as I like the nightlight option and the alarm option as well.

  • Very helpful video, thank you! We are planning a family trip this summer and I’m trying to find a way to negate snoring, since we’ll all be sharing a room.

  • Which one has the loudest white noise/fan option? I currently use a Dohm on the loudest setting for most nights and also have a ’90s air purifier when I need to drown out the noise of the city and my neighbors. I’m looking for something to replace the enormous air purifier volume-wise.

  • Hey iv always has the first fan white machine you showed how ever I didn’t know it was only supposed to be charged iv been using it since my sons birth but I tried it with out having to plug it in all night long and it doesn’t work but you said it can be used with out the cable or how long should I charge it for

  • Thanks great review video, I’ve ordered a lecrofan to see if this helps my 6 month old baby sleep, fingers crossed it works my neighbour has 4 large dogs that bark night and day as they leave their back door open for their dogs to go in the garden all night ‍♀️ Any way, as soon as one of the dogs bark my baby and I are awake so we desperately need something loud to block sound from outside.

  • I’ve been looking around and seem to keep seeing this result. On Amazon the LectroFan has 4.5 stars from more than 6,000 ratings and comments that hold up against sites designed to spot fake reviews. I’ve also seen a few other videos vouch for it. Seems like a pretty beloved product, I’d love to hear from anyone who has one.

  • FFR, when comparing things like this or sirens, etc., the sensible terminology isn’t “analog” vs. “digital;” it’s “mechanical” vs. “electronic.”

  • I am SO glad I bought this> I was using an old phone for YouTube white noise videos for my nephew before this. We usually have a fan going or our humidifier, so were used to having sound as well. The first time I turned this thing on in was blown away. The first sound that starts are birds outside…. I couldn’t believe the quality. Theres a certain bass to this little thing too that just really enhances the sound quality. It gets REALLY loud. You do kind of have to hold the volume button for 1 second at a time, but not a big deal. We dont sleep without this on. As soon as we hit power, our nephew knows what’s up. Such a fantastic purchase.

  • It’s a pink noise generator. They’ve even misrepresented themselves. White noise is STATIC. The bad TV noise you hear coming out of the speaker devises you showed at the start and your radio or TV when there is no channel selected… Air being pumped through different notches to create different air tones is “pink noise”. It’s calming. Like the pitter-patter of rain or a muffled cracking fire. I use these to sleep. Please stop calling it white noise.

  • Does the dohm have a timer?? Im looking for a sound machine that doesn’t shut off my baby wakes up whenever the sound machines comes off!
